There probably aren't that many, and someone here will have originals that you can have. Anne Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

Hello Anne, Sunday, June 8, 2003, 2:44:47 AM, you wrote: How can I get copies of the originals, which I would rename as .orig, of course. AW Give us a list of the ones that you think you have overwritten. There AW probably aren't that many, and someone here will have originals that AW you can have. Thanks. I really appreciate your offer. Part of the problem is that in using the GUI, I don't know what files are being changed. I find I go back to looking at a file when there is a problem or question, and by then the comments are gone. I thought it might be nice to get copies of all the originals, just in case, and for additional learning when needed. -- Thank you, rikonamailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? [newbie] Original .conf files?
Hello, As a complete newbie, I didn't realize the value of the comments in the original conf files, and didn't know that the various setup programs would overwrite so many of the comments. I think the relevant command is cpio or something liek that, but I am not that familiar with it. You have stumbled upon a reason why so many experts choose to config by hand editing the files and storing lots of info in comments about why certain things are set the way they are. -- Greg Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft?
