However, I cannot think of a better forum to use (as someone coming from a heavy SLES background), so I will ask it anyway. Feel free to shoot me down or point me in a different direction. Hi Ron, I'm not going to comment on RHEL nor pcs/crmsh. But even on SLES, we've made a decision to focus on crmsh + hawk as a web-based GUI. So I'd suggest to investigate that rather than crm_gui. The benefit is that it doesn't require an X server, and works from all systems capable of hosting a web browser. The output suggested it was looking for the IP address given via the given eth. So, I have VIP 192.168.20.150 eth0 with 192.168.20.10 and the send_arp program would say something similar to Looking up 192.168.20.150 from eth0 192.168.20.10 and would successfully update the arp cache for the VIP. That tells me that either I'm using the program completely backwards or it's actually looking a who-is lookup and not a gratuitous announcement. I'm not a network guru though, so I could be off base here. j On Fri, 2009-09-11 at 12:10 +0200, Dejan Muhamedagic wrote: Hi, On Wed, Sep 09, 2009 at 01:55:33PM -0400, j wrote: Thanks for your replies. I found this link (to follow) before but executed the instructions on ALL machines, which was my stupidity... http://kb.linuxvirtualserver.org/wiki/Using_arp_announce/arp_ignore_to_disable_ARP Instead, the instructions should be followed for all machines with a VIP *not* running LVS/director. That solves the problem of the wrong machines replying to who-is requests. The only thing left is to make sure the web servers update their arp cache. So, I can execute SendArp on the web servers via an order constraint to they re-ask for the arp address for the director machine. In testing, I had found that the SendArp tool (contrary to what it says) actually *asks* for the arp address, it doesn't send a gratuitous arp like advertised. It does send an ARP packet. You can take a look at send_arp.c. How did you find out it doesn't? Thanks, Dejan I hope this helps someone. Thank you all so much for your input! I've got ldirector and LVS managed by pacemaker and configured to be able to run on either database machine. I know how to disable ARP for the machine not running ldirector, unfortunately I'm not sure how to dynamically get the webservers to update their ARP cache when ldirector gets moved upon failure. Is it possible to set up a service for the two web servers to delete the ARP cache for the VIP on the event that ldirector gets moved? The IPaddr2 RA runs send_arp when the start action is called I believe: # # Run send_arp to note peers about new mac address # run_send_arp() { ARGS=-i $ARP_INTERVAL_MS -r $ARP_REPEAT -p $SENDARPPIDFILE $NIC $BASEIP auto not_used not_used if [ x$IP_CIP = xyes ] ; then if [ x = x$IF_MAC ] ; then MY_MAC=auto else MY_MAC=`echo ${IF_MAC} | sed -e 's/://'` fi ARGS=-i $ARP_INTERVAL_MS -r $ARP_REPEAT -p $SENDARPPIDFILE $NIC $BASEIP $MY_MAC not_used not_used fi ocf_log info $SENDARP $ARGS case $ARP_BACKGROUND in yes) ($SENDARP $ARGS || ocf_log err Could not send gratuitous arps ) 2 ;; *) $SENDARP $ARGS || ocf_log err Could not send gratuitous arps ;; esac } So when the VIP is started on another node, other nodes should be notified the IP has changed hosts. Doesn't it work for you? I can build my own OCF script to update the arp cache, that's not an issue. I simply don't know how to configure pacemaker to say Oop. db2 died. Move ldirector to db1 and tell the webservers to update their ARP cache. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Hi, I faced a little problem with ipaddr2 and iptables. when you create a CLUSTERIP resources it uese the -I option to Insert in iptables. but aftera iptables -nvL INPUT you can see that the rule is before the main iptables rules. the result is all daemon that work on the CLUSTERIP address are blocked. I change the -I option by a -A (Append) and it works flawessly. Maybe I did a non logical thing, so if it's the case is anyone can explain me ? Re: [Pacemaker] ANNOUNCE: Pacemaker 1.0.4 now available (maintenancerelease)
- Original Message - From: Andrew Beekhof and...@beekhof.net To: The Pacemaker cluster resource manager pacema...@clusterlabs.org Sent: Friday, June 05, 2009 7:56 AM Subject: [Pacemaker] ANNOUNCE: Pacemaker 1.0.4 now available (maintenancerelease) It took a little longer than expected, but the latest 1.0 maintenance release (1.0.4) is finally available. You can read the following in a readable format at: http://theclusterguy.clusterlabs.org/post/118407385/pacemaker-1-0-4-released -- Andrew Apart from a number of important bug fixes, the latest release is the first to include comprehensive man-pages for all CLI tools. These are generated from the source code using help2man (http://www.gnu.org/software/help2man ) and so are guaranteed to be accurate. Unfortunately for RHEL and CentOS users, those distros don't ship help2man and so the man pages are not available on those platforms. However one can obtain the same information using the --help option. Packages for Pacemaker 1.0 and it's immediate dependancies can be downloaded for openSUSE, SLES, Fedora, RHEL, CentOS and Mandriva (Debian users read on) from the usual location: http://software.opensuse.org/download/server:/ha-clustering and the source can be obtained from: http://hg.clusterlabs.org/pacemaker/stable-1.0/archive/Pacemaker-1.0.4.tar.bz2 General installation instructions are available at: http://clusterlabs.org/wiki/Install ### Release Statistics Changesets: 222 Diff: 266 files changed, 12100 insertions(+), 8279 deletions(-) ### Project AdministriviaNext Release Yours truly will be on vacation for the second half of this month, so the next release will be in late July. RHEL-4 Packages The build issues for RHEL-4 have finally been sorted out and binary packages are one again available from the build service. NEW! “Real” Debian Packages By happy co-incidence, courtesy of Martin Loschwitz from LINBIT, the 1.0.4 release sees the arrival of a fully functional, “official”, repository from which to obtain Pacemaker. Martin’s work replaces the sort-of-worked-sort-of-didnt packages from the openSUSE build service which have now been disabled.
