Re: Mlb radio error message

2006-04-07 Thread Scott Meyer
Hi Kevin and all
well things are not as easy to fix as you think. This is what I had to
do, after talking to MLB Technical support, you need Windows Media player 10
and also macromedia Flash player 8 on your computer. No where is this mention
on their web site. This did not solve the problem, on a gut feeling I went
to manage ad on, just to see if the flash player was enable and it was
not.Must have turned it off because it was causing a problem with a web site
I needed to use.
Thanks for the help and hope this will help someone else who is having the
same issues.

Sound Forge 8.0d is now Available

2006-04-07 Thread Steve Pattison
Sound Forge 8.0d is now available. I have listed
the changes in this version as well as those in
version 8.0c because I don't think they have been
posted to this list previously. Here are the changes for both versions:

Notable fixes/changes in version 8.0d

Support has been added for opening and rendering
ATRAC3™, ATRAC3plus™, and ATRAC
Advanced Lossless™ files.
A bug has been fixed that could cause Sound Forge
to crash when bypassing certain
plug-ins using automation envelopes.
A bug has been fixed that could cause Sound Forge
to crash when starting the Batch
Converter script if the current file had not yet been saved.
A bug has been fixed that could cause Sound Forge
to crash when running scripts that
use markers in a media file and attempt to close the media file via the script.
A bug has been fixed that could prevent you from
dragging regions from the Regions
List window to the workspace or to an empty data window.
A bug has been fixed that could cause Sound Forge
to freeze when starting playback
on some systems.
Improvements have been made to resolve issues with certain VST effects.
An issue has been fixed that could cause some VST
effects to unexpectedly revert
to their default settings.
A bug has been fixed that caused preset labels in
the Mix, Crossfade, and MIDI Trigger
dialogs to display incorrect settings.
A bug has been fixed that prevented arrow keys
from drawing straight lines with the
Pencil tool when holding the left mouse button.
A bug has been fixed that caused recording to
stop prematurely when recording 88.2
kHz audio.
A bug has been fixed that prevented you from
undoing sample-rate changes made via
the status bar.
A bug has been fixed that caused file lengths to
be displayed incorrectly in the
Explorer window.
A bug has been fixed that could cause lengths to
be displayed incorrectly in the
Undo/Redo History window.
A bug has been fixed that could cause Insert
Silence to display incorrect time values
in the Batch Converter.
A bug has been fixed that caused the Post-roll
setting from Preferences Previews
to be ignored.
Various issues with the Auto Trim/Crop function have been resolved.
A bug has been fixed that caused the Markers to
Regions command to fail if a selection
existed in a file.

Notable fixes/changes in version 8.0c

A bug has been fixed that could cause ASIO
devices to stop working after installing
the Sound Forge 8.0b update.
A bug that affected rendering and reading of
large AIF files has been fixed: 16-bit,
44.1 kHz stereo AIF renders are now limited to
approximately 03:22:53 of audio (536,870,909
samples); 24 bit, 96 kHz stereo renders are now
limited to approximately 01:02:08
of audio (357,913,940 samples); the largest file
that can be rendered as AIF is approximately
2GB in size. Sound Forge 8.0c will continue to
load files created with previous releases
that exceed these limits, though other applications may fail to load them.
A bug has been fixed that could cause problems reading some VOX or IVC files.
General improvements have been made to scripting
and the Batch Converter script.
When developing scripts, be sure to use the latest version of the
scripting SDK.

The commercial version certainly supports a variety of burners. I
guess you can produce an OEM version of any product to be tied to
anything you want. Really, Nero is a good and quite easy to use program.

One thing I didn't care for with CDRWin was the inability to use
Explorer to copy and burn files. That is a real convinence when it
 comes to Nero.

At 06:56 PM 4/3/2006, you wrote:
I believe that program is CD-rwin. Actually, nero is irratating, and I
might
as well get my feelings out about it. Earlier on today, I installed an LG
burner, having used a sony burner. (the sony will go on later). That's not
the point; nero came with the sony burner. But why in gods name does it
only
support sony burners? And if I have to pay extra money to get nero to
recognize my LG burner I'm going to uninstal it, and go with something
half-decent.

