Hi there, would it be possible to update broadcom-wl and r8168-kmp-default for
kernel 5.18.15 that just appeared in Tumbleweed?
Thanks a lot!

Hi, pipewire-lang is currently not installable when Packman is set at a higher
priority because PipeWire is now at
version 0.3.45 whereas pipewire-lang from Packman still depends on version
0.3.43.
I imagine that pipewire-lang should probably be removed from Packman.

Thanks for that! So I guess we could leave the current key in place.
Users just need to know the required steps.

I haven't been able to build new images based on openSUSE that include a config
script to import the Packman key because it fails:

:~> rpm --import /etc/zypp/repos.d/repomd.xml.key
error: /etc/zypp/repos.d/repomd.xml.key: key 1 import failed.

The cause of the error is the updated version of rpm in Tumbleweed and Leap:
-
https://1password.community/discussion/123891/rpm-gpg-key-is-not-accepted-by-new-rpm-versions
-

They talk there in those threads about updating the key to remove the critical

needs to be done about the Packman key, even if it means creating a new one.

So I'd suggest filing a bug against 15.3 rpm package.

I very much agree with you that this appears to be an unnecessary problem
caused by rpm. But I suspect that a bug report will lead to a response that
it's working as designed:
https://github.com/rpm-software-management/rpm/commit/f22499a05d0a01e35dd10d7644f8d74391ba4222

*Reject unimplemented critical PGP packets as per RFC-4880*

Bit 7 of the subpacket type is the "critical" bit. If set, it denotes that the
subpacket is one that is critical for the evaluator of the signature to recognize. If a
subpacket is encountered that is marked critical but is unknown to the evaluating
software, the evaluator SHOULD consider the signature to be in error.

So it appears that the evaluating software (rpm) is obeying the spec and
appropriately failing, whereas zypper isn't obeying it by virtue of being less
strict. Especially given the hostility that so many openSUSE graybeards show
toward Packman (and I can't find any other keys that rpm is rejecting in this
way) I don't see openSUSE fixing this unfortunately.

To me the easiest solution seems to be just creating a new key for Packman.
Users will get a prompt, but that will be the end of the problem, and as it is
they're already getting loads of errors about the problematic key as mentioned
in this thread.

It also appears that it's possible to somehow remove the "critical" bit from a specific
location in the key, thus "repairing" it and allowing to keep using the same key.
https://1password.community/discussion/comment/615922/#Comment_615922

Yesterday we published a fixed version of the PGP key that now works with the
newer version of RPM. It's the same key, but we were able to remove the packets
that RPM no longer supports.

I'm running into the same issue trying to build an image with Kiwi and manually
importing the Packman key. I confirm that Zypper/YaST can import the key, but
not the underlying rpm tool. Strangely, this issue actually appeared first when
they updated the RPM version in Leap 15.3:
https://lists.links2linux.de/pipermail/packman/2021-October/016849.html
So Packman needs to somehow unset the "critical" bit from "Bit 7 of the subpacket
type", according to this:
https://github.com/rpm-software-management/rpm/commit/f22499a05d0a01e35dd10d7644f8d74391ba4222
That means nothing to me and it sounds difficult, but something needs to be
done to fix this.

[packman] Error when importing Packman repomd.xml.key

2021-10-19 Diskussionsfäden S.

Hi everyone, an update to this...

I found that this is the cause of the error thanks to the updated version of
rpm in the SLE Updates repo:
-
https://1password.community/discussion/123891/rpm-gpg-key-is-not-accepted-by-new-rpm-versions
-

-
https://itectec.com/unixlinux/yum-in-amazon-linux-2-still-asks-for-gpg-key-even-after-rpm-import-when-adding-kubernetes-repo/

They talk there in those threads about updating the key to remove the critical
bit but keeping the same key, but that's all over my head. As it is, an updated
Leap 15.3 system can not import the Packman key anymore without downgrading rpm
to the initial Leap 15.3 release version.

[packman] [PM] ffmpeg-3.4.2-lp150.2.1.x86_64 (openSUSE_Leap 15.0/x86_64) broken deps

2018-07-27 Diskussionsfäden S.

