It simply jumps from track 8 to track 12, for example. When I hit the Verify CD button, it says the TOC is outdated and the image on the HD doesn't match with the cd. I encoded some songs with Grip and it worked without problems. I also tried to use GToaster, but I think it doesn't burn images. Isn't it surreal ? Thanks for any tip. It sounds as though you don't have XCDroast configured correctly. and Gnome-Toaster does a nice job of burning images. -- daRmaTTeR Reg. Josenildo Marques wrote: Any audio cd I try to copy with xcdroast goes wrong. you are writing audio mp3 to disc ? I also tried to encode the audio cd files into wav files with cdda2wav, but the problem persists. So you were writing mp3 audio files to disc, but now you cannot convert them all to wav files, sounds as though there is a problem with the original mp3 files. It is said there is a kind of mismatch because the program cannot read all the tracks. If you had been writing wav files to disc and not mp3 my previous comments would of been applicable plus many audio wav file cd's have video files which xcdroast/cdrecord cannot handle, but this is not the case. Sounds(excuse the pun) like you original mp3 sound files are suspect in some way that xcdroast/cdparanoia/cdrecord has found wanting, you can lower the quality test some with command line options in cdparanoia/cdrecord but maybe you are not happy with the command line.I'm not too sure myself without some practice. John I've only been vaguely following this, so sorry if these comments have already been covered. In my experience, two points come up that could be at issue. First, if the source is not impeccable you are likely to get a faulty read. Second, the burn speed is fairly important. Assuming there is no possible problem with the first (and if xcdroast took a long time to read any tract you can guarantee there is a problem there), have you tried burning at slower speed? I am not clear about what you are trying to do, but asume you are tying to copy an audio cd, and if this is correct, possibly a couple of suggestions, 1) Does the cd have any continuous audio tracks, meaning that each audio track though numbered as a seprerate track , the audio data is continuous without gaps, and a lot of modern teenage audio cd's are like this. If so delete your current cache and read them again with Do index scan DECOMPRESSED in the radio button in the read CD window. 2) Is this a modern audio cd, that is only recently released. and are you reading from writer, because if so you are probably up against audio encription on some of these tracks. I have had plenty of examples of such myself. There is a way round it. If you are copying mp3 audio files created with grip then the above does not apply. I have somewhat limited experience copying mp3 to disc .However if you did use grip could it be that there is something wrong with the way grip handled it, maybe grip came up against some problems that it did not resolve, but it did not inform you of. Have you played all the tracks to see that they are all playable. Remember xcdroast like all of these graphical front end cd writer programmes uses a variety of back end programmes to actually do the job, and the same applies to grip. [newbie] problem with xcdroast
I installed the system again. I thought if I had a fresh start everything would work out. Well, at least I got the modem to work without problems. I think I am really out of luck. Any audio cd I try to copy with xcdroast goes wrong. I also tried to encode the audio cd files into wav files with cdda2wav, but the problem persists. It is said there is a kind of mismatch because the program cannot read all the tracks. Thanks. Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
