Fwd: New links for localization web page
Forwarding from the ooo-L10n list. Is MirrorBrain down? -Rob -- Forwarded message -- From: Andrea Pescetti Date: Thu, Jul 26, 2012 at 9:40 AM Subject: Re: New links for localization web page To: ooo-l...@incubator.apache.org risto@saunalahti.fi wrote: > > I find out that downloading link in Finnish web-page is not working > anymore: > http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/localized/fi/3.3.0/OOo_3.3.0_Win_x86_install-wJRE_fi.exe It seems we lost MirrorBrain without notice: http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/ appears to be completely empty. This is quite bad, we have lots of MirrorBrain links around. > Need to change link to: > http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/localized/fi/3.3.0/ That one will likely work. Or http://archive.apache.org/dist/incubator/ooo/localized/fi/3.3.0/ will work too, but SourceForge is probably ready for a significant download traffic of version 3.3.0, while the Apache archives are not meant to sustain significant traffic. OK, I opened https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-5118 to make this temporary redirection permanent (at DNS level). Feel free to correct any mistakes directly in the issue page. I assume that volunteers and committers that have access to the discontinued MirrorBrain server (like Joost and Marcus) will be offered access to the new server too, just in case. Regards, Andrea.

The redirection is now effective. So the legacy download.services.openoffice.org server points straight to MirrorBrain at the moment, and legacy download links work. Regards, Andrea.

Hi Rob, it seems so...but Peter's own MirrorBrain OOo MirrorBrain page is still working. So we're constantly one hiccup away for that service failing entirely. If the directory structure is the same this could be an easy search and replace operation (or a small set of them) on ooo-site. This is also the way I would go. Am I right that the "download.services.openoffice.org" service is still hosted by Oracle? Wasn't there a plan to decommission it? So, I wouldn't rely any longer on this but switch to, e.g., openoffice.mirrorbrain.org as it's already done for the legacy downloads. Marcus looks like it fails whenever this site is involved http://openoffice.mirrors.tds.net which isn't surprising I suppose as when I go to that site directly and then to the OpenOffice page - all files have all been removed. arrgh... Do we know whether SF has a complete copy of the OOo 3.3.0 files, with all languages/platforms? -Rob > > > >> > >> >> >> >> >> looks like it fails whenever this site is involved >> >> >> http://openoffice.mirrors.tds.net >> >> >> >> >> >> which isn't surprising I suppose as when I go to that site directly >> and >> >> >> then to the OpenOffice page - all files have all been removed. >> >> >> >> >> >> arrgh... >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> > >> >> >> > >> >> >> > Am 26.07.2012 15:56, schrieb Rob Weir: >> >> >> > > Forwarding from the ooo-L10n list. >> >> >> > > >> >> >> > > Is MirrorBrain down? >> >> >> > > >> >> >> > >> >> >> > Kind regards, Joost >> >> >> > >> >> >> > >> >> >> > >> >> >> >> >> >> >> >> > >> >> > >> >> >> > >> > >> > >> > -- >> > >> >> > MzK >> > >> > "I'm just a normal jerk who happens to make music. >> > As long as my brain and fingers work, I'm cool." >> > -- Eddie Van Halen >> > > > > -- > > MzK > > "I'm just a normal jerk who happens to make music. > As long as my brain and fingers work, I'm cool." > -- Eddie Van Halen

The directory is empty since a few weeks (a so-called "shared folder" mounted in the VirtualBox guest running MirrorBrain). I don't know why that is, if intentional or oversight, you'd have to ask Oracle to find out. I have configured a HTTP redirect to my replacement server on .mirrorbrain.org now. I hope that helps you. Why download.services.openoffice.org still has address 192.9.173.38 even though we agreed (IIRC) that the DNS should be changed to my server, I don't know... (If anyone wants to fix the Oracle-hosted download server 192.9.173.38, there's also another annoying problem: network setup seems to have been changed some months ago; scanning mirrors per FTP is no longer possible. NAT doesn't allow outgoing FTP anymore.) Whatever we replace in the openoffice.org HTML pages, there's a huge number of links out there pointing to http://download.services.openoffice.org so it's very good to have them redirected. Why download.services.openoffice.org still has address 192.9.173.38 even though we agreed (IIRC) that the DNS should be changed to my server, I don't know... I was about to ask Infra to redirect http://download.services.openoffice.org to http://openoffice.mirrorbrain.org but it seems it's already done. The old links appear to work normally now. Example: http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/localized/fi/3.3.0/OOo_3.3.0_Win_x86_install-wJRE_fi.exe Regards, Andrea.

