I am also not aware of any crm_gui packages for rhel6 not even

Luckily there are many alternative GUIs, but only 1 or 2 really usable.

In theory you can get crmsh package from here

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/ha-clustering/

In practice too :) Every new version of crmsh is going to be

I don't see HAWK package there, so probably it's still not compatible

Right, hawk is not built. Tim should be able to tell why.

Hi Ron,

I'm not going to comment on RHEL nor pcs/crmsh.

But even on SLES, we've made a decision to focus on crmsh + hawk as a
web-based GUI. So I'd suggest to investigate that rather than crm_gui.
The benefit is that it doesn't require an X server, and works from all
systems capable of hosting a web browser.

./ConfigureMe is a wrapper to invoke GNU 'configure' with options that match
common conventions associated with this machine (i.e. RedHat Linux)

You may also, if you wish, supply additional 'configure' options in
their usual '--xxx=yyy' form.

It will also build, make, install or create packages for the
build environment.

./ConfigureMe does not know how to create packages for every environment,
nor is the information on common conventions necessarily correct.
Patches to this process are solicited -- especially in these areas.

That's why you're missing meatware; that's a stonith agent provided by

You don't need meatware with 1.1.8. Making use of

Hi Rasto,

ok if you say that LCMC is compatble to version 1.1.8
so why is there the button crm shell rather than pcs shell ?
I got bash: /usr/sbin/crm: No such file or directory :o)

also the button commit CIB doesn't appear when I add
group and services thus since I switched from 1.1.7 to 1.1.8,
is the menu session - save makes it ?

That's an experimental remote shell and you are not supposed to use
it. I could do something like that with pcs, but I am still waiting how
the shell wars end.
ok understood. Please guys choose the right shell for mortal common user as

As for adding groups and services, you can add them

How old is your pcs package? According to Fedora Koji only the most
recent

build actually contains pcsd (pcs-0.9.27-1.fc17).

rpm -q pcs
pcs-0.9.3.1-1.fc17.noarch
which repo must I use to get 0.9.27 ?

It looks like updates and updates-testing are both not up-to-date so you
probably have to get this directly from koji:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=13172

Not sure if it's a good idea to rely on pcsd at all though when it isn't
even technically released yet.

 Dennis

installed from old opensuse repo

Its probably just easiest to remove the old set of packages before
installing the new ones.
I don't think the OBS ones followed the fedora naming conventions -
that might be causing problems.

Hi Andrew,

I removed libopenais from all the cluster and
I tried to update on node from 5 in total.
now when I restart the updated node :

service openais start
Starting OpenAIS (corosync): /usr/libexec/lcrso/quorum.lcrso: open
failed:

/usr/libexec/lcrso/quorum.lcrso: undefined symbol:

provide service.
corosync [MAIN ] Corosync built-in features: nss rdma
corosync [MAIN ] Corosync Executive couldn't open configuration component
'openaisserviceenable'
corosync [MAIN ] Corosync Cluster Engine exiting with status -9 at
main.c:1304.

is it because I should shut down and update all the node ?

Don't think so, Steve (from the corosync project) might have more of an
idea.
I think I recall seeing it discussed before, perhaps try searching the
openais mailing list.

___

I didn't know now it needs to run corsync to make openais works...
until now it didn't need it... mmhmm, maybe it's better I stay with the
working version...
too much other work now :(

A few seconds googling turned up:

Try replacing the existing exported symbol in your /etc/init.d/openais
file with:

export
COROSYNC_DEFAULT_CONFIG_IFACE=openaisserviceenableexperimental:corosync_parser

Which was endorsed by Steve as the correct solution.

I found this 2 days ago, but when there isn't
/usr/lib/lcrso/openaisserviceenable.lcrso

despite of install all components so I abandonated. In more,,
change the config file name and structure (openais.conf to corosync.conf)
without explainly inform users is a big mistake from openais...
Anyway I prefer to continue to rebuild my node by hand (as it's impossible
now to find any 1.0.5 pacemaker version on the net)
and I'lll love to keep my time to finish my business plan and give money
to clusterlabs. ;)

yes, I use the main IP of every node, not the network class.

so put off all nodes and openais, removed all cib files (unless cib.xml)

do I need to assign a node id on every node manually ?

