[newbie] Komba2

2002-07-23 Thread Terry Sheltra

Another simple question ..

Does Komba allow a user to delete files from a network share after mounting
it? I tried to use it to delete some network shares, but it would not allow
me, saying nothing but Could not remove directory directory

If I try to drag it to the trash, I am able to, but it seems to only create a
link, and only deletes the link, leaving the original share there untouched.

it does if you rights to it. you might need to right click the share and
supply a username password. if you were accessing it with no
name/password you might want to change it so others can't read your drive.

what OS is on the machine you are connecting to?

Shane,

I am trying to connect to a window$ 2000 domain, in which I have both an
account as well as domain admin rights. I am able to connect to the shares
just fine, and can copy and execute things as I wish, just not delete
anything.

Given that you're connecting to a Win2K share, this sounds like ye olde
'problem' that shares formatted with NTFS can only be read and not written to
from Linux; this is because Microsoft's file system formats are undocumented
and closed source (so writing, given that reverse engineering has to be
employed to decode the formats, is perilous) ...

[newbie] komba2 for Mdk7.2

2002-07-11 Thread Franki

Hi guys..

Does anyone have komba2 installed on mdk7.2??

I need to install it in order to be able to remotely work on a win2000 box
on my network. (and I don't want to use the command line.) but I can't find
a komba2 rpm for mdk7.2,, so I downloaded the source tarball..

compiling it has caused no end of problems and error messages.. mostly about
gcc...

so I was hoping there was an rpm available..

anyone know of this?

Ah you are starting to reap the consequences of using cooker.

In order to install komba2 you had a dependency to install libpng3 which
installed alongside libpng2. Trouble is both packages contain the same files
and any program that relies on libpng2 may now be 'broken'.

You should be using komba2-0.71-5mdk which is on your distribution discs.
You will have to remove libpng3 and replace libpng2 using the --replacepkgs
option of rpm to get it back into a fit state.
