Looks like all permissions are fine to me. I still don't see anything in

Only one person has replied so I am assuming very few people have had
this problem. (why me?)

I will take this to a kde mail list and get back to this list in case
someone else has this problem.

Jason, I had the same problem. Surprised I haven't seen it
 posted more often.

First, find the Kmix images in
/user/share/apps/Kmix/pics (The easiest way is to go through
 the Home icon in root.)
Right click each icon, go to properties and change the
permissions so everyone can use the damn things.
Second, check the permissions on Kmix itself just to be sure
 /usr/bin/kmix

Hope everything works. I had an awful time with sound. Never
 did resolve everything.

Jason, I changed the permissions in pics to include execute
as well. Not saying I should have but it seemed to do the
trick. I think I put an x in every box I could find as a
matter of fact. (Not running 8.1 now. Can't check.)
Would like to hear what they say on the KDE newsgroup.

Good luck, Harry

[newbie] kde startup sound

2002-01-25 Thread Jason Jesso

I can't get the kde startup sound to play when starting KDE with LM8.1.

In the kde control panel I have the startup sound checked off and I can
even play the test, no problem. When I log out I hear the logout sound.
?

Another strange thing is that in Kmix I don't see anything, just a grey
window. No volume settings, nothing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Re: [newbie] KDE Startup Sound

2002-01-04 Thread Miark

XMMS seems to be working again after another
boot. It may be because I used sndconfig earlier,
but I did do a chkconfig --del alsa afterwards.
I still have no sound directory/file in
/lib/modules/2.4.8-26mdk.

Wow, how is it that the SB Live has worked so
perfectly in previous Mdk versions but has caused
so much trouble in 8.1?

I had this problem with same sound card. I think to fix it, I unchecked
Run soundserver with realtime priority in KDE Control Center (kcontrol)
 Sound Sound Server General tab.

I think that was it. I don't have that problem anymore.