Due to recent compatibility issues with my system, I'm considering a
  switch
from Nero to another burner. I have no issues with how it works with
  either
of my screen readers, but I'm not pleased with it's performance on my
  new
system. If Bruce is monitoring the group today, I'd appreciate a link
  to
  the
program that he's mentioned from time to time as a nice Nero
  alternative.
Anyone else is welcomed to chip in with additional thoughts. With all
  do
respect for the many other listers who use it successfully, Nero has
  simply
bumped up against my patience often enough to encourage me to do a bit
  of
alternative exploration. I'm not looking to start a debate here on its
merrits. I'd be the first to agree that it has many. still, I like
  looking
at other screen reader friendly alternatives.

  Thanks much for all thoughts

Re: Ipod shuffle

2006-04-07 Thread Larry N
Doc, I understand your frustration. These things are great once you get them
loaded with music, but in order to get mine going, I needed my wife's help.
As I recall, once you get to the point where you're moving music from the
iTunes library to the iPod shuffle, you can choose the tracks yourself. But
first you have to get the library and the shuffle to communicate. And I know
of no way to use something other than iTunes for the transfer of your music.
If someone out there can prove me wrong on that score, I'd be grateful.

Sorry, not exactly a positive post. Quite honestly, I use the iPod shuffle
because I got it for free. Still, it does sound great, and the buttons on
the device itself are quite easy to identify and use.

Doc, I understand your frustration. These things are great once you get
 them
loaded with music, but in order to get mine going, I needed my wife's
 help.
As I recall, once you get to the point where you're moving music from the
iTunes library to the iPod shuffle, you can choose the tracks yourself.
 But
first you have to get the library and the shuffle to communicate. And I
 know
of no way to use something other than iTunes for the transfer of your
 music.
If someone out there can prove me wrong on that score, I'd be grateful.

Sorry, not exactly a positive post. Quite honestly, I use the iPod shuffle
because I got it for free. Still, it does sound great, and the buttons on
the device itself are quite easy to identify and use.

Subject: Sound Forge 8.0d is
now Available

Sound Forge 8.0d is now
available. I have listed
the changes in this version as
well as those in
version 8.0c because I don't
think they have been
posted to this list
previously. Here are the
changes for both versions:

Notable fixes/changes in
version 8.0d

Support has been added for
opening and rendering
ATRAC3T, ATRAC3plusT, and
ATRAC
Advanced LosslessT files.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause Sound Forge
to crash when bypassing
certain
plug-ins using automation
envelopes.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause Sound Forge
to crash when starting the
Batch
Converter script if the
current file had not yet been
saved.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause Sound Forge
to crash when running scripts
that
use markers in a media file
and attempt to close the media
file via the script.
A bug has been fixed that
could prevent you from
dragging regions from the
Regions
List window to the workspace
or to an empty data window.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause Sound Forge
to freeze when starting
playback
on some systems.
Improvements have been made to
resolve issues with certain
VST effects.
An issue has been fixed that
could cause some VST
effects to unexpectedly revert
to their default settings.
A bug has been fixed that
caused preset labels in
the Mix, Crossfade, and MIDI
Trigger
dialogs to display incorrect
settings.
A bug has been fixed that
prevented arrow keys
from drawing straight lines
with the
Pencil tool when holding the
left mouse button.
A bug has been fixed that
caused recording to
stop prematurely when
recording 88.2
kHz audio.
A bug has been fixed that
prevented you from
undoing sample-rate changes
made via
the status bar.
A bug has been fixed that
caused file lengths to
be displayed incorrectly in
the
Explorer window.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause lengths to
be displayed incorrectly in
the
Undo/Redo History window.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause Insert
Silence to display incorrect
time values
in the Batch Converter.
A bug has been fixed that
caused the Post-roll
setting from Preferences
Previews
to be ignored.
Various issues with the Auto
Trim/Crop function have been
resolved.
A bug has been fixed that
caused the Markers to
Regions command to fail if a
selection
existed in a file.

Notable fixes/changes in
version 8.0c

A bug has been fixed that
could cause ASIO
devices to stop working after
installing
the Sound Forge 8.0b update.
A bug that affected rendering
and reading of
large AIF files has been
fixed: 16-bit,
44.1 kHz stereo AIF renders
are now limited to
approximately 03:22:53 of
audio (536,870,909
samples); 24 bit, 96 kHz
stereo renders are now
limited to approximately
01:02:08
of audio (357,913,940
samples); the largest file
that can be rendered as AIF is
approximately
2GB in size. Sound Forge 8.0c
will continue to
load files created with
previous releases
that exceed these limits,
though other applications may
fail to load them.
A bug has been fixed that
could cause problems reading
some VOX or IVC files.
General improvements have been
made to scripting
and the Batch Converter
script.
When developing scripts, be
sure to use the latest version
of the
scripting SDK.

