[nlug] Photo Editing ... Simplified
This is to help my wife out, she is looking at using Picnik for online picture editing. The problem is we have between no and very low bandwidth available. We need a downloadable open source, and simple program that will run on XP. This will be used in a 2 hour class, only 1 really at the computer, and this is 11 to 18 yr olds. Suggestions? (offline responses are OK) ... Jack Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart... Colossians 3:23 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups NLUG group. Paint.Net -- it's not photoshop, but it's great. Not sure if it's open source, but it's free. http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html Gimp works pretty good under XP It is not the easiest necessarily to get started with BUT, there are lots of resources online (youtube included) and it is open source and free (and runs on linux too). But, it is quite functional. I have done some photoshop and, while not photoshop, I have managed some pretty sophisticated things with GIMP. Another *vector* based free drawing tool (along the lines, I think, of Adobe Illistrator) is Inkscape (http://inkscape.org/). GIMP, though, is raster graphics and that is what you need for photo editing. Mark J. Re: [nlug] Photo Editing ... Simplified
Gimp may be as good as it gets for free software. It's been around a long time and is still being developed, has zillions of downloads and plenty of resources. I've got it on my Ubuntu Linux machine so it's on several platforms. John Ford http://www.pbase.com/sfzjohn On Fri, Jan 21, 2011 at 3:23 PM, Mark J. Re: [nlug] Photo Editing ... Simplified
Thanks to all. I have a list and a few downloads I gave to my wife for her to evaluate. Sofar she thinks Gimp is to complicated to teach even the basics in under an hour. So she is going to work on others. Thanks ... Jack -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups NLUG group.
