That's also precisely when stocks and commodities rallied.
Now, six months later, even the Fed chairman has declared the worst is 
over.What's changed?
In a word: psychology.
The natural flow of investor psychology has traced out a recognizable pattern. 
As optimism builds, so does the perception of a recovery. It's to be expected 
-- even predictable. After all, the simple truth is that investors, advisors 
and analysts alike herd. Positive price action -- in their minds -- begets 
other positive action. It's all-too similar to the optimism we observed in late 
2007, when various markets stood at or near their all-time highs.
But today not even the so-called fundamentals support the notion of a 
recovery:a. Large pockets of the U.S. real estate market, including metro 
Atlanta, are still racking up record monthly foreclosures.b. The global 
shipping industry has slowed to a crawl; thousands of ships around the world 
sit empty and idle.c. Bank credit and the M3 money supply have been contracting 
at rates comparable to the onset of the Great Depression.d. And believe it or 
not, reports are surfacing of lending institutions returning to their old 
tricks from two years ago.
It's time to debunk the recovery hype. Now the rally is waning. A downside 
reversal is imminent.

resiko utama selain eksekusi ada di kebutuhan kapital yg cukup gede untuk

sejauh ini neraca medc sih masih nopang. tunggu lampu ijo izin aja.

kalo timing ngerjainnya tepat (ekonomi membaik), area 47 ini asetnya bagus
jd harusnya bisa dapet funding dr luaran di level biaya bunga yg cukup baik.

 Yea i've build initial position on this counter recent., whether to
 build up some more sizable size on this is whats makes me think over.

 unless say its go down a bit floorer, i wont hesitate to do so. the
 stock is battered. the downside is already reflected. but the upside is

 dont enter this particular counter much of its declining production and

 block A. short term catalyst is Block A extension permission granted. but
 that delayed production expand is troublesome.

 trader should be fine w that. any news on relaxing condition of
 permission granted of their prospect should be transmitted quickly on the
 price. but i am still obliged to take a cautious tone on this kind of oil &
 gas bussiness.

 yea this counter is surely underrated. too much underrated, not because
 of fundamentals but

The Berkshire Hathaway chief notes the 'irony' in the BofA chief having saved 
the system -- by overpaying for Merrill Lynch just hours before it would have 
failed.

NEW YORK (Fortune) -- Warren Buffett came to bury Ken Lewis, not to praise him.

Buffett, the billionaire investor who runs Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA, Fortune 
500), said Tuesday at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit in San Diego that 
Lewis -- the embattled Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500) chief executive 
officer -- was the "ironic hero" of last September's economic meltdown.

But make no mistake, the emphasis was on ironic. Buffett's comments portray 
Lewis as a sort of Mr. Magoo of global finance, bumbling into trouble in 
stubborn pursuit of banking greatness -- and unintentionally saving the world 
in the process.

Lewis may have "inadvertently saved" the financial system by agreeing to buy 
Merrill Lynch in a stock swap that was initially worth $45 billion, Buffett 
told Fortune's Carol Loomis in an on-stage interview.

Buffett said Lewis' hasty decision to buy Merrill on Sept. 14 -- the day before 
Lehman Brothers collapsed in the biggest-ever U.S. bankruptcy and threw the 
global financial system into chaos -- may have helped avert a total meltdown.

"If you think Lehman Brothers was bad, imagine Lehman compounded by Merrill 
Lynch," Buffett said. "I don't know what [the authorities] would have done."

If the Merrill deal solved one imminent crisis for policymakers, it only 
intensified the criticism of Lewis as an empire builder who hurt shareholders 
by turning BofA into a risk-laden colossus.

Buffett alluded to that view in his comments Tuesday. As regulators pressured 
Wall Street leaders over the weekend of Sept. 13-14 to find a private sector 
solution for Lehman's insolvency, Lewis was rushing to cinch a takeover that 
would give him control of Merrill's top-notch wealth management and investment 
banking franchises.

