 Hi tyler,

I've done this a few times but I'm no expert by any means; but here's how
 I
 did it.

go to where you have your music files, then select the first song you want
then go into the file menu and arrow down until it says add to playlist.
when the dialog box opens tab over to the new button and activate it and
name the playlist then hit ok. Once you've done that tab to the ok button
 in
the playlist dialog box to add the selected track to it. From this point
select the next piece and add it to the corresponding list until you've
 got
them ready to burn or whatever it is you want to do with it. Hope this
 helps
and I hope I explained all that right.

replay problems

2006-03-07 Thread Slaton, Ray
Hi folks,
I am still having problems with replay AV.
It only plays for 3 seconds. And when I go to the play tab, even though
I have scheduled one recording, there are two or three files of the
same length.
I keep hearing jaws saying retry reconnect, retry reconnect.
After the capturing is done.
So it is simply not connecting and recording for some reason.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Are there any high quality belt worn MP3 players out that actually have buttons

however, when one plays another file, the previous place marker is gone.

RE: Accessible MP3 players.

2006-03-07 Thread Milton M. Ota
I have found the Creative Zen Nano 1 GB flash memmory to be fairly
accessible. Other than for getting into the menu for other options if you
only want to play MP3, Audible books, WMA and WMA/DRM (digital rights
management) this unit hold a place marker in the file you are listening too.

This unit has an FM radio and you have to get into the menu to get to the
radio--and I haven't found an easy way to do that.

Sound quality is great!

Found mine at Walmart.

Paid $149.95.

Hi Folks:

Are there any high quality belt worn MP3 players out that actually have
buttons for each function. Can they leave marks in a file so that one can
return to the place where one left off? To a certain extent, the IRiver can
do that; however, when one plays another file, the previous place marker is
gone.

Thanks all over the place gang.

RE: Copying A Cd To Hard Drive Via Easy Cd Creator-5x?

2006-03-07 Thread Ford Blackwell
Fazil,

Yes you can rip a disk to your hard drive using Easy CD Creater 5.
1. Put Start Easy CD Creater 5. Put the disk you want to copy to your
hard drive in your cdrom drive. You may want to hold down the sift key
to keep the autoplay from starting to play the disk.

2. First go to the File Menu and selct adio or music project from the
new project menu. Once the disk comes up with the tracks on your disk,
select them with a control+a for all or just the tracks you want.

3. Go to the Track Menu (alt+t). Hit the letter f or arrow down to
convert audio file and hit enter. This will place you into a multitab
control where you can give the file a name, select the form or format of
the file to be created and the folder into which you can send the files.

4. Tab to the convert or save button and hit it. It will hum for a
little while and when it stops, you're done. 5. Make sure you have the
CD/DB control in, I think, the Tools Menu checked if you want the
program to locate the names of the disk tracks for you automatically.

Good luck.

Hello Gary,

On Tuesday, March 7, 2006, 11:38:35 AM, you bellowed the following:
How does one hear what is coming through a USB soundcard? Must you plug in
another set of speakers into the soundcard?

Either that, or you could be cheap and patch a USB soundcard into the
line in of a sound card that already has speakers on it's output,
assuming you have a line in available (usually not the case with
laptops).
Also, many multimedia speaker sets have two inputs on them for just this
purpose.

Easy Cd Creater! Disk Copier is for copying from a disk to a disk.

There are some good tutorials on using Easy CD Creater at

JFWlite.

Good luck.

I still love my Easy CD creater versions 4, 5 and 6. It's too bad that
they ruined the accessibility in 7 and higher.

Re: USB Sound Card question

2006-03-07 Thread Gary Schindler
thank you gentleman for your input. the next question is, why the need of a
USB soundcard? is this for the express purpose of creating pristine audio?

One could probably patch the digital out in if the line jack is already
used. I think most onboard cards now even have some sort of digital in.

 Hello Gary,

On Tuesday, March 7, 2006, 11:38:35 AM, you bellowed the following:
How does one hear what is coming through a USB soundcard? Must you plug
 in
another set of speakers into the soundcard?

Either that, or you could be cheap and patch a USB soundcard into the
line in of a sound card that already has speakers on it's output,
assuming you have a line in available (usually not the case with
 laptops).
Also, many multimedia speaker sets have two inputs on them for just this
 purpose.

Yes you can get a 30 day evaluation of it. Then you have to buy it to keep
 using it.

A better question is the current version now accessible?

RE: another skype question

2006-03-07 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Joe, the most reliable way to do this at present is by using the Skylook
plug-in for MS Outlook from http://www.skylook.biz. You may also try a
programme called Powergramo, but a couple of us have lost important
recordings with this app. It does have the advantage of being able to record
directly in wave though. No second sound card needed in either case, and no
special software driver that could screw things up.

RE: another skype question

2006-03-07 Thread David Truong
HI,

I concur with Jonathan's recommendation of Skylook . Skylook is fantastic
and the recordings are very clear and are in MP3 format so you should be
able to play them without having to install a specialised media player. As
Jonathan mentioned, you don't need a second sound card or anything. Skylook
records straight from the Skype audio stream. The Skylook plugin also comes
with a Skype answering machine built-in. I used the Skylook plugin the
other day to record a conference call. Skylook is sure handy to record
meetings as well as interviews etc.

