High Samuel, Aren't you a little mixed up there? You said to run a line in cable from the headphone jack of the sound card to the headphone jack of the tape player. That trick wont work. Because you are trying to run 2 outputs in to each other. If the voltage was much higher then 250mv which comes out of both a walk man and your sound card, you will end up frying your tape player and your sound card all at the same time. The headphone jack if anything, should be connected to the line in jack of the sound card. This way, Gold Wave or any audio editor will make the recording without any problems. I'm not to keen on making recordings on a pc yet, but I did learn that the hard way when I was a kid. Two outputs can't be connected together. Hello my name is Sue. Hope I could find some friendly people here on this list. Hopefully some of you are visually impaired and could help me out. I recently got a cd burner and am loving it. Am using this program from Readingmadeeasy.com. It allows me to create data and audio cds. What I would like to do is somehow convert my tapes to MP3 format then I could transfer to cd. I did look at two programs which are audio grabber and audacity. Since I only have a 20 GB hard drive with 256 MB of ramcould this work? Also if I were going to do this I also know I would need some sort of cable to go from my computer to my tape deck. I do have a tape player about the size of the walkman, could I use that? What kind of cable would I need. Also am using Window Eyes and since am looking at those programs I have mentioned, I did look at the memory and the space they would take up. Would this work? Am looking at an hour tape to convert to cd. I am also running Windows XP. So if anyone has suggestions on how to do this since this is my first time in making cds and loving it. Thank you. The music on the file takes 56 minutes to play. Why is the total space taken up by this file over 1 gig? the first time I recorded it in two half-hour sessions each file was about 287 megs? Now I recorded it all at once, put the appropriate Q points and silences in and the total file is over 1 gig? I don't seem to have extra spaces? If I lower the sampling rate I'll reduce quality. Re: Hello am looking for some advice in converting tapes to cd.
I wouldn't advise that either. I would suggest going to the line out of a tape deck for better signal and no likelihood of unwanted added frequencies. Thank you. Comments on my first experience of tape to cd.
Hi, I had so much trouble with the extra file size because I was given the distinct impression by some, (probably not on this list) that I could just keep everything in goldwave unbounded and open and close the file and record as long or as short as I needed to, and things would be allright. At least in the gw 5.22, this was not the case in my experience. So after recording in bounding selection, and manually putting in the time, 1.4 gigs turned out to be aprox 570 megs, and thus should fit easily onto a cd. Thanks to all who made suggestions.