Hi there, when Leap 15.0 was first released, the `ffmpeg` package was
installable. But now, it is no longer installable, and offers me the following
options:

Problem: ffmpeg-3.4.2-lp150.2.1.x86_64 requires libavdevice57 =
3.4.2-lp150.2.1, but this requirement cannot be provided
not installable providers: libavdevice57-3.4.2-lp150.2.1.x86_64[Leap-15.0_OSS]
Solution 1: Following actions will be done:
do not install libavdevice57-3.4.4-lp150.6.1.x86_64
do not install libavcodec57-3.4.4-lp150.6.1.x86_64
do not install vlc-codecs-3.0.2-lp150.3.1.x86_64
do not install gstreamer-plugins-libav-1.12.5-lp150.3.2.x86_64
Solution 2: do not install ffmpeg-3.4.2-lp150.2.1.x86_64
Solution 3: break ffmpeg-3.4.2-lp150.2.1.x86_64 by ignoring some of its
dependencies

[packman] [PM] Bug in scriptlet vlc 3.0.2-6.3 (openSUSE Tumbleweed/x86_64)

2018-05-28 Diskussionsfäden S.

Hi there,

I'm trying to create an ISO image based on openSUSE Tumbleweed with VLC from
the Packman repo. There seems to be a bug in the scriptlet for
vlc-qt-3.0.2-6.3.x86_64. Here's the output:

DEBUG: system: (1330/1341) Installing: vlc-qt-3.0.2-6.3.x86_64
[done]
DEBUG: system: warning:
/var/cache/kiwi/packages/Packman_Tumbleweed/Essentials/x86_64/vlc-qt-3.0.2-6.3.x86_64.rpm:

DEBUG: system: /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.ixADA1: line 1: /usr/lib64/vlc/vlc-cache-gen:
No such file or directory
DEBUG: system: warning: %post(vlc-qt-3.0.2-6.3.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit
status 127

In total, it is supposed to install the following VLC packages from Packman:
vlc vlc-codecs vlc-noX vlc-qt

I haven't built the image with this Kiwi configuration recently, but it was
working about 3 months ago. Unfortunately I can't build the image now with that
error present.

Thanks a lot for the help,
Sam

Well, the issue continues, and Leap 42.1 Packman users still can't

for vlc in OBS the pkg in PMBS will get into failed state because the

OBS and submit it there. Since vlc is in Factory a simple 'osc bco vlc'
will work. Then chdir into the vlc dir and run 'osc up -u' to avoid a
bug in the current osc.rpm.

Also there are style issues with the SR. Most of the changes should have
an entry in the .changes entry. 'osc vc' within the vlc dir will open an
editor. Mention the change and refer to fixed bugzilla bugs like
'(bsc#123456)'. There are most likely guides about pkg submissions on

[packman] Dumb question: where is my PMBS download repository?

2015-12-01 Diskussionsfäden S.

Hi everyone,

Please excuse the dumb question: I was able to branch an existing PMBS
project, make some modifications, and successfully build it. But where
is my PMBS download repo so I can try out the packages?

Thanks, and apologies!

Hello,

I am using the latest version of Tumbleweed with Packman's version of

[packman] [PM] gstreamer 1.4.5-60.35 (openSUSE Tumbleweed/x86_64) -- causes Firefox video to crash

2015-11-17 Diskussionsfäden S.

Hi there,

I think there might be a problem with Packman's gstreamer + Firefox in
Tumbleweed. Firefox on Tumbleweed is crashing on every single Youtube
video (Flash is not installed) and on other sites with HTML5 video. When
I disable media.gstreamer.enabled in Firefox, it stops crashing and
starts playing the videos (in 360p resolution).

This does not happen in openSUSE Leap + Packman's gstreamer, on the same
laptop.

I'm using Intel graphics on a Haswell laptop. Please let me know if you
need any more information.

Thanks a lot,
Sam

2015-03-18 Diskussionsfäden S.

Hi there,

Since VLC was updated to 2.2, it has lost the ability to play .mp4
videos. I am using a Thinkpad T530 with Intel graphics. I tried all the
different video output modes, and none of them work. I also tried
disabling hardware acceleration, but that did not help either. This
seems to be a common problem:

Dear Sir,

After multiple attempts at installtion, I have found that the PartDesignGui
module is missing from your package. Also, several of the workbenches are
missing thier icons.  Finally, the splash screen states it is version 0.14;
however, the developer states they have not yet released that version. In
short, your package is broken and is providing false data.

As I have never had such an issues with your packages before, and I have been
using them since 2007, I presume the matter to be a simple tech error -- e.g.
someone clicked on the wrong files to package. Please look into this matter
as you are currently the only reliable source for this program -- openSUSE has
stalled at v0.12.5,

Most Sincerly,

Thanks for the tip. The following is how I got it to work:
1. Use update-alternatives --config java to get jre-1.6.0-sun
2. jgnash.sh : Accept license

From this point onwards jgnash launches properly even after reverting back
to jre-1.6.0-openjdk.

2009-10-16 Diskussionsfäden Eric S. Eberhard
Greetings. I was wondering if csoap/libsoap was still an active
product -- is anyone doing anything with it? Is there newer/better
source available anywhere? Thanks, Eric
