Re: [newbie] installing nfs on mandrake 7.2

hi, have you installed the nfs rpm packages?
something like nfs-utils or somesuch,

then you can use the command exportfs to serve an nfs volume:
#exportfs /path/to/export machine:domain
or something similar
this is all from memory as i haven't done this for ages so caveats apply, i
know you can set up nfs serves from linuxconf

i did enable nfs in the xconfig... and recompile the kernel...

but when i goto /etc/init.d the closest thing i have to 'nfs' is netfs?
is that mandrake's renaming of it...

or did they put the nfs command somewhere else... also where do i find
'portmap' and 'mountd' or is mountd... just mount?

thanks, forgot about that there should be a rpm for that stinkin thing... :)
installed it...

now... where do i tell the kernel to load it?
i put it in rc.sysinit
/etc/init.d/portmap start
/etc/init.d/nfslock start

portmap started fine... nfs locks the machine and gets some stupid error?
should i put this into rc.local instead?
