Greetings All,
The bird is indeed being seen near 712 Sandhill Road but this location is in Ulster County, east of SGNWR as the goose flies. Many thanks again to Bruce Nott for discovering this county first yesterday.

2017-02-07 Thread Richard Guthrie
Ken McDermott called minutes ago to report that he is seeing the previously
reported Pink-footed Goose with a small group of Canada Geese in a horse
corral at 712 Sandhill Road near Warwick, NY.

The road, though lightly traveled, is narrow at that site is at a curve
limiting sight line distance for oncoming vehicle traffic. So appropriate
caution is advised.

FW: [nysbirds-l] Pink-footed Goose - Orange County

2011-11-15 Thread Curt McDermott

The Pink-footed Goose remained in the small grassy area behind the Provident
Bank until approx. 5:10 PM when it and the 11 Canada Geese it was with, headed
East presumably to spend the night on the Wallkill River.

There are two posts regarding this sighting on the Mearnsbirdclub listserv. I'm
pasting the most recent post (from 4:45 PM) below in italics (the first post
was verbatim what was posted under the eBird species comments in Tom's first
post):

Ken McDermott and Danny Messina have re-located the Pink-footed Goose -
currently it's behind the Provident Bank off of Schutt Road (same plaza as the
Price Chopper).

Congrats to Deb and Lee on the find. If anyone has it tomorrow morning, please
post if you can!

Great bird!

NYSbirders,

Here's another eBird report of the Pink-footed Goose from this

afternoon - apparently the bird was relocated. Are there more details

about the sightings that could be shared with the list?

home to get his camera (We don't have cell phones so no camera with
us.), but the birds were gone when we returned. We've been driving
all around the area looking for them to no avail. The goose is
smaller than a Canada. Its bill is short with black at the base and
tip with pink in the middle. It has very pink legs. We couldn't see
the feet in the grass. The body is light brownish with the head a bit
darker. Eyes are dark. White under tail coverts. White edge on
wing. We've seen these in England. They differ from White-fronted
which has orange legs, all pink bill (Juveniles can have a black
tip.), and white on forehead and behind bill."
