RE: Monitoring Recording through External Sound Card

2004-12-28 Thread Jerry Berrier
Yeah, one of my USB cards does have an earphone jack, but I don't hear
anything through it when I'm recording via line-in.

Jerry! Doesn't your USB audio device or pre-amp have a headphone jack?
I have two USB audio devices. The Windows Volume Control for both of them
is pretty limited. Most of the controls are hardware pots and sliders on
the units themselves.

Re: MP3 joiner

2004-12-28 Thread Gary Wood
Hi Kevin. You might want to consider raising the sample rate to 22.5 or 44
kHz and a bit rate of 64 kbps or for saving more space 32 kbps. I hope this
helps.

Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?

2004-12-28 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi,
I would suppose that plugging it into the headphone jack would
turn off the speakers, if plugging headphones in does, so your best bet
would be a simple y connector, of which others have written. I love the
unit and use it every day. I have xm radio in my computer, so I transmit
that, I play all my music that way now, making the cd's as obsolete as they
themselves made the turntable.

Rusty
Rusty,
Thanks for the info.
What happens if you plug it into the headphone jack of the speakers? Does it
act like if you put in a headphone in there? I mean do the speakers
themselves stop producing sound?
Thanks,
Shannon

Rusty,
Thanks for the info.
What happens if you plug it into the headphone jack of the speakers? Does it
act like if you put in a headphone in there? I mean do the speakers
themselves stop producing sound?

Re: MP3 joiner

2004-12-28 Thread Robert Stokes
if i remember correctly it won't do variable. check the read me file i
think<
I purchased the programme some months ago. When I tried joining some MP3
files I got a message telling me the task had been performed successfully
but I found the new file that had been created was empty. I then tried
joining the same files using Soundforge and got a message pointing out that
the files were of various bit rates and if I proceeded the speed would vary.
I wrote to the produceer of MP3 Joiner explaining what had happened and
suggesting the warning message be incorporated into the programme and a
short time later was informed that it had been done and an update was
available for download.

I must say I really like the programme. I've only used it to Join MP3 files
but it does the job very well.

Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?

2004-12-28 Thread russell Bourgoin
Hi,
The screw boosts the output power. You may not need to tinker
with it if the unit works well enough for your needs. I like to go out
side with a radio on the nice sunny summer days, so I cranked it up.

Thank you Lois, Gary, Paul and Tom,
I was hoping that a Y type splitter would work. I am going to call them
today and see what my chances are of getting one of the stereo models ASAP.
I thank you all. I only I had had the time to ask all these questions before
Santa came. I could have passed this on to the elves. Smile!
When I do get my little paws on one of these I'll probably ask the question
that started this. What ever is the power screw for? I saw that there was an
answer as how to find it and how to access it with a tiny screw driver but,
Why do you want to?
I'll need to know that answer when I get my new toy!
I appreciate all the help.
Have a Happy New Year!!

Hi,
The c crane transmitter is available for $69, I believe, and you
can reach them at:
800-522-8863. Their unit is easy to use and covers my entire house. You
can also use it in an automobile to hear books or music through the car
radio. It works with anything that has an earphone jack. I like mine so
much I bought a spare.

Hello,
I know that this has also been asked and answered before, but where can you
get this item?
some one posted that they had attempted to buy a unit like this and received
one that only transmitted 15 feet. I looked at my local radio shack and he
says that what he has was designed for a car and will only transmit 15 feet
also. I am not sure what brand that the radio shack guy was talking about I
am not sure that this guy was the one with any answers. He said that what he
had would not work on a home computer anyway.
Santa, grin, was going to put one of these under the tree for me, but since
the info didn't sound as if it would work he didn't do it.
Can any one help me find this doo-dad?
Thanks again. I hope all had a nice holiday week end.

You could search an online music store such as amazon.com or
streets-online.co.uk for the artist/album and work it out from there. Not
ideal but easily achievable.

Re: Playing real audio content

2004-12-28 Thread Brian Olesen
Hi,
it gives you the option of having many mixer configurations that you quickly
can switch between.
For example you have one where you have good microphone settings and another
for recording from line in and so on.
It's a nice and easy to use tool.

Best regards
Brian

Hi.
If you have uninstalled Real Alternative, and don't have Real
Player, you cannot play real content. You need either to reinstall Real
Alternative and the Tara plug-in, or to install Real Player.
If you install Real Alternative/Tara, I'd suggest getting a program
like Quickmix
http://www.jfwlite.com/QuickMixIn.EXE
and seeing why your volume is being reduced or muted, and which
program is reducing or muting it.

I tried this on winamp4the blind with no results. Perhaps someone here
can
help me.
I have the latest winamp installed on my win xp system with jfw 5.10.
I had Real Alternative also, but when a real audio stream came up,
The thing hijacked my volume control, turning my waveout right off.
So, I uninstalled Real Alternative. My problem is that I can't play any
real audio content.
The Real Alternative player is called "media player classic", I think.
I can't use the tara plug-in, so I'm told.
What can I do to get ra, rj, ram, etc files to play??

But can I change it? You see, I have a big audio folder [d:\hear]. Btw, my

Greetings!

I got a Panasonic rxD29 CD radio cassette recorder for Christmas and I'm
thinking of reviewing it for this list, would anyone be interested?

What's so special about this boom-box? Well, it plays MP3 and WMA files on
either CD-ROM or CD-RW CD'S and does this job very well with a choice of
decoder software, various surround-sound modes etc.

To my knowledge, this portable is the first of its kind made by a leading
consumer electronics manufacturer to be marketed in Australia, and as far as
I'm aware, other manufacturers like Sony etc are not marketing any such
device
with so many detailed features etc. Teac have a CD radio which will do the
job
at half the price but... well... you get what you pay for and the Teac is a
toy compared to the Panasonic beauty.

Its odd really as you see plenty of CD walkmans and CD micro/mini systems
which
play MP3 but not too many boom-boxes which do it.

Anyway if their is enough interest? then I'll draft my impressions.

Its interesting to note that these things can be a bit hard to track down,
all
the places that my Father visited before Christmas had run out of stock.
