Creative Labs Sound Cards
Hello friends, I hope that you all had a good weekend. I picked up a Creative Labs Audidgy card at the weekend and was just wondering if anyone can help me out with a few questions please? As far as I can tell, it is an Audigy 1 card, does MS-Windows XP SP2 have a driver for it? I was just wondering what the connectors are on the back. I noticed that there is a digital out connector, would I be able to use this to connect up my digital speakers which have a TOSLINK connector on them? Many thanks in anticipation for any help, Steve. - The information in this e-mail and any attachments is confidential and is intended for the attention and use of the named addressee(s). No, this isn't possible because Windows treats the USB microphone as a separate sound card from your regular sound card. You'll need to use a microphone that is not USB, and then you will need a second sound card or external speech for your screen reader. However, the soon to be released StationPlaylist 4.0, and Ots DJ which is already out there, will allow you to do this with only one sound card. Should be able to without a problem. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Fazil M. Sent: Sunday, March 26, 2006 7:29 PM To: PC audio discussion list. Subject: Re: Burning Audio cd in Roxio5.30? Correction/Addition. In my original message, I said that I was unable to play the cd in Cd-Da-Extractor, I was wrong. Hi. I got a question about burning an audio-cd by using Roxio5.30. I tried to burn an audio cd. I successfully added all the tracks to the cd-project and I was ready to burn the cd. When I got the recording dialog, I was on the Start-button, I thought well, let me check out all the available options before activating the Start-Button. I came to a set of 4-radio buttons regarding the finalization of the cession and the cd, instead of selecting the default radio-button, I checked the radio-button which said something like finalize the cd and the cession, and hit Start-button. My cd was burn successfully. I was able to play all the 6 tracks it in Winamp as well as in Windows Media Player, however, I could not play this cd in Cd DA Extractor6x, where I always play all the audio cds. I am not sure whether this cd would play in the car-cd-player or in the home stereo as I have access to none of those. I personal feel that the cd did not play in cd-da Extractor6 because I did not select the appropriate radio-button when selecting those radio-buttons regarding the finalization of the cession and the cd, what do you think? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks! Regards, Fazil. === Thanks! ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU DO ALL DAY! Re: playing music and talking over it with a u s b mike
How can Ots let you talk over music and not get the speech on the air if the what you hear has to be used to do mixing like this? Or will these programs let you use the USB mic to plug into the windows mixer. I doubt the API exists to make a USB mic that just adds itself to the main volume control to be output into the primary card as mics don't play anything back anyways. - Original Message - From: Jonathan Mosen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'PC audio discussion list. You'll need to use a microphone that is not USB, and then you will need a second sound card or external speech for your screen reader. However, the soon to be released StationPlaylist 4.0, and Ots DJ which is already out there, will allow you to do this with only one sound card. RE: sigmatel audio help sought
Larry, I can't understand why you feel that adding a pci audio card to your system will void your warrantee. This is a very common thing to do. Disabling your on board audio from within your computers bios does not void any warrantee that I have heard of, nor does adding a pci card of any kind including audio. That is what the pci slots are there for. People do this all the time. --Best regards, --Rick Alfaro [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Larry Naessens Sent: Saturday, March 25, 2006 3:04 PM To: PC audio discussion list. Subject: Re: sigmatel audio help sought Richard, the PC's sound chip is disabled now, as you suggested. However, as that was the only source for providing sound on the computer, I had to add a new card. And, since adding a PCI card would have voided my warranty, I chose to add a USB card. I chose one from Turtle Beach which is giving me no problems at present. Thanks for your input. Larry At 09:44 PM 3/23/2006, you wrote: Larry, why would you have to remove the chip? If you want to do line in recordings from cassette or turntable, be careful when choosing a USB sound source as the features do indeed vary. My first choice was the M-Audio card, one that is designed with a guitar input. It is a fine USB device. The problem is that the line in jack is mono. I've seen another USB card that offered no line in. My situation is that I want to improve on the intel sound chip that came with my new computer, but it's manufacturer, MDG here in Canada, surprised me with a sticker that warns me not to remove it or I'll void the warranty. So I have to either pay an extra $90 to have them install any new PCI card that I might choose, void my warranty by breaking the sticker's seal or go with a USB card. I'm trying a Turtle Beach card next, and we'll see. Larry - Original Message - From: Jerry Richer [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. soundmax card mutes but does not actually mute
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi. I have two sound cards in this machine. One is an integrated SoundMax card which is part of my Asus main board. The second is a Sound Blaster Audigy. I use the Soundmax for the windows sounds, speech, etc while the Audigy is used for playing music and games. The problem I'm having is about twice a week the soundmax card will seem to go into a muted state. I can still hear the sounds and speech but have to turn the volume way up and even then it's barely heard. Only rebooting solves the problem. I check the volume controls with sndvol32 and all the sliders are set right, nothing have muted or moved from the setting I use. Rebooting helps but I still do not know what causes the problem.
