Re: There is a new Certification in town... I passed my CISSP

2010-03-05 Thread Andrew Levicki
Hi Richard,

I did the MCITP:EA first then the MCSE 2003 and I can tell you that
the MCSE was more challenging even though I had much much more hands
on experience of 2003.

I just used the MS Press self-paced training kit and measureup.com for
training materials.

I highly recommend it because 2008 is gaining traction and some
organisations are starting to ask for MCITP.

Good luck.

I've done MCSE2003 -> MCITP. If you have experience with Win2k8 and the topics
it covers, it's not particularly difficult.

I'm usually a pretty good test taker, and haven't really had any trouble with
the MS exams I've taken (so far). I do remember reading the first problem on
my Windows 2000 MCSE design exam and thinking, "Wow. I have no earthly idea
how to answer this." Being completely stumped like that was a first. I
started at it for about 10 minutes then decided to move on and answer the other
two. By the time I came back to it, the problem made sense. I think that was
the hardest IT exam I've taken.

Speaking of exams, has anyone gone the MCSE 2003 --> MCITP route yet? All the
talk of exams here lately has prompted me to go ahead and commit to knocking

I calculated it, as sick as it was...

4 hrs per day 4 days a week (average). Average 22 days a month studying
from August 2009 to Feb 20th 2010.

4 x 22 x 7= 616 hrs... and that isn't adding 10 week of a self study
course that I ran with 10 others at my workplace for the prep.

Yeah I got tired of running m$ rat race back in like 2004, so I am sure
this year the rest of the M$ certs will run out, which I don't mind, as
I am heading the security route, having a MCTIP or MCSE, or any M$
degree really doesn't affect me much anymore. I am going to be playing
more in the ISACA and SANS certs, along with maintaining my new CISSP
for years to come...

Congrats!

Now hopefully you won't be like me - got my CISSP years ago, never was
able to get work from it, then ended up letting it expire...:(

2010-03-04 Thread Ziots, Edward
Exam was hell, I think my SAT's was easier than that exam honestly, I
know I didn't want to take it again if I had failed. I am super thankful
that I passed. Now its on to the CISM and CISA accordingly, and I might
as well throw in a C.E.H while I am at it this year.