Subject: [Pacemaker] Demand for a English pacemaker training in Europe?

hi,

I am thinking about translating my courseware to English and to start the
courses about pacemaker in English for customers in Europe. Before I do that
work I wanted to know if there is a demand for such a course. The courses
would take place in Berlin, Germany. Perhaps in other locations based on the
conditions: wheather, proximity of a beach, ... ;-)

Please mail me if it is worth for me to translate everything to English and
to

organize a course. Thanks.

Hi,

for info if anyone wants to create a dual primary DRBD resource
it should have a notify=true in Master meta instance resource.
Otherwise it will never work.
Done on Fedora 10 updated with 4 nodes (of course with drdb constraint on 2
nodes since DRDB is 2 nodes max)

Maybe linbit guys need to add as default setting..

Ok. I reviewed what was changed and I'm afraid that these changes are
no good. Using PGPASSWORD variable isn't recommended because it's
considered as insecure. Putting DBA password into pacemaker
configuration brings even more security issues. .pgpass file shall be
used instead when password authentication required. See PostgreSQL
documentation.

Then this line:

: ${OCF_RESKEY_psql=/usr/bin/psq}

doesn't make seance since. I don;t think that psql was renamed to psq.

Changing runasowner function to

runasowner() {
   su $OCF_RESKEY_pgdba
   export PGPASSWORD=$OCF_RESKEY_pwd
   su $OCF_RESKEY_pgdba -c $*
}

completely breaks it since first su command starts shell and leaves
user there at the command prompt .

Hi,

I tried running the send_arp program by hand. The output suggested it
was looking for the IP address given via the given eth.

So, I have VIP 192.168.20.150
eth0 with 192.168.20.10

and the send_arp program would say something similar to
Looking up 192.168.20.150 from eth0 192.168.20.10

and would successfully update the arp cache for the VIP.

That tells me that either I'm using the program completely backwards or
it's actually looking a who-is lookup and not a gratuitous announcement.

I'm not a network guru though, so I could be off base here.

I have a VIP on all db servers using IPAddr2. I found this link (to

http://kb.linuxvirtualserver.org/wiki/Using_arp_announce/arp_ignore_to_disable_ARP

Instead, the instructions should be followed for all machines with a
 VIP

 *not* running LVS/director.

That solves the problem of the wrong machines replying to who-is
 requests.

The only thing left is to make sure the web servers update their arp
cache. So, I can execute SendArp on the web servers via an order
constraint to they re-ask for the arp address for the director machine.

In testing, I had found that the SendArp tool (contrary to what it
 says)

actually *asks* for the arp address, it doesn't send a gratuitous arp
 like advertised.

It does send an ARP packet. You can take a look at send_arp.c.
How did you find out it doesn't?

Thanks,

Dejan

I hope this helps someone. Thank you all so much for your input!

I have also this kind of problem months ago,
ARP was not really updating well I don't know why...

I resolved ARP problem only specify in every ipaddr2 RA instance
arp_bg=true.
Also if you compile the last kernel version (2.6.31) with ARP daemon it will
help.

So for my case gratuitous ARP are updated fine on 4 nodes FEDORA 10 64 bits

Good news for Fedora fans...

As of last weekend, Pacemaker is included in the official Rawhide/
Fedora-12 repositories.

Those already using Rawhide can install Pacemaker by simply running:
   yum install pacemaker

Currently it is only built for the OpenAIS stack.
There are a number of changes that need to be made to the Heartbeat
packages before we can turn on support for that too.

If anyone has a chance to test the new packages, I'd be interested to
hear the results.

Hi,

for all people interested in building firewall clusters:

the next version of fwbuilder, a GUI for a LOT of packet filters, will
support

firewall clusters. Amongst others also pacemaker+openais clusters are
supported.

