Re: creative zen stone

2009-03-17 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I've only personally played with two players running Rockbox, but they
were both equal with respect to navigating menus, , folders and managing
your MP3 files. I would think that all players running Rockbox would be
equivalent in this respect. The only differences I would see would be
the controls of the player themselves. My iRiver has a slide bar and my
Sansa has a scroll wheel.

True, Rockbox isn't supported on the Zen Stone.

As far as Creative Lite is concerned, maybe the author of those JFW
scripts will update them to work with JFW 10. Do you still have JFW
9? Maybe you could switch back when you needed to run Creative Lite.

Rockbox is great, and I occasionally use Creative Lite myself, but
IMHO, the Zen Stone is simple enough that it doesn't need Rockbox or
Creative Lite for that matter.

Rockbox doesn't support this player, and why should it, as it only
has a few simple functions - please read up on said website before

Secondly, scripts for what? JFW lite is outdated.

Playing DVD films on a PC

2009-03-17 Thread Ray
Trust this is on topic, but if it isn't then I'll include a link at the end
to make it easier to email me off-list.

A friend wants to play DVD films on her PC - running Windows XP Home and
latest version of JFW I believe.

I've advised installing Windows Media Player 11 which she says she's done,
but she cannot play DVDs still. Whether this is her not knowing exactly how
to play DVDs in Windows Media Player, or else not knowing how to get to the
play and navigation options, I'm not sure, but help on the use of Windows
Media Player for watching/listening to DVD films would be helpful.

Finally, is there a program which makes this easier than using Windows Media
Player?

Many thanks.

Ray.

Kathy,
Which TB card are you rferring to?

Like, there is the Monteego, the SantaCruz. Etc, Etc.

I have the PCI SantaCruz in one of my PC's and it is the best little card I
have ever used with JAWS.

Of course the control panel is not very accessible. However, the card is
about ten years old and is out of production. You can pick them up cheap on
EBay.

I did not know that Turtle Beach makes a USB sound card so please fill us
in.

then copy the file dsp_audiostocker.dll to your thumbdrive or cd or however
your going to get this file into the other computer
then simply place this file in your other computer in the folder c:\program

Of course c:\program files\winamp is a default and you might have your

Version 3.0 is a major release packed with new features that continue to

• Further you can now instantly create temporary playlists of any subset of
your music collection and limit Random play to only that portion of your
music.
• Moreover, you can turn random play on or off with a single key press like
many commercial MP3 players.
• Text Search. Yes, now you can enter words to search for in your text files
or text-only DAISY books.
• Bookmark alert. You can enable an optional bookmark alert feature to
notify you when you are playing a book and pass over a previously bookmarked
position. It will even automatically announce your audio bookmarks.
• Two text-to-speech voices. The English version of Stream 3.0 will now
include both a male and female text-to-speech voice.
• A 30 minute Time Jump feature and many other usability improvements have
been added.

"With the increasing use of 8gb, 16, and even 32gb storage cards, users are
managing ever increasing amounts of data on their Stream", says Gerry
Chevalier, Victor Reader Product Manager. "With thousands of music files and
hundreds of podcasts or text files they have asked us to provide more
efficient navigation and version 3 delivers just that."

Says Chevalier, "The improved navigation as well as the bookmark alert, text
search and other usability improvements in Stream 3.0 renews HumanWare's
commitment to our Stream customers that we would continue to enhance the
Stream over time to maximize their Stream investment."

And there's more. HumanWare is pleased to announce that Stream 3.0 will also
