[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Helmet Holder

2017-03-01 Thread jrhoyt0895
The problem with putting a helmet over the mirror is that the mirror can
damage the inner lining of the helmet. If you're going to do this on a
regular basis, I recommend you mount round mirrors. At least it won't have
corners that poke your comfort lining and possibly damage the layers
underneath.

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Helmet Holder

2017-03-01 Thread jrhoyt0895
I can't remember the last time I used a helmet lock, but I have used it to
lock the D-ring on the strap to my motorcycle. I figure that if anyone
wants to cut the strap to steal my cheap smelly helmet and render it
useless (unable to fasten), he can have it. Usually, if I'm not going to
wear or take my helmet indoors, I'll strap it to my motorcycle with a
bungee net. More often than not, I use my helmet lock as an anchoring
point for a bungee net.

Would be cool if there was a 'D"-ring lock built into the handle bar or on
the end of a grip, for those of us who hang it over the mirror.

My MSF course talked about helmet life but i can't recall the timeline

makes sense that material exposed to it for any length of time will
suffer damage sooner or later.

Whether 4 or 5 years is the life-span, who knows?

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Helmet Speakers

2011-06-01 Thread Mt.-n-Man Chia Bar
These look like the ones that I use when I go skiing. The best part
about them is that they have an in line volume adjuster. It makes it
so that yo can have your Ipod or MP3 in a pocket and not have trouble
hearing when you slow down. Just the inline volume is worth the $20 as
I tried to replace mine when the wire broke and the cheapest I could
find was around $40.

hope this helps

2011-02-07 Thread mhillard
I don't think I like the look of these lights (they do look like
Eve ;-)), and have to think they do create some reverse glare at
night. I opted for reflective decals on my helmet to increase
visibility at night. Mine are black in color which almost disappear
on my black helmet during the day, but they really jump out when hit
with headlights at night. They also apply to all sides of the helmet,
including the front of my full-face helmet. Here is where I got them
from: http://www.reflectivedecals.com/, and they have several styles
and colors.

I had to do some "modification" to my HJC. Helmet fit great but
ested on the top of my forehead. To make it worse the HJC has a seam
ight at that point. Solution - dremel tool and grind out about 1/2
nch of the Styrofoam. A friend and fellow rider designs helmets for

odifications, now I did 550 in a day with no pain - in my head.
Moral of the story - you can fix anything with a dremel, hammer and
