I thought the link I had sent yesterday would help but after a second search, 
it seems that AOO cannot use a webmail as default client, which is not really 
surprising.
Launching an application is not the same as launching the web browser, then 
connect to the correct url with correct login, then create a new message and 
finally create the attachment.

*File -- Send ... Document as E-mail**..*  brings up the following two
messages:

There is no email program associated to perform the requested action.
Please install an email program, or if one is already installed, create an
association in the Default Programs control panel

Open Office.Org was unable to find a working email configuration. Please
save this document locally,and attach it from within your email client.

Rachel,
Click the disclosure arrowhead (little triangle thingy) to the left of the word 
Internet. You should then see three choices: Proxy, Search, and E-mail. Click 
E-mail
The only thing this choice will allow you to do is to set the e-mail client by 
either typing in the entire path, or browsing the file system and selecting it. 

If you select OpenOffice-Preferences... and your dialog does not behave as 
described, it's likely that something's wrong with your AOO installation.

I have set AOO as the default program as I have also done for Google.  I've
checked all the boxes for both.--- still no joy.
