Re: [newbie] netscape font problem
quaylar and all, Thank you so much. I will definitely have to check them out. That sounds like the ticket I needed! I can't stand these fonts in netscape either. Even larger they are pretty lame :) yoy should also check you this link at justinux.com - http://www.justlinux.com/bin/feature/story.pl?fid=1861565 - it'll tell you how to make use of nice looking truetype font on linux.

Re: [newbie] netscape font problem
Hi, Thanks Paul, since I got the 800x600 to work properly (Linux gave me 1024x768 in its infinite wisdom, even though I asked for 800x600), things are looking much better. Now that I can read stuff, it is looking pretty good. The fonts in X are abit jaggedy compared to the smoothness I am accustomered to in Windows :), but, that will come in time. One fella said that you can run TrueType fonts and that helps. I will be looking into that as well. You all have been great. I have learned so much from the lists and will continue to be very grateful for all of your experience and expertise. Have a great day, Bambi Paul wrote: On Sun, 21 May 2000, Fran Parker wrote: quaylar and all, Thank you so much. I will definitely have to check them out. That sounds like the ticket I needed! I went into Drakconf and saw 1024x768 and changed it it 800x600, now fonts are big enough for me to read easily icons are abit big too, but not as bad as 640x480 :) Sounds like mozilla fonts would be fonts for mozilla-based browsers, is that what they are? How are they different from the fonts that are available in Netscape 4.72? they are much larger and smoother..looking good..i do have set an resolution of 1024x768...and i too wasnt able to read those shitty fonts in netscape ;).but with the mozilla fonts it works pretty good.. --quaylar Thanks for your help. I got brave and changed the font size in netscape again and it took and it didn't do anything to my font server. This must have been when we were also playing around with other settings trying to get the hardware configured. So I can now read the mail without going blind. I chose 800x600 SVGA (on a 17" monitor) but it sure looks the fonts look so small in netscape, like 1024x768 to meyou know when 12pt looks like 8pt. I am happy with the mail reader now. Web pages ... we that's another issue :) Still too small there...but if you replace their fonts with yours the layout looks wrong. Oh, well. for fonts that are easy and big enough to read u should check out www.mandrakeuser.org.theres a section about browser probsespecially netscape.it explains how to install the mozilla fonts...they look pretty cool..no more probs. You need to install the 100dpi fonts, and then edit some netscape config file (if I am correct, better details on http://mandrakeuser.org). After that the fonts on NS are much larger.
