Re: Off topic posts [was "RE: internet 8"]
Hello, I am gonna way in on this subject for what it's worth. When you shut down blind people in this manner, you are in a way insulting them. Just as what was said in an earlier post, sighted people assess information on their computers by what they see. Us blind people, don't have a choice but to assess information by reading brail or by listening to it. In the latter case, our ears are our eyes. If you take away a blind person's ability to hear, you take away his/her ability to see. That's what screen readers do for us. This is my opinion for what it's worth, but in order for this list to be a true PC AUDIO list, you need to broaden your view of things because your views are a little too narrow. For what it's worth, I agree that a question about how JAWS works with IE8 isn't right for this list. The answer, as implied by another lister and that would be given more appropriately on a JAWS list, is that this particular error message in IE8 indicates that the user needs to upgrade JAWS. -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Christopher Chaltain Sent: Sunday, June 20, 2010 9:00 PM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: Off topic posts [was "RE: internet 8"] Are you the moderator of the list Tom, and if so, were you speaking as the moderator? Re: Off topic posts [was "RE: internet 8"]
Ok, tom, and others the usage of a screen reader, which gives out audio output to let a blind person hear what is being read is most certainly audio related, how do you expect a person to use the audio products/ other things that work with audio products such as winamp and the web with out using a product that has audio output? not trying to start a fight or argument session here but am trying to enlighten everyone on the possibility that screen readers use audio to comunicate the information on screen to blind people. Sighted people use their eyes to astablish the usage of products and services which blind people use a screen reader to enjoy their internet experiences/ other hobbies they partake in. - Original Message - From: "Christopher Chaltain" To: "'PC Audio Discussion List'" Sent: Sunday, June 20, 2010 7:59 PM Subject: Off topic posts [was "RE: internet 8"] Are you the moderator of the list Tom, and if so, were you speaking as the moderator? Winamp questions
I would like to know if there is some means of copying all mp3 tag info for each track in a playlist to a text file. Although my primary screen reader is Window-Eyes 7.2, I also have a JFW demo on my system. So if there is a way to do this without manually copying the info for each track, please tell me the procedure. The next question is a long shot but worth a try. Although a lot of people want gapless track playing, I want the opposite because I copy some play lists to mini disc, and a 2 to 3 second pause between tracks is necessary to place the mark for a new track. So, I want to know if it is possible to cause Winamp to delay the playing of each track for two seconds or so. Lastly, someone else asked a question recently as to how to auto tag multiple files. I too want to know how to do this. I know how to auto tag individual files but not multiple files. Thanks in advance for ideas. What sound card do you use? -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Matthew Bullis Sent: 20 June 2010 05:59 To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Recording What you Hear in Windows 7? Hello, since I can't figure out the layout or configuration of the options in Windows 7, and since my sound card supports the what you hear option in XP but apparently not in Windows 7, I'm wondering if Total Recorder or Replay AV will take care of the what you hear option for me? Usually when I need to record using the what you hear or stereo master functions, I would just select that option and then record with Sound Forge. However, since this isn't possible in Windows 7 that I've found, does Total Recorder or Replay AV let me record using this option built into either program? For instance, if I'm recording the output of my screen reader to a file, or the playing of a stream, does either program just simply record the audio that comes out of the sound card, or does it actually record internet streams only? I don't need this option very often, but when I do, I'd like to be versed in how to use it. I'd like to learn it before I have to rush a project and have to learn quickly. Thanks a lot.
