  Hello there,
  I'm curious about something.
I sometimes have heard things like radio broadcast archives or other
  things
of that nature using Real Player, but sometimes I need to use Windows

Player. What I wonder is how one can move forward little bits at a time

  want

Subject: Help with OTSDJ and WMP10

Dear List!
About Windows Media Player 9/10 Series:
Recently I installed Windows Media Player 10 on my system. Every station or
streamer who use this program to play their streams seem to work; however,
one particular station (www.daytonjazz.com) will not play for some reason.
I cannot understand why it is not playing. I click on the link, go to the
listen live link and press enter, but I only get a clicking sound and no
music. Now, on the otherhand, I can move down the page a few links, click
on an interview with a certain artist this station made and plays in WMP10,
and the stream or link plays. The live link is the only one that does not
play. What could possibly be the trouble. I had the same problem with WMP9
series. I get the same problem on my work system (Windows 2000) and both
profiles on my system (Windows XP Professional/Service Pack 2). It's
iritating and, if someone can answer, this question, please do.

OTSDJ:
Well, I reinstalled OTSDJ recently and made the necessary updates and
clicked on the program (OTSDJ), but there is a static sound that I cannot
get rid of. Previously, I went to the Graphics Equalizer window and changed
the slider and I got a clean unstatic sound, but now I cannot get rid of it.
I think the gtrouble is in the Tools Menu (Graphics Equalizer and Dynamics
Processor), but nothing works. If anyone knows which area to do this in, do
let me know. The sound is like a scratched record. I know you can get rid
of it because I did before, but something has changed and I can't figure it
out now. I hope to hear from someone soon on this matter.

Sincerely,
James Robinson

Hi Jay.

I thought I'd seen somewhere that you needed specific drivers to use
startsmart but that they are available if you're using XP. I've just tried
it and it worked ok. However, I wouldn't choose to use startsmart. The
Nero burning ROM interface is a lot quicker and easier to use.

Re: Using Nero to copy a CD

2004-11-22 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi.

From the Nero help system. By the way, if anyone wants the help file, drop
me a mail off list and I'll send it to you.

My burned audio CDs sound strangely distorted or contain crackling noise.
What can be done?

Most likely you have trouble with the so-called Audio Jitter effect.
These problems are cause by hardware failures to read audio data correctly.
There are the basically the following solutions:

1. reduce the read speed (possibly to 1x) or
2. turn on Nero`s jitter correction or if nothing else helps
3. use different hardware to read audio. There are huge differences
concerning audio reading capabilities of CD ROM drives. Here it is advisable
to purchase only high quality hardware of considerable manufacturers.

Please refer also to Checking the audio features of your CD-ROM drive and
CD ROM-Read speed settings

 Hi,

I don't mean to sound dumb, but the sound sounds O K to me.
Is this more a problem with older burners maybe?

  Hi Mimi.

The jitter correction checkbox can be found on the read options tab of
the
copy CD dialogue. Simply check it to use jitter correction. The burn
 will
take longer but will be the best quality possible.

Hi Jay.
I thought I'd seen somewhere that you needed specific drivers to use
startsmart but that they are available if you're using XP. I've just
tried
it and it worked ok. However, I wouldn't choose to use startsmart. The
Nero burning ROM interface is a lot quicker and easier to use.

 Hi, Neronians,
Now this is weird. I've installed Nero 6.6 and when I try to run
startsmart
it says it can't because some files are missing, but gives no clue as
to
which ones those are. Yet, I can run burning-rom or express and do
 just
fine. Is this worth worrying about or might I just as well carry on?

Re: Re[2]: Fw: Does anyone know of an aftermarket tutorial, for Total Recorder?

2004-11-22 Thread Mac Norins
DJC,
I find the instructions for using Total Recorder a little difficult to
understand. I admit that I am a novice, at using it, but, I have had some
experience with it. Since you have not looked at their on line help, all I
can say is that it skips around and does not get to the point, which is to
tell someone how to use the program to record streams, off the net, to
record records, from a turntable to the hard drive, to record cassettes to
the hard drive, etc.. I am in the process of reading the full blown
tutorial and, when I digest that, maybe I will have a better idea of what is
going on. I have been blind for only about 4 years, so I am a little
frustrated by some of the ways in which these instructions are written,
because they don't often get to the point, nor do they set things out in an
order that helps me to visualize what is going on. Perhaps you have been
using Total Recorder for awhile, but I have not. I am not, by any means,
whining here; just looking for a way to get to the nuts and bolts of the
program, which, if you listen to the on line help, or the tutorial help, is
not gotten to, for quite a ways into it. I am not trying to say that the
Main Menu description is not good, either, but it is not very good.
Patience being the virtue that it is, leads me to believe that someone out
here has the answer; is it you?

Thanks,
Mac Norins

If you tab around in wmp 10, eventually you come to a fast forward button,
right after the seek button. Activate it by pressing the space bar. I
think that it has three speeds before returning you to the play

seemed to in other versions. I never used it because of that, so I forgot

Hi Mac,
I'll be perfectly honest, that tutorial was very painful to listen to.
it was long-winded, and really didn't give anymore imformation, than a user
could have discovered on their own.
Frankly I 'm disappointed that ACB Radio would air a tutorial of such poor
quality, and content.
The gesture was nice, but if people are going to make audio tutorials,
they should possess a good understanding of the material, and have a
structure for presentation.
Just recently, a gentleman on this list named Rob, made some tutorials for
mp3direct cut, and they were nicely done.

2004-11-22 Thread Mac Norins
Richard,
I think it's time to stop this thread, in its tracks, because I don't want
to lay anything on anyone's reputation and, although I agree with you
wholeheartedly, on the subject of that Main Menu segment, I don't want to
cast aspersions on the gentleman who made it; he was just trying to help and
this conversation is not helping matters. I just wish I could get to the
crux of the matter and get some coherent instructional material on Total

for more tips!
