Playing directories in Winamp from Explorer
I just noticed a very strange Winamp (version 5.22) behavior when deciding on a new audiobook to read. I chose the directory I wanted and figured to use the Play in Winamp option of the File menu. Of course, I could just as easily have run Winamp and used the open directory dialog to perform my book selection, but it just so happened I did it via Explorer. Well, imagine my surprise when I heard the book not start at the beginning, but at the twelfth file in. I immediately checked to make sure shuffle was turned off and sort files in the playlist portion of the preferences dialog was turned on. Both were set correctly. I then checked to see if my files had the correct names, or their tags might have been out of wack in some way. Both were OK. So what's up with this behavior, anybody know? P.S., if I open the directories in Winamp using Shift-L, the book plays from the beginning just as it should. P.P.S.: Is it reproducible? Absolutely. Starts on the same file every time. A different starting point for different directories chosen, but definitely the same track in the listing for each folder tried so far. P.P.P.S.: Is the Alt-E playlist correct? Yes. In fact, when I open the playlist with Alt-E, I'm right on the track that's playing, whether it's the twelfth or the ninetieth or whatever. P.P.P.P.S.: Is there a relation to the order of files in the directory as seen from a DOS (command shell) prompt and the number at which the playlist starts playing when Winamp is launched from Windows Explorer? Unknown. I'm trying to figure that one out now, but there doesn't appear to be one. This one's a real puzzler. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Sam Encoder and Plug-In; Shoutcast Servers and Shoutcast Plug-in; and which one to use and how
Hello List! I am currently using the Shoutcast Server and Plug-in with my Winamp program that I use when broadcasting on my internet radio station. Lately, I purchased the Sam Plug-in. My questin is: How do I set this plug-in up? Is it the same as the shoutcast plug-in? Once it is installed, do I have a choice of which ones to use, the sam plug-in or shoutcast plug-in? Also, how about servers? Could I install a Windows Media Server and Shoutcast Server and use either with the plug-ins or both? What is the process to follow in this? Also, give me ideas on other servers if you wish. Finally, which is more convenient to use: Shoutcast Servers or a server from a stream provider? Re: still waiting for answers
Well, since I don't know audacity, this is where someone else needs to take over. But, if Audacity is anything like Goldwave (and, in this respect, it ought to be.), there should be some configuration section where you can tell the program from which recording source to take its input. What we did with the volume control SHOULD have set that to what you hear. But, the first thing I would do, at this point, is to check from within the software that that is, indeed, what has happened. beyond that, you'll have to find an audacity guru. Good luck. Hi. Most of your questions will be answered if you go to http://www.acbradio.org/archives/mainmenu/mm1613.mp3 Back in November of 2003, I produced a half hour long tutorial/demonstration about the Sam Encoders, which, again, should answer most of your questions. If you're wondering about servers, my experience shows that it could go either way. if you're looking to broadcast to a larger audience and you can afford a server with lots of bandwidth allocated for it, then a server provider is the way to go. The ones at http://ultrahost.us have Shoutcast servers. If, however, you're just looking to broadcast to a smaller group of people then running a server on your own machine should not present a problem, unless you're on a dialup connection in which case you won't have a lot of bandwidth. Either way, that presentation should help you sort things out. hopefully it'll all make sense. At 03:25 PM 8/20/2006, you wrote: Hello List! Re: [Bulk] Re: Anipod Explorer
Hi there. I have downloaded and installed the Amapod explorer and it really does work very well. I have only a couple of questions. 1. When choosing songs from a folder for transfer to my iPod, how do I select the songs that I want to transfer? Since I can't check and uncheck them, the only way I could see to do it is to copy all of the songs meant for transfer into a separate folder and then begin the transfer. That works well, but is it the most efficient way to do it? 2. Along with the Anapod Shuffler I received Anapod Copy Gear. Since I copied my files from Shuffler, what purpose does Copy Gear serve. Thanks very much to both Linda and Chris for pointing me to the download url. Re: Media players and audible.com books?
When I go into Audible Manager, I can select Edit from the file menu andchoose the Options ... item. In the Desktop Playback page, I can select Audible's Desktop Playback application, Real Player or Windows Media Player. I'm not sure what this will do if you try to access a .aa file directly, but it works through Audible Manager. Andrew J. LaPointe wrote: Hi, besides using real player that supports audible book. com books are there any other players that can be used? I tried windows media player, and winamp but, it doesn't acknowledge the files due to the AA extension. The reason I want to use something other than real player is so that I could adjust the speed of the voice from fast to normal or slow like you can do with windows media player. Any help is greatly appreciated.
