Re: creative zen stone
True, Rockbox isn't supported on the Zen Stone. As far as Creative Lite is concerned, maybe the author of those JFW scripts will update them to work with JFW 10. Do you still have JFW 9? Maybe you could switch back when you needed to run Creative Lite. Rockbox is great, and I occasionally use Creative Lite myself, but IMHO, the Zen Stone is simple enough that it doesn't need Rockbox or Creative Lite for that matter. Re: Apple Releases New Ipod
Well, I agree it's a good development, but I wouldn't say what Apple is doing is revolutionary. Remember Rock box has used this technology for years. I installed rockbox on my first portable media player in 2007 and using talking clips to speak the menus, folders and file names wasn't new then. Right now I have Rockbox running on a 30G iRiver, and I'm using Samantha or Jill for my voice. It's one of those voices that came with JFW 8. Again, don't get me wrong, this is a great development, and I encourage Apple to continue down this path, but their claims of the first talking portable media player are distorted and the technology they're using isn't revolutionary. Constantine wrote: Still, though, even if speach isn't built in, and even if you have to use ms sam, your still getting speech - which is quite a revolution. Yeah, but the fact that an actual popular company is doing this, without us having to instal alternate firmware - that's a step in the right direction. Might not be a revolution, but it sure beats what most companies are doing, and we don't have to use rockbox if we don't want to - but I like rockbox..lol. contact details: email: tcwoo...@shaw.ca and others msn: the_conman...@hotmail.com skype: the_conman283 system details: Hp pavillion dv5220CA notebook pc AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-37 2.0 GHZ, 1024 mb DDR ram, Fujitsu 100 gb 4500 RPM Hard Drive, connecsant AC-link audio - Original Message - From: "Christopher Chaltain" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 8:32 PM Subject: Re: Apple Releases New Ipod Well, I agree it's a good development, but I wouldn't say what Apple is doing is revolutionary.
