But i still don't know why 8-?

I had some configuration problems, so i have installed 7.2 again. What
is not working is the SB32 pnp... sndconfig is not in the path (and i
haven't been able to find it) and DrakConf - hardware says that /dev/dsp
 is busy 8-?

Note: it's been working under this installation, but it stopped doing

2000-12-01 Thread chronos

Hi Joan,
Also when you get to the login prompt in Xwindows hit Ctrl-Alt-F2 that will
take you to a text based prompt and let you run sndconfig correctly. When you
are done type Ctrl-Alt-F7 that will take you back to your Xwindows login. Yes
this does work I did it on my mandrake box so I know for sure.

 thx

Kruloit's on the 7.2 extensions CD. If you don't have
the extensions CD it can be downloaded from any mirror that
has the 7.2 tree (in the tree the contents of the extensions
CD are included in the /RPMS/ directory). You can locate one
near you from this page of the Linux-Mandrake web site:

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftp.php3

For instance here is one location in Paris France:

I lowered my security the way you did, and the
supermount error disappeared, too. Thanks :)

I wonder why it happens, though.

Re: [[newbie] no sndconfig?]

2000-01-19 Thread Jennifer Villafranca

I ended up reinstalling the whole thing (I don't think
it was anywhere in my system at the time, because I
was doing locate *con* in practically all possible
directories). After reinstalling (I chose
Custom/Normal this time), sndconfig was there for all
the world to see. I'm thinking that maybe I didn't
install the package. So when I tried to correct the
error by checking for the package in the CD (as ppl in
this list suggested), I realised I couldn't access my
CDRom (see below), so I had to reinstalled the whole
thing.

Now, my problem is (I could swear I saw this problem a
few days ago, asked by someone else, but I must have
deleted it :( ), everytime I try to mount my cd rom,
this error comes out:

mount /mnt/cdrom
hdd: driver not present
hdd: driver not present
mount: /dev/dcrom is not a valid block device

Could anyone help me with this?

Also, everytime init starts, a message to the effect
of :supermount, not supported by kernel, appears.
Would someone explain this to me?

Thanks.

From a console try "whereis sndconfig" w/o the
 quotes, of course. If for
  some
reason it's not installed, look on the CD.