Hi,
This service works with Windows XP Media Player 10.
the main window the player conttrols are not accessible, but the search
field is.
search for a artist press enter.
if it is found, the station will start playing.
if it is not found, or if you spell it wrong, it will ask you did you
mean...
you then must choose yes or no. but it is not accessible.

just to see if it will play for you, use a station I played below.
To immediately listen to this music station I've created (named Kirk
Franklin Radio)
simply click on this link or copy and paste it into your Internet browser:

Subject: boot camp, read everyone

More and more people are buying and loving Macs. To make this choice simply
irresistible, Apple will include technology in the next major release of Mac
OS X, Leopard, that lets you install and run the Windows XP operating system
on your Mac. Called Boot Camp (for now), you can download a public beta
today.

As elegant as it gets

Boot Camp lets you install Windows XP without moving your Mac data, though
you will need to bring your own copy to the table, as Apple Computer does
not sell or support Microsoft Windows.(1) Boot Camp will burn a CD of all
the required drivers for Windows so you don't have to scrounge around the
Internet looking for them.

Mac OS X and Windows.

Run XP natively

Once you've completed Boot Camp, simply hold down the option key at startup
to choose between Mac OS X and Windows. (That's the alt key for you
longtime Windows users.) After starting up, your Mac runs Windows completely
natively. Simply restart to come back to Mac.

What you'll need
List of 7 items
. Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6 (check
Software Update)
. The latest Firmware update (check
Support Downloads)
. 10GB free hard disk space
. An
Intel-based Mac
. A blank recordable CD
. A printer for the instructions (You'll want to print them before
installing Windows, really.) . A bona fide installation disc for Microsoft
Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Home or Professional (No multi-disc, upgrade or
Media Center versions.) list end

The Boot Camp course

Boot Camp Public Beta provides a straightforward means of letting your Mac
run Windows. Here's how it works:
Intuitive partitioning.

Space maker. Meet the most elegant hard drive utility ever.
List of 6 items
. First, you need to make sure your Intel-based Mac has the latest version
of Mac OS X and the latest firmware update. These provide technologies that
make Boot Camp possible. It's also wise to print out the Installation
Setup Guide.
. The Boot Camp burns a CD with the drivers Windows needs to recognize
Mac-specific hardware. It is very important to do this before starting the
Windows installation.
. The software also helps you set aside hard drive space for the Windows
installation, without moving any of your Mac files around. Just drag the
intuitive slider to choose the size that's right for you. Boot Camp also
helps you remove the Windows partition, should you so desire.
. Next, insert your Windows installation disc, restart and follow the
Windows installation process. The only tricky part is selecting the C: drive
manually.
Be sure to get this right, or you could erase your Mac files accidentally.
Remember, Apple Computer does not sell or support Microsoft Windows.
. After the installation process is complete and your Mac has booted
Windows, you'll need the Macintosh Drivers CD you burned previously. When
you insert the CD, it will automatically install the drivers. Follow the
instructions in the Installation Setup Guide for helpful hints.
. Don't forget to follow best practices for updating and protecting your
Windows system (see Word to the wise to right).
list end
List of 1 items
1. You'll need Windows XP Home Edition or Professional, Service Pack 2
installation disc.

Included Amenities

For your convenience, Boot Camp burns a CD with all the Mac-specific drivers
for Windows:
List of 7 items
. Graphics
. Networking
. Audio
. AirPort wireless
. Bluetooth
. The Eject key (on Apple keyboards)
. Brightness control for built-in displays list end

This CD also installs a Startup Disk control panel for Windows. To find it,
look for Startup Disk in the Performance and Maintenance section of the
Windows XP Control Panel. See the Installation Setup Guide for more
details.

Using Windows on a Mac

Mac hardware operates differently from PCs, and this public beta does not
support all features of the Mac in Windows.
Learn more
about running Windows on a Mac.

Mac OS X Leopard

Developers can learn all about the sixth major release of Mac OS X this
century at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference, to be held August 7-11 in
San Francisco.

EFI and BIOS

Macs use an ultra-modern industry standard technology called EFI to handle
booting. Sadly, Windows XP, and even the upcoming Vista, are stuck in the
1980s with old-fashioned BIOS. But with Boot Camp, the Mac can operate
smoothly in both centuries.

