Sure,

Just set you jumpers on the HD as slave, plug it into the same IDE line
as the first HD , reboot, go into bios and autodetect the second ide
device , save and exit.

Slap you CD1 installation disc in the dvd and away you should go.
Eventually you will get to the partition tool , create you partitions on
what will in the above setup be hdb. Format and install programmes, set
boot script, and configure you video card make boot floppy and your
ready to go.

2003-12-12 Thread cdrack
The only thing you have to be aware is were to install
LILO, because if you install on the second master
disk, and if youre computer BIOS Setup indicates
that the boot must be done with the first master disk,
then you will never see the LILO boot manager.. and
you will be directed to youre Windows OS.

So if you plan to install it on the first or second
master disk, you must tell youre computer from wich
HHD it must load the boot.

   Cdrack.

 1. Yes, no problem, linux does not care where you
 boot from.

Put the drive in your machine.

Boot the Mandrake installer. Let it use the second
HD as the place to put its
files, It should detect your WinSnooze
installation, and set up LILO to boot
it as you wish. LILO is the Linux Boot Loader, and
 it will set up your
computer to dual boot both XP and Mandrake.

Are there any extra subtlties (with lilo i guess) if i want to put
9.2 on the second drive, and keep 9.1 and XP on the first?

I would expect it to do just fine, but want to make sure...