Re: Removing a Mirror from MirrorBrain [Was: Re: New links for localization web page]
Hi, looks like it fails whenever this site is involved http://openoffice.mirrors.tds.net So the answer should be to remove that mirror from the "Brain". Does anyone know how to do that? someone with shell access to MirrorBrain (Marcus Lange, Peter Poeml and me) can remove that entry from MirrorBrain's database (command: 'mb disable tds'). I did that as I still have user access to it but it has no effect to download.services.openoffice.org. Maybe the web service needs some time. The command 'mb list' returns the following active mirrors: cermin.safve.my openoffice.mirror.aussiehq.net.au mirror-fpt-telecom-1.fpt.net ftp.roedu.net mirrors.evolva.ro mirror.7he.at ftp.chu.edu.tw ftp.akl.lt openoffice.cs.utah.edu ftp.kaist.ac.kr ring.yamanashi.ac.jp mirror.space.kz sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de mirror.pscigrid.gov.ph ring.maffin.ad.jp mirror.switch.ch mirror-cybernet.lums.edu.pk artfiles.org mirror.yongbok.net ftp.oss.eznetsols.org openoffice.petsads.us ring.k-opti.com kambing.ui.ac.id mirror.averse.net openoffice.patan.com.ar mirror.aarnet.edu.au ftp.saix.net ftp.osuosl.org openoffice.org.mirrors.irontec.com openoffice.mirrors.ilisys.com.au ring.nihon-u.ac.jp ucho.ignum.cz halifax.rwth-aachen.de ftp.piotrkosoft.net ftp.is.co.za ftp.byfly.by ftp.snt.utwente.nl mirror-fpt-telecom-2.fpt.net www.ellak.gr mirror.pacific.net.au ftp.proxad.net ftp.man.poznan.pl ftp.bayanat.com.sa ftp.linux.org.tr ftp.rhnet.is openoffice.mirror.rafal.ca ftp.rz.tu-bs.de ftp3.gwdg.de ftp4.gwdg.de mirror.adriaticus.org mirror.dacentec.com ftp.fernuni-hagen.de ftp.astral.ro ftp.kddilabs.jp ftp.jaist.ac.jp ring.yokohama.riken.jp mirrors.bevc.net ftp.fsf.hu openoffice.thisinfo.info ftp.fu-berlin.de mirrors.fe.up.pt ciril.fr ring.aist.go.jp ftp.idilis.ro ftp.udc.es waia.asn.au ftp.tpnet.pl mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca mirrors.dotsrc.org upm.edu.my ring.u-toyama.ac.jp ftp.yz.yamagata-u.ac.jp ftp.uni-muenster.de ooo.mirror.dkm.cz ftp.isu.edu.tw mirror.checkdomain.de ftp.tu-chemnitz.de ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de openoffice.dcc.fc.up.pt openoffice.c3sl.ufpr.br ftp.uni-erlangen.de ftp.solnet.ch ring.ix.oita-u.ac.jp linorg.usp.br ooo.mirror.garr.it openoffice.cict.fr ftp.uasw.edu labby.co.uk ftp.heanet.ie gd.tuwien.ac.at ftp.cc.uoc.gr mirror.ac.ke ftp.ntua.gr ftp.twaren.net openoffice.mirrors.pair.com ftp5.gwdg.de ftp.free.fr ftp.sh.cvut.cz mirrors.virginmedia.com ftp.spnet.net ring.nict.go.jp mirror.isoc.org.il ftp.belnet.be mirror.lupaworld.com ftp.openoffice.skynet.be ring.airnet.ne.jp www.mirrorservice.org ring.shibaura-it.ac.jp ftp.sunet.se ftp.cse.yzu.edu.tw iitm.ac.in ftp.funet.fi ftp.ussg.iu.edu Kind regards, Joost
