Advice on USB Sound Cards.
Hi all, I am new to the list, so apologies if this has been covered several times before. I am seeking recommendations for a USB Audio Interface. The device will mainly be used for internet broadcasting, so midi capability is not particularly important in this case. I was considering an Edirol UA1EX but apparently this product has now been discontinued. Does anybody know what it's replacement is in the Edirol line-up, or alternatively what other USB sound cards would you recommend for the purpose outlined above. Obviously it needs to be reasonably stable in terms of drivers, and I would prefer something that can be controlled through the normal Windows control panel rather than through a proprietary piece of software. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations. Kind regards. Damian. To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: pc-audio-unsubscr...@pc-audio.org

Hi, I have an m-audio soundcard, and when I enable the mic imput and I press m the music doesn't fade Why? I remember that when I used the other sound card, the sound blaster live station playlist fades music correctly, and I can't find the option that tells to station of using this sound card. I would appreciate any help, thanks! RE: Problems Ripping CD's in WMP-10
Hi John, Well here is what you could try. Open control panel. Then open system. Ctrl tab to hardware and tab to device manager and hit space. Now tab to the tree view, where you have all the physical items in your computer. Down arrow to cd and dvd drives, or whatever it's called, and right arrow to expand the branch. Now you down arrow once, and you are located on your Sony drive. Press enter, and the properties opens. If you control tab once to the advanced tab you have various options to look at. It depends on which drive which options are shown here, so can't guide you much further. But an importen thing to ensure is that it should be running in udma mode for best performance. You can also check the transfer settings for your drive under the disk controller. Hope this was guiding you in the right direction? But it's doing that with every CD I pop in to the drive. If you refer back to my post, I got a message that says, Windows Media Player cannot rip this CD correctly. The settings with the drive and the device manager don't match. Based on this, I think something in the CD rom is a mist, but I don't know what it is. Help if you can please! RE: the best audio file to use when ripping a cd with cdex
I would assume so, since according to Wikipedia: FLAC is suitable for everyday audio playback and archival, with support for tagging, cover art and fast seeking. FLAC's free and open source royalty-free nature makes it well-supported by many software applications. FLAC playback support in portable audio devices and dedicated audio systems is limited at this time, compared to formats like MP3, but FLAC is supported out of the box by more hardware devices than competing lossless formats like WavPack. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of André van Deventer Sent: Sunday, May 09, 2010 4:29 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: the best audio file to use when ripping a cd with cdex Does flak not also allow you to input album and track info - something you cannot do with wav? -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Brian Olesen Sent: 09 May 2010 11:06 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: RE: the best audio file to use when ripping a cd with cdex Hi, If you use lossless flacc it's as good as wave. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Casey Sent: 8. maj 2010 22:22 To: PC Audio Subject: the best audio file to use when ripping a cd with cdex Hi what I would like to know is when you rip a CD with CD EX and you want the best uncompressed audio is it better to use wav or flack? Several Winamp questions
I am running Window-Eyes 7.2 and Winamp 5.7 on an XP media center system. Question 1. Is there any way to cause the Window-Eyes script for Winamp to announce the track name before the track begins playing? Question 2. Will the Audio Stocker plug in work with the current incarnations of Winamp? Question 3. What is the most recent version of Winamp which can run on a machine running 98 S E? Thanks.