Early tests versions are out and can be downloaded at

Sample setups can be loaded from the file

For whatever reason, you can find the details in the log.

If you ever successfully created it, then the cib is valid:-)
But if you directly use the cib.xml under /var/lib/heartbeat/crm,

I meant your copy which is from there. Never ever
modify /var/lib/heartbeat/crm/cib.xml in place.

it's
not. Because the cib.xml on disk doesn't include status section, which
is not valid against the schema. You may want to use the output of
cibadmin -Q.

BTW, why didn't you use crm_shadow?

Ok thanks for your answer Yan, No I didn't modify
/var/lib/heartbeat/crm/cib.xml.
only copy it with cp in other place on HD and reimport it with
cibadmin -R -o cib -x cib.xml
It was only a test (as it's not specify on docs you can't copy cib.xml with
cp)

I will use crm_shadow.

but aftera iptables -nvL INPUT you can see that the rule is before the main

the result is all daemon that work on the CLUSTERIP address are blocked.
I change the -I option by a -A (Append) and it works flawessly.
Maybe I did a non logical thing, so if it's the case is anyone can explain

(maintenancerelease)

It took a little longer than expected, but the latest 1.0 maintenance
release (1.0.4) is finally available.

You can read the following in a readable format at:
   http://theclusterguy.clusterlabs.org/post/118407385/pacemaker-1-0-4-released

-- Andrew

Apart from a number of important bug fixes, the latest release is the
first to include comprehensive man-pages for all CLI tools. These are
generated from the source code using help2man
(http://www.gnu.org/software/help2man

) and so are guaranteed to be accurate.

Unfortunately for RHEL and CentOS users, those distros don't ship
help2man and so the man pages are not available on those platforms.
However one can obtain the same information using the --help option.

Packages for Pacemaker 1.0 and it's immediate dependancies can be
downloaded for openSUSE, SLES, Fedora, RHEL, CentOS and Mandriva
(Debian users read on) from the usual location:
  http://software.opensuse.org/download/server:/ha-clustering

and the source can be obtained from:
  http://hg.clusterlabs.org/pacemaker/stable-1.0/archive/Pacemaker-1.0.4.tar.bz2

General installation instructions are available at:
  http://clusterlabs.org/wiki/Install

### Release Statistics

### Project AdministriviaNext Release
Yours truly will be on vacation for the second half of this month, so
the next release will be in late July.

 RHEL-4 Packages
The build issues for RHEL-4 have finally been sorted out and binary
packages are one again available from the build service.

 NEW! “Real” Debian Packages
By happy co-incidence, courtesy of Martin Loschwitz from LINBIT, the
1.0.4 release sees the arrival of a fully functional, “official”,
repository from which to obtain Pacemaker.

Martin’s work replaces the sort-of-worked-sort-of-didnt packages from
the openSUSE build service which have now been disabled.

More information is available at:
   http://clusterlabs.org/wiki/Install#Debian

Do you get an error message?

Try:

crm_verify -V -x newcib.xml

and make sure it verifies OK. Then do:

cibadmin -R -o cib -x newcib.xml

After doing that, try:

cibadmin -Q | less

And check to see if it has the new CIB. If that doesn't work, post your
CIB.

what the solution ?

Re-configure with the --disable-fatal-warnings option
Or, change the relevant libxml2 header yourself

I used the --disable option.. anyway
cluster-3.0.1rc1 doesn't compile with pacemaker..
I'm completly lost since 2 weeks I try to build a cluster system
on Fedora 8 and 10 and everytime there is a component that doesn't compile
well.

I don't want to use rpm because of too old

Thanks anyway

cluster3?
you mean corosync right?
I'm not surprised, their APIs are changing every few days at the
moment which makes it impossible to keep up.

yes cluster3... :(
ok, I restart from the beginning again.
I wish to build a GFS2/openais/pacemaker cluster system on Fedora 8 and 10.
Any suggestions ?

Thanks
