Re: The Gismo Project
I heard of one called Freeworld dialup that's supposed to be good, only thing is what good is it if I can't get a landline-type call out or have phone numbers to receive some in? I heard Gizmo can probably give me a local number in, but Skype only has 2 little towns I've never been to in my whole area code, at least what they normally show. - Original Message - From: "David Tanner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Talking On radio
Hello list! Now that I have figured out how to broadcast and use servers and plug-ins somewhat, I want to do some talking on air. I know some people do it using Winamp and other programs (Otsdj and Sam Broadcaster or Station Playlist). I want to do it live. Where do I go. I hear Mike Smith and Wayne and the other guys do it on interactive. They sound so clear and good. Give me some tutorial resources that I can go to learn it step-by-step. Professional Broadcast Headset
Hello List, I would like to get a suggestion for a professional broadcast stereo headset--one that allows one to hear sounds in stereo, an input from a producer to give instructions to broadcaster, and, of course a microphone setup and a telephone set up, where you can hear it all. I want the kind of thing they use during ball game broadcasts that goes on your head with all sorts of controls. I want to use it to broadcast on my radio station and use it to do some music editing. I guess I want it all. Just give me an idea of a few good ones that I can check out. Re: The obvious.....Isn't
Morey, also, don't forget about the effect of the intrinsic acoustics of the space in which you are listening. Hardly anyone's real world listening space is ideally balanced. My desktop speakers are set to a perfect 50%, and sill I hear the left speaker far more than the right. It could be the speakers themselves, but, I suspect, it is more likely the way the sound reflects off the wall behind my desk and all the other stuff on the desk. Suggestion: Run a couple of test with headphones. - Original Message - From: "Morey Worthington" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: The Gismo Project
Well, I just installed it on one of my computers this morning, and there is a serious problem with registering as a new user. The registration requires typing in of a security code, and that security code is not accessible with speech access as they display it in graphics. The only way to get signed up with the service is to have a sighted person look at the screen and give you the security code. That means that a blind user is basicly excluded from even registering without the help of a sighted person. Once in the program I did not find it to be particularly accessible either. - Original Message - From: "Gary Wood" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Fwd: Poikosoft Newsletter: Easy CD-DA Extractor 10 now available!
Is this version 10B, or a newer 10C? If it's B, I say stick with 9.1.3. For some reason I don't understand, after working for a couple of days, the configuration file that fixed the problem tracking the cursor in the track selection list, in the ripper component, suddenly stopped working for me. And, the check boxes in that window still are not JAWS-readable. I haven't found any advantage in 10 over 9.1.3, making the switch worth these inconveniences. - Original Message - From: "John Gurd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. RE: Winamp and CD's; Strange Issue
Yeah, I've had the reboot happen to me a couple of times as well. The only other thing I can think of is, I DID install that Transcoder plug-in a few months back. It seems the problems started a bit after I installed that, so maybe I'll remove it and see if that helps...Over all, I've found the transcoder somewhat difficult to use and somewhat inaccessible...Though I can't think what it would have to do with playing/ripping a CD since I'm not actually USING the plug-in for that purpose. -- Visit me on Myspace! http://www.myspace.com -- Original message -- From: "Rick Alfaro" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > I don't have the solution, so would be interested in anything you find out. > My problem is similar, but much more severe because when I attempt to play > an audio cd in Winamp 5.24, the system reboots. Hi Morey, try changing your cables around to your speakers, and see if the sound keeps coming less out of the same speaker. If there is a change, then problem is in one of your cables. hi, In most sound cards, 50 percent is even on both speakers. Have you checked the length of both cables running to the speakers? There could be something wrong with one of them. That problem has happened to me with headphones, and it's generally a cord being messed up somehow. The obvious.....Isn't
Hello all, I have asked a question before about sound coming out of 1 stereo desktop speaker more than the other. This is where the obvious, which isn't, comes in. With the speaker balance set at 50 percent, a person should think that an equal amount of sound would come out of each speakershouldn't they? Well..If I take the balance down to less than 10 percent the stereo sounds are now more evident. I can then raise the volume and all is better. Is something wrong with set-up? Or again, is the obvious, not obvious? I have checked the input jacks for speakers and all appears well, and as I said before, the volume control is on the base of one of the speakers. Am I missing something where my thinking that 50 percent is equal? Re: Winamp and CD's; Strange Issue
no I've not had that problem, but I have had this wierd problem that I don't know what to do about. When I upgraded to winamp 5.24 I get this issue some times where i go to fast forward through a file, and winamp hangs up and makes this absolutely horible noise and won't stop unless I restart the whole system. Does anyone else have this problem and know what I can do about it? Brandon - Original Message - From: "Wes Derby" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. RE: Winamp and CD's; Strange Issue
I don't have the solution, so would be interested in anything you find out. My problem is similar, but much more severe because when I attempt to play an audio cd in Winamp 5.24, the system reboots. I don't have this problem with Windows Media Player ever. I have tried going back a few versions with Winamp, but still the same problem. --Best regards, --Rick Alfaro [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Wes Derby Sent: Wednesday, August 30, 2006 12:02 AM To: PC audio discussion list. Subject: Winamp and CD's; Strange Issue Hi All. Okay, here's a strange one; maybe someone else has experienced this. I now use Winamp for all of my ripping needs, as well as most of my audio burning (I'm now using CDRWin for data burning since Easy CD Creator is no longer accessible.). Ever since the 5.2 series came out, I've had a rather strange problem. Often, when I put in an audio CD to play, the whole system will freeze up if I load it in Winamp...Then, when I reboot, it tells me that XP has recovered from a "serious crash", and asks if I want to submit an error report. When I do, it says an undertermined driver caused the problem. Then, occasionally whenI'm ripping, after a few CD's, Winamp will give an error saying it needs to close...When I submit the error report to Microsoft, it claims NullSoft has created an update which will fix the error, and gives me a link to click...This simply takes me to the page to download the newest version of the player, which is what I have. I have two CD/DVD drives, one of which is my burner. It doesn't matter which drive I use; this can happen with either one. The odd part is that I have no problem burning...Also, when I play a CD in another program such as Windows Media Player, I have no problems. I simply prefer Winamp and find it much more full-featured and easier to use. Like I said, I've only encountered this problem since I upgraded to version 5.21; I'm on 5.24 now. Anyone else having this problem, or know of a patch I can download? It's a really irritating thing to have to deal with...Plus, when Winamp crashes, it locks the CD drive up, so I have to reboot just to be able to eject. Usually, if I put the disc back in and re-do my rip, it works just fine...Winamp never gives me problems, like I said, when I'm burning CD's or playing files from my hard drive...It's only when I'm popping in a CD to play, or on occasion when I'm ripping...And it doesn't happen every time. With the problem when playing, sometimes I can load three or four CD's before I have a problem. With ripping, sometimes I can go through twenty with no problems, but then the next three will give me trouble. Very strange...Any help would be appreciated. nero and dvd rw discs
hi all, i use dvd rw discs as storage. i want to alter the contents of one disc by removing several files on it and replacing them with new ones. no matter what i do, i can't manage this seemingly simple task. nero just stubbornly tells me the disc is full. how on earth am i supposed to achieve this task? the only way i've managed it so far is to copy the whole contents of the dvd back my hard drive, erase the dvd and start again. is this how it's done? or am i doing something wrong somewhere? Re: The Gismo Project
its a neat application, however the fact that the application, after installation, requires you to fofill a capcha to create your acount is quite bothersome. In addition the developement team has made it clear they have no interest in changing this practice to accomidate blind users. - Original Message - From: "Gary Wood" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list.
