and ask if they have details.  The people
listed on the back are no known to me currently but I have only been in Adealide since 1998 so one of the ‘locals’
might know them.  I will hunt around!

WHAT a lovely explanation of how to do a VE (if it is necessary). Our
medical colleagues would benefit from that description. Cheers, MM

I loved Ina May Gaskins approach to doing a VE. Put your fingers in and
then rest gently on the cervix. Don't do.. just wait a moment so that
the cervix doesn't clamp. (if you think about doing a rectal exam you
know that the involuntary action it to clamp, if you wait a moment
before trying to do anything else it helps the involuntary reflex). Then
after waiting/meeting the cervix gently feel.

RE: [ozmidwifery] Risk of uterine rupture + CARES

2005-07-13 Thread Dean & Jo

That sort of comment can be taken to politicians
and the media if desired: that a professional would use blackmail and/or defamatory
comments to sway your choice.  It
adds to Jenny Gambles comments about OB’s defaming midwives and midwifery
and the shit you would get in if you said it about their profession!  You could even write to the college of
OBs to complain although there would be little they would/could do nut the
state and federal health ministers would not be able to ignore it.  Not what you want to do when you’re
pregnant but if you do act it might stop it from happening to someone else.

defamatory?  Just worth thinking about.

Dear Joh,

Who is this Ob working for? Is he keeping your best interests at heart? Is he
breaking his Hippocratic Oath (if he still makes such a thing?) that states he
has "To keep the good of the patient as
the highest priority?"

I think it's time to get another obstetrician, if you need one.

Best of luck with your birth,

Just wondering if anyone knows about a semi-permanent type birth pool
suitable for use in a small birth unit (220 births per year).

There is the opportunity for corporate sponsorship to get this happening so
we sort of need something more than a kids wading pool.

Any ideas?
