Re: Using Nero to copy a CD

2004-11-21 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Brian.

While we're on the subject of cliches, you'll probably know the cliche that
there's more than one way to skin a cat. There's also room for personal
preference. I prefer to have Nero open with the new dialogue because I've
got everything there as soon as the program starts, new ISO, audio, CD copy,
DVD copy, etc, all in a single dialogue without searching through any menus.

Yes, you're quite right that with the latest version of Nero you can hit alt
+ R to open the recorder menu and then arrow down to CD Copy.

However, these notes go someway to explaining what each of the 4 tabs are
made up of in the copy process and that's why there a little lengthy. For
example, in versions of Nero 5.5 and earlier, the jitter correction is not
checked by default and this is something I like to use to make sure I get
the highest quality copy. Also, did you know that ignore read errors is
checked by default? Great for creating those coasters.

Apologies if there's too much information for you here but just hit that
delete key next time when you start getting bored.

There was a thread about a USB FM transmitter. I don't know what kind it was

I also have a question for you. How far away can you get with your wireless

if people want to get it for slightly cheaper, check it out on ebay. I

Re: re need help with mp3 directcut

2004-11-21 Thread Susan Wojtecki
Chris,
Yes, I do have Rob's help files, and they got me up and running with the
program.

Remember what I said about losing my little grey cells? well, after posting
to the list last night i had another play with it and tried the ACM encoder
just for giggles, and of course it worked fine. i won't try to figure out
why the other one doesn't work, but at least I'm not the only one with the
problem. I still haven't gotten the recording function to work ... I tried
to record a stream through my sound card and just got a blank file, but I'm
not as concerned about that since simple MP3 Maker works fine for me. By
the way, for anyone else like myself who has had problems with Total
recorder due to driver conflicts or whatever else,Simple MP3 Maker will
record to wav and encode to MP3 as well as ripping from CD's. You can't
edit with it and I don't think there is any way to append to a recording,
but as a no frills package it is free and works without adding another
driver, just my experience. Anyway, thanks much for your response.

Susan

 Hi Jim,
It sounds like an FM transmitter would do the job.
You already have wireless access to control your computer,
so you only need to move the sound from the computer to wherever you are
 in
 your dwellling.
Using a transmitter, you could transmit the sound from the computer, to
 any
FM receiver, whether it be a stereo system, portable radio, or headphone
 radio.
With a good quality headphone radio, you would be free to move about
 without
wires, the same as your keyboard.

It says that the special installer supports wma, however, even when it's set
to be associated with everything, it will not play wma. Winamp always comes
up. I set winamp to no file associations, but windows meedia came up.
Anyone have any ideas?

OK, how do you set that jitter
correction? Since I slowed my burner
down (It's too fast for my Pentium II
system) I have been burning less
coasters! I have not burned a coaster

Hi Mimi.

The jitter correction checkbox can be found on the read options tab of the
copy CD dialogue. Simply check it to use jitter correction. The burn will
take longer but will be the best quality possible.

Hi,
Kevin, how does jitter affect C D quality?
I don't mean to sound dumb, but the sound sounds O K to me.
Is this more a problem with older burners maybe?
Just trying to learn.

between songs when making a cd. I have changed the option of disk at once

another thing that I need to change or do something so that I can
eliminate the gaps completely?

 Hi, Neronians,
Now this is weird. I've installed Nero 6.6 and when I try to run
startsmart
it says it can't because some files are missing, but gives no clue as to
which ones those are. Yet, I can run burning-rom or express and do just
fine. Is this worth worrying about or might I just as well carry on?

I can add that in the very latest version of Nero the 6.6 or so called
Nero

accesible now then it ever was before. Any way thanks for the
information.
I believe many can use it.

RE: Audio Feast Users?

2004-11-21 Thread Geoff Stephens
I can only answer your question about whether you have to use the IRiver
software or just the drivers. If you're using Windows XP you can just use
the driver installed when you connect the IRiver to the USB port. This was
my experience with the IHP-120.

Are any of you using Audio Feast software and to sync it to your
Iriver mp3 player? If so which Iriver mp3 portable player model
number are you using it with Audio Feast?

Audio Feast web site is:
http://www.audiofeast.com

Finally do you have to use the Iriver software when the Iriver
is connected to your pc's usb port? Or just the device driver
will do it?

HI Wan,
I guess the only thing you could do is to pause the music at the very end of
the song, then about a split second before the next song start recording.
Its called tightening up cd's. Dave Hutchins

Help with OTSDJ and WMP10

2004-11-21 Thread Jardata_Mail_Services
Dear List!

About Windows Media Player 9/10 Series:

Recently I installed Windows Media Player 10 on my system. Every station or
streamer who use this program to play their streams seem to work; however, one
particular station (www.daytonjazz.com) will not play for some reason. I
cannot understand why it is not playing. I click on the link, go to the
listen live link and press enter, but I only get a clicking sound and no
music. Now, on the otherhand, I can move down the page a few links, click on
an interview with a certain artist this station made and plays in WMP10, and
the stream or link plays. The live link is the only one that does not play.
What could possibly be the trouble. I had the same problem with WMP9 series.
I get the same problem on my work system (Windows 2000) and both profiles on my
system (Windows XP Professional/Service Pack 2). It's iritating and, if
someone can answer, this question, please do.

OTSDJ:

Well, I reinstalled OTSDJ recently and made the necessary updates and clicked
on the program (OTSDJ), but there is a static sound that I cannot get rid of.
Previously, I went to the Graphics Equalizer window and changed the slider and
I got a clean unstatic sound, but now I cannot get rid of it. I think the
gtrouble is in the Tools Menu (Graphics Equalizer and Dynamics Processor), but
nothing works. If anyone knows which area to do this in, do let me know. The
sound is like a scratched record. I know you can get rid of it because I did
before, but something has changed and I can't figure it out now. I hope to
hear from someone soon on this matter.

Sincerely,

James Robinson

2004-11-21 Thread Tom Kaufman
It's only a guess. But my guess is that there may be something wrong on the
station's end..beings as how you're getting the same results on another
computer; if the station has a contact link (and it probably does) I would
suggest that you might want to get in toouch with either the web master..or
maybe a station engineer; it may be that they're having a problem
streamming..and are unaware of it.

Hello there,
I'm curious about something.
I sometimes have heard things like radio broadcast archives or other things
of that nature using Real Player, but sometimes I need to use Windows Media
Player. What I wonder is how one can move forward little bits at a time
with WMP. I find it hard to skip forward past a section I've heard or want
to fast forward. I know Control F will move you an entire track at a time,
but I just want a little bit at a time.
