On Thursday 09 November 2006 00:28, you (Martin Vidner) wrote: Well, except that I am afraid that your work is largely obsoleted by list-updates -t package and update -t package in zypper-0.6.0. I had expected the code to move on and I am not surprised. This is why I said if I submit patches as I just assumed that this feature would be implemented before I could submit a patch. I suspect that my upgrade is similar to your update -t package except that it first searches for the newer packages and then updates them... Huh, any updating functions must search for newer packages first. update -t package takes all packages and selects the newest version. What else did you have in mind? To update a single package, just install it (yes, a little bit unintuitive). Or did you mean matching strings of user input by searching? Brain cramp! I don't know why but I interpreted it as: zypper update -t package package [ package ... ] So yes, both my functions are obsoleted by the latest code. BTW for the future I plan to have an upgrade command that would include the advanced semantics that yast2 considers when upgrading the distro. I look forward to testing this... The current sources will eventually appear in Factory but as that is slow to sync sometimes, I am also putting them at http://artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~martin/misc/zypper/ I have just pulled down zypper-0.6.3-2 from factory and using it to update to what I suspect is the Beta2 code. I will let you know if I encounter any issues while using zypper -v upgrade -t package PS. Does the 10.1 version have an Obsoletes: y2pmsh? Ah, you are right, I should not make it a replacement for y2pmsh (at least until it actually is a fully featured replacement). I will remove the obsoletion tags. Thank you. An issue I found with the earlier version was that the abort and ignore actions appear to be inverted. When I get a dependency problem reported from zypper, I would expect the ignore to still install the package (by ignoring the dependency issue). What I find is the ignore skips the offending package and the abort action does what I expected of ignore. Our agreement with Microsoft is focused on our customers, and does not include a patent license or covenant not to sue from Microsoft to Novell (or, for that matter, from Novell to Microsoft). Novell's customers receive a covenant ^ So these guys *hacked* the GPL by making the customer to *sign the deal* with Microsoft instead of them. As customers were NOT consulted when the deal was signed, it was in fact very much Novell that signed the deal. No matter how the Novell tries to get away from this. Quotes from Groklaw¹: 'Get it? Novell doesn't get the promise from Microsoft. Its *end users* do. Ha ha, GPL. Except that the end users are also licensees, according to the GPL license. Licensees who are not allowed to redistribute, Novell and MS told us, without losing the patent promise, speaking of specifics, according to the deal made on their behalf -- without asking them to agree or not -- and on top of the GPL license they already got.' 'And if it is true, as Novell asserts in the FAQ, that Mono doesn't infringe any patents, and there are no specific patents involved, and no threat of litigation was in the air, and their SUSE doesn't have any patent infringement issues with Microsoft, who needs a Patent Cooperation Agreement about absolutely no patents at all? Well, there aren't any patents except if you are not using SLED; then there are. And then the bogeyman will get you. And he throws chairs. Someone would have to go through all packages manually, and that's exactly what happened for the SUSE Linux - openSUSE switch. And that is something derived distros can very well do themselves, too, since Novell does it the same way. That way, it would be easier to make distros based on OpenSuSE, as OpenSuSE is a too general purpose distro for many people. In my opinion, that would increase the popularity of OpenSuSE. Otherwise, other distros may be used instead of OpenSuSE for that purpose. Hm, it seems that most Fedora-derived distros managed to identify and remove all the trademarks themselves ;-) I think you're demanding quite a lot here: Making life easier for derived distros is not core interest of the openSUSE project. As for the OpenOffice.org packages, it's really trivial because the branding is added during the build with a build system switch. You can't distribute the unmodified binary package anyway because of binary compatibility issues. Andreas, I haven't looked into OOo, but its nld subpackage contains the NLD branding. Do you think we could add another subpackage that replaces all branding with white space? Now, according to the KDE, which you find by right clicking on the wallpaper, going to configure desktop, clicking on Display, and clicking on power control, Power Management is disabled, but when I reboot, and it's on, it will shut back down after a period. [opensuse] Help with Evolution
I have a large amount of small emails that are automatically placed into a local folder. The information in these emails is of a standard nature with standard formatting in plane text and I was thinking of importing the data into OpenOffice.calc. Because of the mbox format I can reliably macro edit out the header junk and any extraneous information I run into 2 problems. I cannot readily identify where the local folders files are located. I looked in /home/name/.evolution/mail/local/ however there are only directories that appear empty and some of the directories are old Local Folders in Evolution. I have spent a lot of time trying to locate a specific mailing list for this question and if it cannot be answered I would appreciate someone letting me know about it Scott smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature

Just remove the passphrase from your key. It does not make any sense to encrypt your private key with a passphrase and then store this passphrase somewhere on the disk for a batch process.
