Re: Year long issue installing OpenMeetings on Debian/Ubuntu has received no feedback

2009-12-02 Thread Sebastian Wagner
hi Brian,

thanks for the installation instructions.

There is no need to install:
Red5 => OpenMeetings package already contains Red5 as default Servlet Engine
OpenLaszlo => Is not needed to run the program and to compile it from source
openlaszlo is already bundled in the source distro.
xvfb => OpenOffice 3 already contains a headless package (since 2.4.x), so
you don't need the virtual frame buffer xvfb to run it as a service.

And following is a hint you should take care of:
You should install swftools from source or the a unstable tree. The latest
stable version in the debian-tree is an older version, that one has a bug.
The Bug in SWFTools leads to the problem that the generated SWF-File for the
whiteboard has wrong width/height values and the scrollbars looks like the
document on the whiteboard has endless width/height. When you install
SWFTools 0.9.x the Bug is gone.

thanks,
Sebastian

Re: Year long issue installing OpenMeetings on Debian/Ubuntu has received no feedback

2009-12-02 Thread Sebastian Wagner
hi,

when you hit the button on the install-page and nothing happens / Blank
pages your database auth data is wrong. You could have a look at your
console in ubuntu and you would see a long exception with something in
between like *Could no acquire database connection, tried 3 times ...*
That means ... your database auth data is either wrong or your database does
not allow connections from that host.

About the mail problems, it is very common that people use a wide range of
different Mail Server Setup. What we provide does work in 90%, however there
are some usual errors like:
* Server send invalid HELO message
* server does not accept the tls-param in the mail-config

hope this helps otherwise you can contact any of the developers from the
Jobs and Support page:
http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/wiki/Jobs
... or maybe any network-admin that get your system done.

when you download the latest nightly build, install and run that you will
see that the default option is another one.
The practical side can be also tested on the Demo Portal.

Re: new screen sharing option since r2736

2009-12-02 Thread E.F. K.
I have updated from r2688 to r2736 and changed the screen_viewer
setting from 0 to 4 in Configuration.

Is there suppose to have a different user interface for this new
screen sharing option?

The only difference I have noticed is that at the viewer side, the two
start buttons have been changed to Start Flash and Start Java. There
is no change for the user interface at the moderator side.

RE: Year long issue installing OpenMeetings on Debian/Ubuntu has received no feedback

2009-12-02 Thread Larry Harker
Brian,

Not sure if this is an answer for you or not. But we just installed the
VMware Server image of Ubuntu-Server-9.04 on VMware. This image is available
for download on
http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/wiki/InstallationOpenMeetings.We
actually use the VMware ESXi version that is free, so we had to use the VMWare
converter to convert the image from VMware Server to VMware ESXi. But only
takes about 20 minutes. We installed the VMware image and had openmeetings
running in about 2 hours. The only issue we are having, and I believe it is
an issue in the current release of openmeetings, is we cannot get the email
Invite to work (or any of the other email stuff).

Hope this helps.

OpenMeetings is a very exciting technology. Unfortunately many of us on
Debian/Ubuntu are being plagued by a problem that hasn't received a single
suggested fix in a year. The problem is that when you visit
http://localhost:5080/openmeetings/Install and then click on Step 1 you get a
blank page. My system is Kubuntu Jaunty Jackal on AMD64.

I thoroughly documented the installation steps I performed. The install guide I
created is easier to understand than those on the OpenMeetings website:
http://grey.colorado.edu/mingus/index.php/Install_OpenMeetings_Kubuntu_Jaunty_Jackal

Here I include three other users who are having the same problem as me. None of
them received a reply.

Thanks for the tutorial very helpful. I installed Ubuntu 8.04 (the latest) a
debian based linux.

Nevertheless, I got the same problem (Install not found). After rebooting the
machine, I got an install page, but the step 1 page was empty.

I tried openmeetings, he asked for flashplayer. I got and install, and it began
to load with autoconnect and the progress bar and then it sopped at 30% and
says Net connection : call failed
rtmpt://127.0.0.1:8088/openmeetings/hibernate
The install procedure stops after the step 1 (the page step is blank)

I'm seeing the same thing as several others here with the freezing of step 1
after the install page. Everything else seems correct. Any help here possibly?
At least give me some idea where to look?

I could not find a troubleshooting guide on the OpenMeetings website.

Hello,

thanks for the viewer rtmp of the last nightly build r2736. It works
very fine under openmeetings but when i use openmeetings inside a
course of Moodle it's always the standard viewer (=0) that is used.
Is it possible to modify something for obtain the new viewer when i am

I don't find in the php of the module OpenMeetings of Moodle.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot for an answer.

RE: SMTP connection

2009-12-02 Thread Edward Brookhouse
The packet capture only shows a conversation, but you would need to decode the
packets to understand what was happening in the SMTP conversation.

Open the .cap file up in Ethereal or Wireshark, and you can see the decode.

Problems sending email invitation in om 1.0 r2688

2009-12-02 Thread aougruti
Hello.

I've installed last distribution file (1.0 r2688) and now I can't send
email invitations.

Looking in openmeetings.log I found:

Looking in my email server log I found:

rejected HELO from localhost [127.0.0.1]: syntactically invalid

I just copied the old mail configuration that worked in om 0.9 rc5

Am I doing anything wrong?

Thanks

Re: Error on Document Upload

2009-12-02 Thread Sebastian Wagner
you have some inconsistent versions of ImageMagick and GhostScript.
Its likely that you compiled ImageMagick without the right libraries
so it does not include all Image Types.

Re: File Upload Error

2009-12-02 Thread Sebastian Wagner
you did muss to install some of the open-office packages.
When you install it for running in headless modus, you do not only
need the headless-package, you need _all_. Each document type has its
own package, without it you cannot convert those documents.