Word to the Wise

Windows running on a Mac is like Windows running on a PC. That means it'll
be subject to the same attacks that plague the Windows world. So be sure to
keep it updated with the latest Microsoft Windows security fixes.

 Hello there Group!
I am running WE5.5 and all I have to do is place the cursor at either
the beginning or end of the URL in question and hold down the shift
and run the arrow over text to be highlighted and then CTRL-c to copy
it to the clipboard and then I open my browser and the open url

thing I might suggest is that perhaps the url may be broken into
multiple lines in which case you will have to paste the url in to a
notepad document and place the URL onto a single line. Hope this helps..!

Winamp Equalizer: How To Change

2006-04-07 Thread Pam Drake
Well, I never thought I'd need this info because I haven't had trouble
playing any files.

Today I received a disk in the mail containing a tutorial. I launched a
section of the tutorial in Winamp and found the quality very muffled and
almost unlistenable.

I wonder if the disk is defective or if I should try working with the
equalizer? I tried opening the file in Windows Media Player; but it started
in Winamp again.  This is no surprise because Winamp is my default player;
but now I want to try Media Player, at least for this disk. I don't want to
change the default.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. I'd hate to have to send
the disk back, but it really is poor, at least on my computer.

Thanks as always in advance.

audegy and speaker setup

2006-04-07 Thread Richard Quan
Hi,

I just installed an audio audegy sound card and have some questions about
configuring it. When I was using my previous sound blaster, I could have it
play through two sets of speakers, one out of the sspeakers jack and the
other out of auxiliary I think. With this card, there are 4 jacks from what
I can tell; two would be for speakers. I can only get sound out of one
jack. How can I get both speaker jacks working?

I have jacks on my front panel as well. Does this type of card support
front panel playing?

As well, under the advanced settings of my playback options, I used to be
able to adjust bass and treble with the blaster. How come I can't get at
that now? The only choice I have is play only digital ... or something
like that.

Finally, what speaker setting should I set for audegy cards. I notice
quade, 5.1 7.1 etc. Which is appropriate? Thanks in advance,

Richard

Re: Ipod shuffle

2006-04-07 Thread Chris Skarstad
Lary, check out

http://www.redchairsoftware.com

You can buy a wonderful program called Anapod Explorer. It provides a
windows explorer type of interface to transfer your tunes to your
iPod, which is *much* more accessible and easy than iTunes! To me it
is the only way to go. Unfortunately, iTunes must be present on your
system for everything to worrk, so make sure that you do not uninstall iTunes!
You can buy 2 versions of the Anapod software. One for all iPods
which costs $30, and one for $20 which is just for the shuffle.

Trust me! This is way way way better than iTunes!

At 10:11 AM 4/7/2006, you wrote:

Re: Question primarily directed to Bruce

Nero hasn't given me any trouble as far as technical issues; its just the
fact that I have to pay extra money just to let it support other burners. It
will probably come to around $100, but since it may well be worth it I'll
dig up the money and give it a shot. (anyone having luck with nero 7 ultra

Thanks,

CDRwin sounds like exactly the burner that I'm looking for. Unfortunately
the link to their site and to any product related download site brings you
to a dead link. Hopefully it's just a temporary website issue.

Actually, I've had some success with Nero, but have experienced problems
that needed to be worked out on every computer where I have loaded it.
 This
time, opening one portion of the software package silenced speech. I
 simply
 decided that enough was enough.

So I'll try a few things and see what works.

 not
the point; nero came with the sony burner. But why in gods name does it
 only
support sony burners? And if I have to pay extra money to get nero to
recognize my LG burner I'm going to uninstal it, and go with something

Anyone else is welcomed to chip in with additional thoughts. With all do

RE: boot camp, read everyone

2006-04-07 Thread Christopher J Chaltain
I assumed this was something like VMWare, where you could run Windows and
OS X simultaneously, but after looking more closely it appears to be more
of a dual boot option. I guess it's for the family or someone who wants
to be able to run OS X some of the time and Windows XP at other times.
Maybe it'll help people transition from Windows to OS X. I'm assuming a
Mac will cost you a bit more than a PC for the same performance, both
running windows, so I wouldn't think people would be running out to buy
Macs so they could run Windows on it, especially when you'll have to pay
for Windows.

As far as VoiceOver is concerned, I assume it would run under OS X, but it
wouldn't give you any access to Windows, since according to what I'm
reading, OS X and VoiceOver won't be running if you boot up into Windows.

