Re: GPX Track line width thin though ‘Configure map – Tracks – Appearance Bold’

2021-01-16 Thread Bart Eisenberg
I agree: having two places to change the appearance of tracks is confusing,
and Configure map – Tracks – Appearance now seems obsolete.

It looks to me like UI is moving toward putting all GPX controls in My
places - Tracks, which is a good thing.. The developers just need to
complete the move.

Re: GPX Track line width thin though ‘Configure map – Tracks – Appearance Bold’

2021-01-13 Thread gery...@gmail.com

Hello Herwig and all,

Thanks for this hint. I had not seen or tried under ‘My Places – Tracks –
Appearance’, but continued to use the old path ‘Configure map – Tracks’
(with quite limited functionality). ‘My Places – Tracks’ is new from rel.
3.8 .

For me, changing line width using the Thin Medium Bold buttons works fine,
no need to use Custom.

It looks like with rel. 3.8 the new ‘My Places – Tracks – Appearance’ was
brought in and the old ‘Configure map – Tracks – Appearance’ forgotten.

The old one is neither turned off nor linked to the new one. It still has
some functionality and effect on tracks, but quite weird (if I copy a new
track to folder files/tracks, then I can still change color with the old
Appearance, but not line width any more).

*This is inconsistent and confusing.* I believe this should be changed. *Any
moderator or similar who can comment on this?* Depending on comment I could
raise an issue in Github for this.

Re: GPX Track line width thin though ‘Configure map – Tracks – Appearance Bold’

2021-01-12 Thread Herwig Dierckx
Hello

I have the same issue. I found a temporary work-around :

   - Look for your track under My Places - Tracks.
   - Below the button "Show on map" , there's a color-palette for
   Appearance.
   - Scrolling down you can select the color and the width, but changing
from Thin to Bold , doesn't have any effect.
   - Only if you select Custom and use the slider underneath, you can
   change the width.

It's quite cumbersome, but otherwise it's indeed not useable on a bike-ride.

Good luck

Hi, depending on what are your needs, maybe you could find useful what is
already in place:
Record some track and save it, then
Open the menu, tap on favourites
Will open a window with 4 tabs, tap on the "Tracks" one
Will open the tracks you have already recorded, maybe you may have to expand
the Rec dir.
Tap in the track you want to inspect, you will see the track in a map preview,
there you could select the split interval, the color of the track and
its visibility on the map, choose a split interval that matches the track, a
color to contrast with what you may already are displaying and make it
visible on the map, tap the back button to display the map with the track
annotated with the split interval.
Alternatively, scroll down in the "Tracks" tab, tap the track you want, scroll
down until you see the "Analize on the map" button and tap it
you should see the screen split in two parts, one of them will contain a
diagram of the track, the other part will contain the map, it is not centered
automatically to the track, so you may have to scroll it to view the track.
Then tap and drag anywhere on the diagram and you will see the corresponding(a
blue dot) position moving on the map.

Hope this helps

Disclaimer, the names could differ, I am translating from the menus I see in
Catalan.

If you connect your android device to a windows PC, you can explore the
file structure in windows explorer
On my tablet, I copy and paste .gpx tracks into the tracks folder

The stock location is here on my tablet
This PC\Galaxy Note 10.1 2\Tablet\Android\data\net.osmand.plus\files\tracks

After I moved the app to my SD card, the tracks folder is here
This PC\Galaxy Note 10.1 2\Card\Android\data\net.osmand.plus\files\tracks

Getting gpx on the phone: Connect to PC, put the gpx in any directory on the

Go back to the phone and its file explorer. Find the file, copy it into the

If you couldn't find it, you didn't look for the correct directory - repeat (1)

"Import in OSMAND". Choose import track, not import POIs (not sure about exact

This will work all the time.

When searching for the "/OsmAnd data folder", make sure you're pointing to
the *current* repository directory.
To discover what the path is, you can simply open the OsmAnd menu and
navigate to *Settings->General settings *section.

Once you're there, just check the *Data Storage folder* entry.

E. g.: on my phone it is set to:
*/storage/9CC3-64BD/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files* (which is on an
external SD card),
so I expect gpx tracks to be located in
*/storage/9CC3-64BD/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/tracks
*directory.

Actually, I don't have any gpx there, only several tracks I recorded with
OsmAnd itself*, *saved to
*/storage/9CC3-64BD/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/tracks/rec *folder
*.*

Cheers,

I think what Luc is asking is how to load a GPX (not a map) so that it's
visible in OsmAnd. Ordinarily, the GPX would go in the osmand/tracks
folder. But, as I read this, I don't think he's seeing the Osmand data
folder. Much less any subfolders.

2017-06-15 Thread Dave Welsh
Step one. If you have not done so you must download some maps of your
country or the areas you want to see on your phone.

Too download maps on MY phone,
On the bottom of the screen with my phone held vertical on the bottom left
touch the 3 bars
When the side menu opens about 1/2 way down you will see Download Maps
 Touch that
This will bring up a list of countries which you may use and you can
download

The easiest way is to put the file "somewhere" on the phone, where you can
find it, find the file in a file explorer and simply click the file to
"run" or "share" it. If everything is set up correctly, one of the
possibilities how to open the file would be Osmand. You then get asked to
choose between importing waypoints or the route (for navigation purposes,
choose the second).
Technically, the route will be moved in the /tracks/imported subfolder, but
this takes the guessing out of it and it finds the correct folder for you.

Hi,

To make sure I explained myself well
Problem is that I cannot find the storage map on my mobile.
According to the info provide by the settings of my app, I should put a GPX
track in SDcard/Android/data/net.osmand/files
When trying to copy/paste a gpx tarck into this location I cannot find it.
I have Osmand 2.6.5 on my mobile/

Thank you for helping me.

Re: GPX track navigation fails to alert when off track

2017-02-12 Thread Toni Tershe
Hi P Wat

No, i experienced a differenet problem, as explained in the opening of
this thread. It just wouldn't alert me when i was off the gpx track. It was
a very weird issue at the time (a year ago) because i have used osmand only
for gpx navigation and have been always impressed.

But that was a one off i guess, because the last time it was perfect, it
did navigated me exactly through the gpx track, which runs through hills in
off roads which are not marked on maps.

Re: GPX track navigation fails to alert when off track

2017-02-03 Thread caci99
Bring back this old thread to post an update.

I haven't used osmand since that day a year ago waiting for some
improvements. But two weeks ago I decided to give it a try, and this time I
was very satisfied with how it worked. I used it on two different tracks.
For one track I was given the gpx file from organizers of MTB race, for the
other I had created the gpx myself. In both cases the navigation and alert
was excellent.

So, just wanted to say that osmand is back in life with this wonderful
feature. I use it only for this purpose, the only app that I know that will
guide you through a gpx track in offline mode.
