[openhealth] Registration for VistA Community Meeting / January 9-11, 2007 / NIST, Gaithersbu
As you may be aware, the next VistA Community Meeting will be at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, MD, USA, Tuesday through Thursday, January 9-11, 2007. We hope that you will be able to attend. The URL for registration for those who are not WorldVistA members is https://www.sporg.com/pom/registration?cmd=event_info&event_id=67974 and you will need to login to SPORG at http://sporg.com/login.jsp with a SPORG username to complete the registration. There is a separate registration URL for WorldVistA members, who receive a reduced rate. I have e-mailed the URL to members. If you have not received an e-mail from me with the URL for member registration, please contact me at bhaskar at bhaskars dot com ASAP. Please note: you must be registered in advance to enter NIST. Unlike prior VistA Community Meetings, NIST security procedures do not allow for walk in registration at this meeting. Additionally, if you are not a US citizen or US permanent resident, you will need to fill out a special form. Please contact me for the form. As a practical matter, therefore, the deadline for registration if you are a US citizen or permanent resident will be Thursday, January 4, and if you are not, it will be Thursday, December 28, 2006. If you encounter any problems with registration, please do contact me. I look forward to seeing you at the 14th VistA Community Meeting. Meanwhile, best wishes for the holiday season and the new year. Regards -- Bhaskar K.S. Thank you for the info. They do not include vista-office as approved software. It is not listed. In response to my question re: vista I was told that it was being rewritten due to many problems with the old language it was written in - MUMPS. karl hafner Joseph Dal Molin wrote: > Karl, > > The service you are describing is being provided by State or regional > Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO) which are funded by CMS. > > VistA-Office EHR provides full DOQ-IT capability and is open source. Re: [openhealth] Registration for VistA Community Meeting
I just checked out the site and it certainly does *not* come across as an open source project. They call it an "open, standards-based foundation" but you have to be approved to access it, sign agreements, etc. There doesn't appear to be any way to (from the front page) to simply download the code and test drive it. VOE doesn't fit my common understanding of an open source project. Could someone please explain how this critter that barks like a dog and has hair is really a cute and cuddly duck instead? Re: [openhealth] Registration for VistA Community Meeting
Karl, The service you are describing is being provided by State or regional Quality Improvement Organizations (QIO) which are funded by CMS. VistA-Office EHR provides full DOQ-IT capability and is open source. The person you spoke to may not have mentioned it because it is not officially released yet. The VOE project is funded by CMS... you can find out more here: www.vista-office.org Regards, Joseph karl hafner wrote: > > > There is an initiative in NYS where medicare is paying to have someone > come in and evaluate your practice > and then adivse you of what your EMR options are. Re: [openhealth] Registration for VistA Community Meeting
There is an initiative in NYS where medicare is paying to have someone come in and evaluate your practice and then adivse you of what your EMR options are. I was spoken to the other day. I asked if they had any open source software envolved. There answer was no. They would be happy to talk with anyone so that they could be included. The initiative is called DOQ-IT. To be eligible your software must be able to do quality monitoring etc. Is anybody aware of this? It looks like a good opportunity to get your name and programs out there. Karl Hafner Yahoo! [openhealth] Registration for VistA Community Meeting
There are several people who have told one or another of the organizers that they will be at the VistA Community Meeting, but who have not registered. Since food is being provided, and since the rooms need to be configured, we *really* need to know with some reasonable accuracy how many people will be there. Please, if you intend to come but have not yet registered, would you please do so *now* so that we can serve you better? You can go to http://worldvista.org - the registration link is prominently displayed. Thank you very much. Regards -- Bhaskar VistA - a journey, not a destination Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ~--> Yahoo!
