[nysbirds-l] Accabonac Harbor, East Hampton: tree swallow and osprey return
I heard a report of osprey returning to the South Fork last week, but today was my FOS osprey for Accabonac Harbor, along with same for a lone tree swallow. No piping plover yet as far as I know. Also seen: a kestrel, a few cedar waxwing, yellow-rumps, and double-crested cormorants enroute to Gardiners Island. Returning home I was greeted by an osprey calling over my house. *Bruce Horwith* *16 Salt Marsh Path* *East Hampton, NY 11937* *(631) 599-0040* -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[nysbirds-l] Quogue Wildlife (Suffolk County) - Winter Wren
Between 11:00-11:45 this AM, a Winter Wren, Purple Finch and Hermit Thrush were seen along the boardwalk and Dam Trail area at Quogue Wildlife Refuge. The Winter Wren responded to a tape(played in the Chocolate Pudding Pond area), and was clearly seen for 3-4 minutes. Pine Warblers were also in the eastern part of the Refuge, heard and seen along Old Country Rd. [nysbirds-l] Pine Warblers, Central Park, NYC 3/23
Wednesday, 23 March, 2016 - Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City Multiple Pine Warblers (those I know of all males, some that have been singing) in at least 4 locations that I'm aware of (two having been seen or heard), as follows: near the northern end of the park, well east of the Blockhouse at the site known as the Lily Ponds, the lower portion nearer to the park Drive (not too far from 110 St.); and, at the King of Poland statue, working a bit north from there; and, at the west side of the Maintenance Field (heard, & seen by others); & one near the Mall along the eastern edge away from Sheep Meadow - likely a couple more may also be around. Other freshly-arrived migrants seemed a bit scant, but there well could be a number of species that also arrived. There was a slightly surprising movement of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, most evident in the far north end of the park. Various other sightings will no doubt filter in, and absolutely more this week. Thanks to several observers for their sightings, with more sure to be seen. good birding, Tom Fiore Manhattan -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