And even though it was understood that Merrill Lynch would have trouble 
surviving once Lehman went down, Buffett noted that Lewis seemed to have 
inexplicably adopted the view that price was no object.

"Why pay X for Merrill Sunday when you could have had it for pennies on 
Monday?" Buffett said. "When Lehman failed, Merrill would have gone about five 
seconds later."

Lewis has emphasized the strategic advantages of the Merrill deal, and indeed 
the bank's trading unit has turned a nice profit in this year's bounceback 
rally in the stock market.

Lewis also said last October that he chose to buy Merrill that Sunday because a 
bankruptcy filing would have left "a tarnished brand." But the pristine Merrill 
brand ended up carrying quite a price tag.

Barclays (BCS) -- the British bank whose efforts to buy Lehman earlier in the 
weekend were scotched by British banking regulators concerned about the risks 
of an acquisition -- ended up following Buffett's wait-it-out game plan in the 
days after Lehman's implosion. Barclays bought Lehman's investment banking 
operations and its midtown Manhattan headquarters last year for less than $2 
billion.

By contrast, BofA ended up paying $19 billion in stock for Merrill. The lower 
figure reflects the 58% plunge in the value of BofA shares between the 
announcement of the deal and its closing Jan. 1.

BofA investors haven't forgotten. They stripped Lewis of his chairmanship in 
April. Lewis now finds himself at the center of controversies in New York and 
Washington over the bank's disclosures and the role of regulators in pushing 
the deal to completion.

Buffett also made light of the fairness opinions that BofA got that weekend 
from a pair of investment bankers for the low price of just $10 million each 
for 24 hours of work. He noted that in buying a firm the size of Merrill, it 
would take months for BofA to appreciate what it was really getting.

That judgment is borne out by January's second bailout of BofA -- which the 
bank, in another bit of irony, now claims it didn't need.

Of course, Buffett has a bit of a vested interest in criticizing BofA and 
Lewis. Berkshire has big stakes in three major BofA competitors -- Wells Fargo 
(WFC, Fortune 500), U.S. Bancorp (USB, Fortune 500) and Goldman Sachs (GS, 
Fortune 500).

But Buffett's far from alone in wondering why Lewis couldn't wait a day to 
scoop up Merrill. In the understatement of the crisis, analyst Brad Hintz last 
September called BofA's offer price "favorable" for Merrill, given the paucity 
of other acquirers and the problems on Merrill's balance sheet.

So why pay up for a bank on the brink in the midst of a global bank run?

"That is a puzzler," Buffett said at the Fortune conference Tuesday. "That one 
we'll leave for somebody else."

No Significant revenue contributing Yet up til now. atleast not on this 3-5

Lampung Plant has commenced. quite okay, but no significant revenue
contribute.

CBM is still an incubator and pilot project phase.

Cash is adequate for expansion tough, and they do not overspend on
exploration and acquisition and handle it nicely (which is assures a good
management).

they focus and wait for Area 47, Senoro and Sarulla Permit to go and starts
deployed their cash.

but the ball is not on Medco, its on the regulator. euh again, talkin bout
politics and execution risks.

the bittersweet part of Oil & Gas Bussiness. Politics and regulations.
problematic aren't they?

IHSG berjalan dari harga 2380an ke 2470 an berajalan dalam 3 wave

jika kita asumsikan wave satu dari
2380 -2340
dan wave 2 dari 2440 -2430

maka perjalannan wave 3 dari 2430 ke 2470  panjangnya baru 61.8% dari
panjang wave 1

jika terjadi equal movement maka targetnya ada di 2500

Koreksi terakhir dari 2472 ke 2450 an sudah selsesai 3 wave

sekarang baru muncul 1 wave rebound...semoga bisa balik ke peak 2472 dan
touch ke 2500an

Kalo saya sih masih percaya BTEL bagus..
Selama dia masih tumbuh, saya akan keep.
Memang persaingan ketat dan margin nya termasuk lebih kecil dibanding TLKM
dan ISAT, tapi kalo pertumbuhan lebih menjanjikan BTEL.

a Lenong Betawi?). I guess, Block A, Sarula Geothermal Project, and Kaji at 
Lematang (South Sumatera) will count Medco for now. Also watch Bunyu Plant. In 
the long term, Area 47 progress would count, APEX was sold to set initial 
finance for this major plan. Some clues in the LK?

