I try to buy me beans within a few days of them being roasted...not sure if
Fry's would get the month/year old specials, but that is a good price for
beans.

I haven't bought coffee beans from Starbuck's or Carribou's in a few years

I seriously doubt they'd pass the one week fresh test, but they are very
good, one of the more consistent, better tasting dark roasts, especially for
that price

Coffee is burnt beans - it tastes burnt to me, and always has.

Tea is good, especially Tazo's Awake tea, if you want caffeine, but I
like the Republic of Tea offerings as well.

by the group that seems to operate the Dunkin franchises in this area. NOT
worth my effort to try to order what I want and get out quickly based on
 experience, YMMV

As to Starbuck's, they quit serving dark roast after noon (ironic since it
has *less* caffeine than lighter roasts) and rarely did I order any foo-foo
from them. And I *DO* order as 'small', 'medium', or 'large', and if they
try to correct me on THEIR language, I either correct them or walk out,
because *I* am the customer spending MY money

Always need to go with 3 extra shots on a Venti Latte to achieve
suitable flavor satisfaction from Starbucks; whereas, Dunkin' serves up
a consistent mud.

For those of us in the north east know that there is only 1 place to get
coffee. WAWA!

DnD would be my second choice. I havn't had a coffee from McD's in a
few years at least.

If you ever get a chance to be in the area, you need to stop by a WaWa.
My dad lives in Colorado and he visited one by me (philly area) and a
year later still talks about how good the coffee was. They also give
you your choice of any coffee additive(sugar, sugar subs., flavored
creamers) you'd like.

Oh you're right... I keep thinking when Clinton was in office for some
reason. When they had those fancy state dinners at the White House, they
used the Marines as servers... because Hillary said that they look cute
oh well...

+1 ... we used to enjoy DD's French Roast, but IMHO their quality suffered a
lot recently.

We currently buy our beans from a local roaster. Starbucks became the
McDonald's of coffee years ago IMHO. When they started opening SB stands inside
Target and Safeway that really put the icing on the cake.

Haven't tried McD's upscale coffees yet.

That said, when we're travelling if we can't find a local shop we'll settle for
SB.

Just my two cents on the issue :

I prefer a 'good' dark roast ... I tried McD's premium coffee when they came
out with it, and it wasn't discernable from the stuff they served before ...
I'm frustrated around here by the apparent lack of english speaking skills
by the group that seems to operate the Dunkin franchises in this area. NOT
worth my effort to try to order what I want and get out quickly based on
experience, YMMV

As to Starbuck's, they quit serving dark roast after noon (ironic since it
has *less* caffeine than lighter roasts) and rarely did I order any foo-foo
from them. And I *DO* order as 'small', 'medium', or 'large', and if they
try to correct me on THEIR language, I either correct them or walk out,
because *I* am the customer spending MY money
