The directory ranking is pretty messed the last days, e.g. just one
Vostu game is listed in the top.

This is not fixed and there is no feedback.

Remember that this is due to a bug introduced by orkut team that
removed a lot of applications that were doing nothing wrong, and it's
13 days with no fix.

It is not a matter of resubmit removed apps, because that's
impossible. Once it's set at desconhecido, you cannot do anything to
set an XML as a valid app again.

What matter more here is the installed users of old applications, and
not new apps.

Orkut team should reflag them as whitelisted, else ALL these
application had lost thousands of users forever because of a bug.

In the long term, having to submit each XML again it's OK.

However, I did nothing and my apps were removed, so it makes more
sense if orkut team restores them manually and runs the reviewer,
because this is urgent.

How long it will take to fix the resubmission? People are losing A LOT
of pageviews ($$$) since Saturday, and each second without the apps
counts.

When I posted previously, the pipeline issue was not fixed, but now

Just received the rejection email. The following error I am always
receiving, but it doesn't seem to be correct, it must be some hidden
parameter that Google AdSense or another Google ad partner may be
injecting in the page:

The issue, Tiago, is the same in many topics: apps are not whitelisted
in the directory.

Go to directory (http://www.orkut.com.br/Main#AppDirectory) 
adicionado recentemente  try to add any app  message: app not
whitelisted.

For God's sake, what is the position of Orkut about this?

It's almost 20 days trying to add apps and nothing.

   orkut. That said, apps with 3-legged OAuth should have full access but

   operations are broken. Please inform:

   1. which operation you tried to execute and what kind of authentication

   consumer secret and user identifying information), even better.

   2. the exact response you got, minus user identifying information.

This is way awkward. Orkut gets a much needed update on app directory,
using the new layout, but when people go to most recent apps, they
just can't install anything!

I agree with René. This is already how inappropriate profile are
handled in orkut itself: the user receives a warning, but he can
choose to see the content anyway.

The 25-applications-per-user limit is there since OpenSocial started
in Orkut, but I am wondering if it's still necessary.

If an user reaches this limits and wants to tryout a new application,
he:

1. Receives the limit warning;
2. Goes to edit page;
3. Chose an application he might not want to use again;
4. Deletes it;
5. Click back button a couple of times;
6. Add the new application.

I think this could be better, and I see a lot of users reaching this
limit and facing this use case, while he probably should be shown to a
list of most used applications, like Facebook.

Is there a chance of a change about this issue?

Just for a test, I added a new empty application as well as a mini
app, and both times the results were:

- The app redirected the user to another page. This may be due to a
malicious script and/or a XSS vulnerability. Please sanitize all user-
generated content, including names, comments, messages, titles and
other fields.

Since the app was completly empty, I kindly ask someone to review the
app approval process.

Actually I would like to know if the previous delay, i.e. 2-3 minutes,
will gonna be back.

What is the expected delay now? If I don't know this, I would be
waiting forever before posting here on the forum again, because it can
a problem with the automated approval again.

The apps listed from studiosol are a great idea and had superb
execution, congratulations. However, these apps do violate the policy,
as I mention on 2).

1) Still trying to understand why you pasted all the text here. It
really says, among other things, that this kind of violation is
punished with directory remotion of the app.

Thinking in the way you put it, the hidden tip is to try forbidden
policies until I get caught, by then I will have a larger userbase
than I would have not doing it. That's why a dramatic measure against
who does it it's often employed by Google AdSense and Google Search.

2) There is no difference in just installed and created its
membership, just different words. The policy says nothing about
wording, it says just that it must reflect a user action (obviously
not an install action):

* Updates must reflect a user action within your app (e.g. adding
an artist, sending a gift to a friend, writing a review, etc.).

IMHO your core feature is based on a not-allowed practice.

You do have a point in interpreting the guidelines the way you are.
The lawyers are Orkut team, and if they did nothing against it, even
if the policy is very clear against it, probably you're good to go.

The problem is that this practice, IMHO, is the SPAM of apps, and it
shows how healthy the directory is. Unhealthy environment is bad for
everybody, it keeps away good developers from trying to succeed in the
platform, new users do not get innovative apps, Orkut doesn't get more
traffic, etc...

Some of the apps from the directory 1st page (portuguese) is using
requestCreateActivity without a single action from the user, just
install:

From 1st page:

#4 - Mosaico de Amigos (JDJaramillo - Mentez)
#5 - Sou Corinthians! (studiosol.com.br)
#6 - Sou Flamengo! (studiosol.com.br)
#7 - Sou São Paulo! (studiosol.com.br)
#12 - Sou Palmeiras (studiosol.com.br)
#16 - Elegante Fontes e Recados (Tarun Agarwal)
#17 - Bolão Placar (Placar - powered by Mentez)
#24 - BuboMe (BuboMe.com)

Some from 2nd page (for example):

#36 - SUPER MARIO WORLD FLASH GAMES ONLINE (www.Micoia.Net)
#48 - BUBBLE SHOOTER GAMES ONLINE (www.Micoia.Net)

This isn't allowed in guidelines: it says that this kind of violation
is punished with directory remotion of the app.

This practice has already caused a lot of harm. Authors never got
punished, and they kept doing this, building an userbase for months,
being in the top list for a lot of time. I bet some people don't even
search for apps any more, because they see these apps in the top list,
think there's nothing new (or at least nothing better than those first
ones) and yet these apps are top ranked helped by a forbidden practice.
