Re: [newbie] Linux Modem
You might actually be in luck using mdk 8.. but I wouldn't try it with 9.2. (in fact I already have.) no luck whatsoever getting it to work.. but apparently it works on anything up to and including mdk9.1 good luck. rgds Franki -- Please sign our petition to encourage notebook manufacturers to offer video card upgrades just like desktops. http://www.petitiononline.com/inspiron/petition.html For free scripts, online webmaster tools, HTML, XHTML, Perl PHP tutorials and stuff, visit: http://htmlfixit.com, Free web developer resources. Re: [newbie] Linux Modem
Guillemo: One good source for information about modems is www.idir.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html. It has a very long list of modems that identifies them as (1) real modems, (2) winmodems for which there is no fix, and (3) winmodems that can be made to work under Linux -- and where the drivers can be found. Hint: It goes a lot quicker if you know the FCC ID number that will be marked somewhere on the modem card. Re: [newbie] Linux Modem
I'm not sure about SST (that's a new one on me), but diamond offers an isa modem that works in Linux called the SupraExpress (I have that one), their pci version is a winmodem and probably won't work (actually I have one of these too, in my son's computer). However, there are a few drivers for winmodems these days and you could probably search on google for linmodems. If you need a pci, I have found that 3com/USRobotics Faxmodem (5610) works great. http://lhd.datapower.com/db/searchproduct.cgi?_catid=11 -s On Wednesday 30 May 2001 05:37 pm, you wrote: Hello, I´ve a Linus Mandrake v7.2. Look for a modem that clearly states that the controller is onboard. This will not only allow it to work under Linux, but it will also free resources in windows and allow connection under DOS. Simple rule, If it costs under $50.00 it's most likely a win-modem. no i dont think it is a winmodem its got legacy settings onboard the moedmand ive tried themirq 3 i/o2f8 its a 3com usr paid 120 dollars