Please understand that these are just my assumptions based on a very
cursory glance at the information. Anyone more knowledge is encouraged to
correct anything I've said here!

More and more people are buying and loving Macs. To make this choice
simply
irresistible, Apple will include technology in the next major release of
Mac
OS X, Leopard, that lets you install and run the Windows XP operating
system
on your Mac.

Run XP natively

Once you've completed Boot Camp, simply hold down the option key at

longtime Windows users.) After starting up, your Mac runs Windows

 Thanks as always in advance.

 Pam

Re: boot camp, read everyone

2006-04-07 Thread Gary Wood
But maybe there are some advantages of having a Mack over Windows, and then
again, there are advantages of having Windows over a Mack, so there are some
advantages of having both on your PC!

I am wondering if you are going to run Windows on the MAC why do you want a
MAC? I mean isn't the point of having a MAC because you don't want to use
 Windows?

More and more people are buying and loving Macs. To make this choice
 simply
irresistible, Apple will include technology in the next major release of
 Mac
OS X, Leopard, that lets you install and run the Windows XP operating
 system
on your Mac.

 System Manager

Optional alt. At startup, hold down the option key (alt) to choose between
 Mac OS X and Windows.

 Run XP natively

Once you've completed Boot Camp, simply hold down the option key at
 startup
to choose between Mac OS X and Windows. (That's the alt key for you
longtime Windows users.) After starting up, your Mac runs Windows
 completely
natively. Simply restart to come back to Mac.

 What you'll need

 . Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6 (check
 Software Update)
. The latest Firmware update (check
 Support Downloads)
. 10GB free hard disk space
 . An
 Intel-based Mac
 . A blank recordable CD
. A printer for the instructions (You'll want to print them before
installing Windows, really.) . A bona fide installation disc for Microsoft
Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Home or Professional (No multi-disc, upgrade
 or
 Media Center versions.) list end

 The Boot Camp course

Boot Camp Public Beta provides a straightforward means of letting your Mac
run Windows. Here's how it works:
 Intuitive partitioning.

Space maker. Meet the most elegant hard drive utility ever.
 List of 6 items
. First, you need to make sure your Intel-based Mac has the latest version
of Mac OS X and the latest firmware update. These provide technologies
 that
make Boot Camp possible.
The only tricky part is selecting the C:
 drive

Total RecorderPro4401 Is Not Recording Through Microphone

2006-04-07 Thread Fazil M.
Hi,listers.
I'm using Total RecorderPro4401 and I am unable to record through microphone.
I activated Recording Source and Parameter button and checked Sound-board
radio-button but still can not record via microphone, although microphone is
just working fine in Window's Sound Recorder.

Any suggestions, please?

Thanks!

urrl finder

2006-04-07 Thread blsmass
Well, for the most part the replay-AV urrl finder does not work. It just
says zero items. It took me 10 to 15 minutes to finally get it to
recognize the urrl. Then, when I put it in (typed it from my own
dictation,) it didn't work because apparently redirects stations etc and
would not accept the urrl (but then it could have been my typing couldn't
it). Anyway, Dick Estel is on at 7 o'clock pacific time for anybody who
wants to know. It was good to hear his voice. I also sent replay a note
telling them the stream is not working and will send one to the radio
station too, since a bunch of their links don't work either. Kurt

Re: Total RecorderPro4401 Is Not Recording Through Microphone

2006-04-07 Thread Adrian Spratt
in that recorder source setting, tab to the change button. Make sure
microphone is highlighted, then choose an appropriate quality level. Total
Recorder's help is confusing here, but my experience showed me to look for a
program running at 8 kHz. There's more than one 8 kHz choice. You'll
notice one list with mostly word names. Skip that and tab to the next list.
At each item in this second list you'll need to tab back and forth for the
numbers.

Once you've made your choice, Make sure you press OK there and then tab
through for the box where you'll assign your new setting a name. I gave my
first experiment the name mike1, then mike2. Then, though it may not be
intuitive, tab again to OK. Pressing enter on your chosen name won't save
either it or your setting.

You would also be advised to follow the help instructions under quality,
the word you should start typing in once you open help and press alt-i for
index. I believe you tab once, possibly twice, after typing that word for
the topics list. The quality of sound help file recommends you download a
Lame file not included in the TR package. I had to find that file by doing
a Google search. It enables MP3 recording, which expands your TR recorder
source choices.

Sorry, I'm making this sound complicated. I did it myself the other day and
it took hours to figure it all out. I hope I've made these suggestions
clear enough.