Yea i've build initial position on this counter recent., whether to build up 
some more sizable size on this is whats makes me think over.

granted of their prospect should be transmitted quickly on the price. but i am 
still obliged to take a cautious tone on this kind of oil & gas bussiness.

 
yea this counter is surely underrated. too much underrated, not because of 
fundamentals but its because its lagging execution of its prospect, some of 
which out of their domain. 
 
nonetheless for now i prefer it go further down. it'd be more delicate to 
collect. 
time is our friend w this counter. sooner or later. 47 and Senoro will still 
have to be commencing. its only matter of time, err sorry.., matter of 
execution.., lousy execution now. more time to accumulate at good price before 
the GSA finalized period is better.

Den BEI lagi dijaga abies2-an.. terutama minggu2 belakangan ini.. 
Ini udah diluar kerangka Ekonomi lagi.. (biasanya politis)
Saat ini semua hal yg bisa diguna-in, pasti tak dilewatkan..
Lawannya mungkin hanya perkembangan kondisi eksternal/global..
USD melemah cepat, hati2 dg PT cross market..
Beberapa indikator teknikal sudah menunjukkan divergensi dg pergerakan 
IHSG/harga saham, sepintas memang mirip kondisi pada akhir 2007..

Thx utk yg udah mendoakan, dilahirkan susah payah dari tgl 16 september jam 9

im personally short term bearish - long term bullish on MEDC.


MEDC's trouble is execution risk. sometimes its something beyond their
jurisdiction. regulator's slow pace, or sometimes even politics.

Senoro is a "no-go" if it has to go on domestic scheme... too big of
investment and funding to be made, with little IRR on domestic demand price.
size of funding local banks needed to replace JBIC's commitment if the gas
is to go on "domestic supply scheme" is too big to be arranged in 12 Months
time. what came to halt it (the japan upstream scheme) was an instruction
from mr Kalla last year to switch the gas availability to domestic market.
which is a nice decision, but If Only Domestic market could accept the gas
price at the rate Kansai and Chubu willing to pay, and local Banks could
give credit commitment as long and rate as low as JBIC's commitment. its a
deadlock now Senoro. investment is too big and if the gas is sold not at the
international market price, than it wont support the IRR needed to commence
the project. good things nat gas price is soaring now. that should put a
little endorsement to find a win-win solution to all stakeholders and
execute the project as soon as possible.

Block A is a nearer catalyst. it will be commencing on 2011 if things go
well. problem is, the gas buyer is ready and have signed the term w medco.
medco has prepare the capex needed to (internal cash for this project). but
BP MIGAS has not give the extention license yet up til now. they were
working at amazingly slow pace. no wonder our country's oil lifting is keep
on declining.

Area 47 is a hot prospect. Verenex was able to sell its share at $400 Mn to
China Oil when its development cost up til now is only $ 100 Mn, it means
Medc has the potential to cash in some parts of its 50 % ownership at about
same price. around $ 300 Mn gain. well it used to, Libyan government
declined the deal and chose to buy verenex's share at the same price. so a
further delay too for Area 47.

Rimau Is Maturing, volume wise medc's oil lifting is awful. but an
additional gas lifting from singa should counter balance the overall oil
equivalent declines in this 2 years. before block A starts contributing.

MEDC earning outlook is bleak this 2 years given the declining lifting
volume condition (unless oil soars back to $100)

but my biggest concern is not all that, it is this asset play scenario ;

Medc big prospects; Senoro, Block A, Area 47 is not entering GSA (General
Sales Agreement) yet.

On Balance Sheet, Asset Side Of The Balance, on Long Term Assets

Take A Good Look at "Oil and Gas" Account after depreciation.

