FY1,

Sorry I need immediate help from IT guru's

I have a situation running client on a W3K BOX with crystal client running on
one box and trying to communicate to the crystal server for processing to the
other server. The issue at hand is that the client box is unable to communicate
to the crystal server box and it talks at port 6400,, i have allowed all ports
on the server open.

Also so far i have checked Mcafee and no issues there I have reinstalled the
crystal client on first server. I can communicate to the crystal server box
from my desktop or anyother desktop ...its just that the client server is
unable to talk to the crystal server. and both the servers are on the same
subnet and i did network probes as well the servers talk to each other.any
help appreciated and also when i click on userid and password it gives java
error at the bottom of the IE as well.

help is appreciated and thanks in advance

Looking for new Robust utility

2008-07-03 Thread RITA KAUR
Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a robust and user friendly tool to be installed on the server,
which I can monitor
and see what the systems admin's do when they user their individual accounts
for troubleshooting a application on the server so that
their activities can be logged for future reference.
We need this in order to make sure that the outside vendor is providing the
care and servicing the application when the server goes down.
Please help as I have to implement the solution ASAP...i am still googling to
find something
Cheers

Subject: Remote Control Application

I help manage a network across town.  There resides a pc on their network that
has a specialized application for printing.  I need to be able to gain access
of the display, keyboard and mouse from my office or my home to access that
application periodically during the week without any user intervention on their
side.

We currently use "gotomeeting.com" but that requires them to start a meeting
and since the pc is in a distant location in their building they don't like it.

Anyone have a good solution?  Anyone have a GREAT Solution?
Thanks

Re: Need opinion on Blade Servers

Blade servers are the way to go in terms of space and cost and also for future
enhancements and go virtualization.

Why isn’t it supported?

I’m with Shook and most of the other folks. Microsoft’s virtualization software
(both server and PC) are free and the learning curve is not very steep at all.
I built a complete network (DC ,member server, Vista and XP systems) with
Virtual PC on desktop hardware (a single GX270 )with 4GB in no more time that
it takes to normal create those systems.

I also have VMWare workstation…pretty similar stuff, and the ability to go from
physical to virtual (P2V) is stupidly easy and effective as well. A single fast
box, full of redundant disk space and RAM will be cheaper than a blade center +
blades.

Also, once VM’d you can duplicate the entire network on desktop hardware and
have a test environment for the price of the OS licenses.

Small Business Server is not supported by our software and our trading system
uses SQL databases that have to be on a separate box as well.

It all depends on the needs of the firm. My knee-jerk was to put in a SBS box
for everything since its only eight people, however, there may be more to it
than meets the eye. (Dude, transformers are awesome!!)

As far as host based virtualization, I think this environment would be an ideal
candidate. It’s small and there is no physical space allocated for severs. I
would look into the option of taking your beefiest box, maxing out the RAM and
putting everything I could on it.

My outside view, $.02
