Hi Martin. Afraid I don't know Audacity.

Possible reason for the problem with the c0onstant tone using my
instructions: The two files are different file types. Did you import
them or did you create them with the same program?

Thanks for your advice Robert. I have done what you indicated; namely
creating two separate files, and then bringing them together. However,
this latter part is where I have ran into a problem. The two files merge,
and as a result, I just get a constant tone in one ear piece. Another
helpful member on a different list has given me very precise instructions
on how to achieve what I am trying to do with a programme called
Audacity. Again, my problems in producing the audio file I am after is
probably my lack of experience. In this latter case, I am not sure how to
move between tracks in order to select that audio track in order to
manipulate it in the way indicated. Furthermore, the instructions tell me
to pan one track to the left and the other to the right. Only problem is,
that within Audacity, I can find no menu item referring to pan either
left or right.

Thanks for your help Bob.

2009-08-13 Thread M BROWN
I am trying to make a file that will give me a tone in each ear piece in an
alternating fashion. For example. a 1 second tone followed by a 1 second
silence in one ear piece. In the other ear piece the reverse would be true,
a 1 second silence followed by a 1 second tone.

I'd like to have a look at those sites, if that's not too much to ask?

Re: For Robert Logue

2009-08-13 Thread Gary Schindler
the way I would do this is to make a master file with the tones and spacing
of the tones in it. then I would copy the left channel to a new file
altogether. in another file again, I would add one second of silence to the
beginning of the new file. copy this file to the clipboard. go back to the
file that has the tones in the left channel paste the contents into the
right channel of this file and save the file. this should give you the
results you want.

if anyone has another suggestion feel free to elaborate.

Recording problem

2009-08-13 Thread Matthew_2010

Hi all,

I'm kinda desperate at this point and hope someone on this list might be
able to help me out. I'd like to record all the audio and voice/mic on my
computer but having problem doing so. I am using an audigy 2 soundcard with
a plantronics 355 headset. I attach my headset and set windows sndvol32 to
record what you hear, and the sound comes out at half the volume as when
recording my voice with mic. To be exact, I'm recording my voice alone using
Sound Forge 8 and the mic level is pretty good. I then switch over to this
what you hear setting and the recording's volume drops about 50%. Anyone
have any suggestions as to why this is happening? Very weird.

Thanks,

Matthew

WMP Issue

2009-08-13 Thread Mark Matthews

Hi folks,

For some reason I've got a problem with WMP version 11, in that I can't get
any media to back up...the 'Rewind' button is always shown as unavailable.

Normally I'm a Winamp user, but for some reason the protected files I'm
trying to play seem to be causing a problem, or at least that's the only
reason I can think for Winamp crashing, resulting in the whole system
hanging. There WMA files if this sheds anymore light on the subject. TIA.

Mark

Getting rid of Hiss in recordings

2009-08-13 Thread Matthew_2010

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to get rid of hiss in my recordings? I'm using a
Plantronics .audio355 headset mic and recording with Sound Forge. I am using
an Audigy sound card, but its not one of those high end cards. What can I do
to get my recordings to sound like Jonathan Molsen's recordings. I'm trying
to get the great sound quality of his FSCast podcasts. He somehow manages to
get great highs, no hiss, and overall superb sound. Absolutely all recording
tips are wanted whether great or insignificant changes.

Thanks,

Matthew