MEDC's Volume lifting had been declining since 3 years ago.

but the amount of this oil and gas assets is increasing. 100 Mn increase on
2007 from 06 and 60 Mn Increase on 08 vs 07.

why so?.

Assets starts Producing. the capacities is there and hefty. only the
execution is lagging.

Medc has booked their 2P reserves amounting 191,538 Mboe on their current
balance.

But They Also Has a deposit of nearly 350,000 Mboe on their contingent
reserves.

Contingent Reserves is not allowed to be booked on balance sheet unless its
entering GSA Phase.

and of their 350,000 Mboe Contingent Reserves, Libya 47 and Senoro
contribute nearly 300,000 Mboe.

darn MEDC asset is good, but the execution progress is really awful.


Earning-Wise this year and 2010. unless Oil soars back to $100 it would not
be impressive. i even go as far that earnings wont significantly folding
before 2013, time when senoro and 47 starts revenue contributing.

so its not a very cool investment spot from that angle.

trouble is, it is already on the news, stock is battered. what might come as
a surprise is there could be positive development on Senoro and 47, and that
could means a big big jump comin over. the Senoro and 47 is a real prospect.
The Reserves is really there available and Studies for development has
already made

when GSA is signed,

MEDC would switch its Contingent Reserves (Off Balance) to Oil & Gas Assets
on their book balance.

Assets would jump, so will Book Value, so will valuation.

one step further monetization would be MEDC capitalized some of its assets
and sold it to strategic partner. hence cashing out some good size of money
from the deal. another Non Operating Profit (Extr Items) is expected to
materialized on 2-3 years period.



Dang its dilemmatic this MEDC. it is the only worthy oil play in IDX.
execution risk is troubling, production is declining. entering
capital-intensive period too. but management is fine and long term assets is
too good too be ignored

Apakah ini punya dampak dengan saham yang listing ?

Jakarta - PT Asuransi Jiwa Bakrie (Bakrie Life) diduga
gagal membayar bunga serta pokok seluruh nasabahnya dengan nilai
mendekati Rp 400 miliar. Hal itu ditengarai disebabkan penyelewengan
penempatan portofolio yang dilakukan oleh manajemen perseroan.
 
 "Total gagal bayar sekitar Rp 350-400 miliar," keluh salah seorang nasabah 
Bakrie Life , Rabu (16/9/2009).
 

Nasabah tersebut menduga, gagal bayar Bakrie Life disebabkan adanya
penyelewengan penempatan portofolio yang melampaui batas dan
terkonsentrasi pada saham-saham grup Bakrie.
 
 "Kelihatannya ada
kebijakan menyimpang ketika Bakrie Life dengan menumpukkan dana nasabah
di saham grup sendiri (grup Bakrie) hingga 70-80%. Ini kan berpotensi
melanggar aturan yang membolehkan penempatan hanya sekitar 5-10% di
portofolio saham," ujarnya.
 
 Ketika seluruh saham-saham grup
Bakrie ambruk saat krisis tahun 2008, otomatis ikut menyeret portofolio
Bakrie Life yang ditempatkan pada saham-saham grup Bakrie. Akhirnya,
Bakrie Life pun tidak dapat mengalami gagal bayar lantaran dananya
nyangkut saat kejatuhan tersebut.
 
 Nasabah tersebut juga
melihat ada itikad tidak baik dari manajemen Bakrie Life lantaran
hendak mengalihkan tanggung jawab penyelesaian tunggakan kepada
investor baru yang tidak bergerak di bidang asuransi.
 
 "Bakrie
Life menawarkan ke Maxima Financindo untuk membereskan dana kita dengan
sistem cicilan, jelas kita tolak. Kita juga mempertanyakan apakah
pengalihan itu sudah dilaporkan ke Bapepam atau belum. Kita khawatir
akuisisi sebuah perusahaan asuransi oleh industri keuangan non asuransi
dalam posisi bermasalah seperti ini pasti ditolak otoritas,” katanya.
