Hi there,

Dave Brill taught this live today (to mark the founding of the BOS!). There's a
link to it on the British Origami Society's Facebook page.

Kind regards

Many moons ago [I think in the BOS magazine] there was a wonderful fold that
make a little book: kami color for the colors and a few white pages. I think
the
book was about an inch high when done. I also think it was Dave Brill fold.

Anyone have the instructions for that? THANKS!

It is still there -- how very cool! It popped into my mind because I want to
make
a little gift for a friend [with appropriate text on the pages] and I vaguely
remembered that there was a book fold from I don't now how long ago [I didn't
see it in his book -- I most likely saw it in a BOS magazine, probably from
the
70s]. I wouldn't have guessed that there was a tutorial video on it, even less
likely is that it would have appeared _just_ when I could use it :o)

Thanks!

What a coincidence your question.
David Brill just taught it today LIVE in his Facebook page for WOD Days. I
think the recording it still there, you can check.
The diagrams are also in his book Brilliant Origami

Does anyone know the source of this design? I've created some
(preliminary) diagrams that I want to share but want to make sure I give
the proper attribution if the creator is known.

I do not know the source, however, many diagrams have been around for over 20
years.
So functional and versatile, I created desktop publishing templates in both
landscape and portrait orientations to share information on my creations.
Visit www.orifun.weebly.com to see one I am sharing again this year.

[Origami] Origami Book Fold -- simple 8-page booklet and an intricate 56-page catalogue/box

2014-12-15 Thread Karen Reeds
Like others who replied to JC Nolan's question, I've been using and
teaching the simple, 1-cut pamphlet for so long that I have no idea where I
first learned it, let alone who created this brilliant model.

For a children's book festival in 2009, I made hand-drawn diagrams for the
booklet and turned them into a fold-and-cut Make Your Own Book 8.5 x 11
inch handout. (I'd be happy to send a PDF.)

When I teach the booklet, I always urge folders to try using it in other
ways, e. g., as a module for building.

2 more riffs on the theme:

Paula Beardell Krieg's Book Arts comment on her (lovely ) diagrams pushes
the date back to a book she saw in the 1960s.

I just spotted this diagram for a much more elaborate book in a box by the
book-arts genius, Ed Hutchins. I haven't tried it (or seen his Book
Dynamics!) but it looks like a lot of fun.

[Origami] Origami Book Fold

2014-12-14 Thread JC Nolan

Hey All,

I was at a local Book Arts show the other day and the program that
they were handing out was so cleaver and simple, with a few folds and
one strategic cut you can create a multi-page book out of a single sheet
of legal-sized paper which when unfolded shows the map of the show on
the other side.

Does anyone know the source of this design? I've created some
(preliminary) diagrams that I want to share but want to make sure I give
the proper attribution if the creator is known.

I posted the rough version of the diagrams at
http://creatingorigami.com/diagrams/bookfold.html

I've seen this in various bookbinding books over the last decade. I used
this fold for the conference program for an International Open Education

JC and the list,
Not sure of the original source, but I recall making and carrying on of these
many years ago, before I had a smart phone.

PocketMod is the great site that I used to make them.
http://www.pocketmod.com/

They have pre-made pages to choose from as you build your book to print. There
are calendars, grids, lists, references, games, and you can upload your own
images too.
