Re: ESET vs VIPRE
Little things... Occasionally the connection to the SQL database drops and reconnects within a few seconds. We might go a couple days without this happening then it'll occur 2-3 times in one day. It doesn't cause a problem for us, just a couple emails indicating the dropped and restored connection. So far support hasn't been able to nail this down. A few machines had issues with the recent agent upgrade. I had to manually remove and reinstall VIPRE on 3 or 4. An annoyance but relatively minor. Most of our boxes are newer HPs with 2-4 GB RAM. Users still whine when weekly deep scan takes place. It does slow the machines down a bit but the scan is definitely faster than the previous product - MS Forefront. As we replace boxes I'm looking at moving the deep scan to evening hours when their not in use. I'm irritated that the installation of remote update servers want to install SQL Server Express even though they don't need a database to hand out definition updates. Overall, though, I'm satisfied with the level of protection, and also with the ease of deployment and management. Roger Wright ___ Life isn't like a box of chocolates. David, Support has gone to a web form. The problem with the email address is that a lot gets dropped and mis-managed due to the volume of emails.
