I confirm that the solution given here is the one that worked for me. I tried to answer before by forwarding the original answer from John, but the mailserver bounced the message back. Anyway, this worked immediately for me. Best regards /Stefano Pilagá wrote: ThinKer wrote: OK.. I see how this works. Star Trek Nemesis and US Foreign Policy get all the replies and attention. [newbie] no OpenOffice.org fonts on menus (at all)
Hello, I recently decided to give openoffice.org a try for the first time to create a .doc file for a proposal. When I clicked on the openoffice.org writer link to application, the program appeared to start fine, but once it opened up I noticed that there is no text on any of the menus in both the opening dialog box and on the menus for the program. 1. How can I fix this, or should I go to the site and download and install the program from scratch? 2. Is there another program for creating and manipulating M$ Office related documents and presentations? Thanks, TP Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Sorry, but that's the normal procedure for a question that has been asked and answered (and I'm pretty sure it was answered, several times). However, I'm sure that if someone was reading and knew the answer offhand, they would have answered. Remember that your question is competing with really important stuff like Deanna Troi's chest measurements. As someone else pointed out, the number of OT posts at the moment is atypical. This is because of the co-incidence of two important events: 1) a war; 2) a new Star Trek film. I'm actually surprised that the former got more posts. Thats it. Personally I'd suggest loading all your TTF Windows fonts via the KDE Control Center - mine worked like a charm after I had a bit of a snag with it... KDE allows you to load all your TTF fonts - so if you're dual booting and have access to your Windows partition, it's rather easy to do - if not, well, you can download different TTF font packages and do basically the same thing... -- Fri Jan 10 14:40:00 EST 2003 2:40pm up 1 day, 4:22, 5 users, load average: 0.08, 0.15, 0.08 -- |____ | kuhn media australia| | / ,, /| |'-. | http://kma.0catch.com | | .\__/ || | | |=| | _ / `._ \|_|_.-' | stephen kuhn| | | / \__.`=._) (_ | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | |/ ._/ || | email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]| | |'. `\ | | |icq: 5483808 | | ;/ / | | | | | smk ) /_/| |.---.| | mobile: 0410-728-389| | ' `-`' | Berkeley, New South Wales, AU | -- * linux user:267497 * RH 7.3+ * PC/Mac/Linux/Networking/Consulting -- indent does _not_ solve the problem of: * buggers who think that cpp is Just The Thing and produce turds that would make srb cringe in disgust. - Alexander Viro on coding style Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Re: [newbie] no OpenOffice.org fonts on menus (at all)
1. Get to a shell, become root, and type the following... /etc/openoffice/openoffice.conf 2. Edit the UI_FONT=AUTO replace AUTO with Arial or whatever other font you have and want to use. 3. Save, close, and open OOOWriter. You should have menus. There, and no cast members were killed off in the typing of this email. -TP On Thu, 2003-01-09 at 20:36, Azrael wrote: On Fri, 2003-01-10 at 01:30, ThinKer wrote: OK.. I see how this works.