Re: replay problems

2006-03-07 Thread Chris Skarstad
Ray
Is this happening on *every single* stream you atempt to record, or
just one and you haven't tried any others? What I'm thinking is
there may be a problem with the particular stream. Try a couple of
others by going to the guide and scheduling a show to record, and let
us know what happens.
As I mentioned before, or maybe I didn't, I had tried to set replay
up so that it would record seggments of a longer file, btut somewhere
along the line, it only recorded 13 seconds of a file and then
created more and more. at some point I had over 600 files in a
folder, oops! Oh well, you live and learn. Another thought is,
perhaps you are atempting to capture a stream that is too fast for
your connection to handle. If you're on dial-up, and you're trying to
capture a stream that is broadband, then logic suggests that you
would not have enough outgoing bandwidth to listen to, or capture the
stream, which would mean that you wouldn't be able to record it. Let
us know how you get on with this.

At 08:05 AM 3/7/2006, you wrote:
Hi folks,
I am still having problems with replay AV.
Thanks.

The Skylook plugin also
 comes
with a Skype answering machine built-in. I used the Skylook plugin the
other day to record a conference call. Skylook is sure handy to record
meetings as well as interviews etc.

Hi Joe, the most reliable way to do this at present is by using the
 Skylook
plug-in for MS Outlook from http://www.skylook.biz. You may also try a
programme called Powergramo, but a couple of us have lost important
recordings with this app. It does have the advantage of being able to
 record
directly in wave though. No second sound card needed in either case, and
 no
special software driver that could screw things up.

replay observations

2006-03-07 Thread blsmass
Well, when not busy working I have been playing with the Replay-AV. Here
is what I have noticed. Your streams will not only capture as MP3 even
if you request that. Some of them are in RM anyway, even if some are in
MP3. Many well-known commercial shows (when radio was is an example)
cannot be scheduled. Also, it seems, and more testing is necessary
because I don't know how to do this, that some streams are banned at
certain times during such commercial shows. I tried to get When radio
was last night and got a local feed for the weather instead. Since I
still don't quite understand how to set up a show given radio station
information you have entered, that is how to schedule a show on your own
I don't know. I wanted to schedule KSL from 10 PM pacific to 11 PM
pacific to get when radio was, but can't figure out how to do it. If I
can figure how to make my own schedules, and I locked up my machine this
morning trying to get a link to KSL, I can try that and set up my own
schedule. One entry which was supposed to be Monday night playhouse was
actually a jazz program on CBC. I have difficulty filling out the forms
because you have to remember what goes in each field of some of the
survey information and that is with Jaws 7. I like the program a lot,
and if I can figure out some of these things so I can schedule my own
captures better I will like that too? Am I paranoid or do they actually
only serve a certain number of airings of a particular show and do they
ban the rest or just don't list? Those are my observations, possibly
most out of ignorance but interesting points whatever the answer. Hope I
haven''t covered ground already covered. I listened to Jonathan's
review, and if you want to start out with a tutorial I would gladly pay
for, that would be a good one. Also, and off topic I know is that I
don't know where to hear the Mosen explosion live and somehow missed the
fact that it even existed till I heard his podcast. Sorry about this
being so long. Feel free to correct any really stupid mistakes I have
made here. Kurt

Hi, Doc. Yes, Rhapsody only uses wma format. However, you can play
the files in RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, or Rhapsody
itself. I'd pay good money if they'd fix Winamp so it could play
protected files. I'd buy the pro version then.

Hi, Tim. I too use the library with some quirky scripts I made, but
I wouldn't want to attempt explaining it. Most people would say that
the library isn't accessible with how Jaws behaves in the library,
and my scripts wouldn't be fit for anyone else to use. Window Eyes
actually handles the library much better out of the box. I have
tried it, and it is the better choice for this application.

reply AV questions

2006-03-07 Thread Allison Mervis
Hi all!
I just finished listening to Jonathan's fabulous demonstration of the Replay AV
software, and I am eager to purchase it. However, I have a few basic questions.
Firstly, am I correct in assuming that one can set different shows to record at
different bitrates? For example, would it be possible for me to record a music
show at 128 KBPS and a talk show at 64? Secondly, if I wanted to record two
different programs on one of the BBC channels, would I be able to schedule that
particular stream to begin recording at two different times? Thank you in

Re: replay observations

2006-03-07 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Kurt
Some stations that stream their audio on the net do not stream the
exact same things due to copyright restrictions. In other words, you
could hear When Radio Was on your AM station, but the internet stream
could have something completely different, because the station may
have obtained the rights to play the show on the station, but not to
stream it over the internet. Is what I'm saying making any kind of sense?
Setting up your own schedule is quite easy, as long as you remember
the address of the station, the start and end times of the show you
want to record, and you can decide in which audio format you want the
recording to be in. There is plenty of Old Time Radio programming
available in the Replay AV guide, so if you're into that, search
around and give some of the shows a try.

Once you've done it a few times it gets easier. Don't give up on it yet.
