the latest version of goldWave will do that conversion.

If we can't look at ourselves, and ask, why? then where does the learning

WinEx DVD ripper

2014-02-04 Thread Walter Ramage
Hi folks. Although I'm in no hurry I intend getting a reasonable DVD
ripper. I've tried in the past to use Magic DVD ripper but that isn't easy
to use. Lots of DVD rippers are not accessible but while doing a search I
came across WinEx DVD ripper. There is a free version and a platinum paid
for version. I have downloaded the free version but haven't yet installed
it because at this moment I have no DVDs to rip. I intend buying the 5 DVD
disc series Cosmos and I will want to rip them to my hard drive. I would
like to know before installing this WinEx DVD ripper if any of you have had
experience of it. According to a web site I found, not connected to the
WinEx web site, it is simple to use. The paid for version can defeat DRM
but it seems not the free version but that doesn't matter because I don't
think the discs I will buy are DRM protected. I really just want to know if
the programme is as easy to use as has been stated. If you have used it or
still use it could you please share your experience as it would be very
helpful, thank you. Walter.

Looking for PC software that changes key but not speed

2014-02-04 Thread Milton Ota
I'm looking for an accessible PC software that will change the key of a
song but not its speed. This is for learning purposes. If paid, please
state the price if you know it but would prefer freeware or shareware.

Please if you have the URL to the website that would also be nice.

Thanks.

Re: Looking for PC software that changes key but not speed

2014-02-04 Thread Dean Masters
Audacity has this which is easy to use. It tells you what key the song is in
then you can choose what key to move it to. And Audacity is free.

I have seen this in other audio programs but it uses percentage to raise or
lower which didn't make sense to me. I like knowing what key the original is
in and what key I am moving it to.

You can download it from
www.ninite.com

Help with Audacity

2014-02-04 Thread Chris H

Hi all
can anyone help with the change speed feature of Audacity? Just don't
understand the dialogue compared to the pitch effect in GoldWave.
Perhaps it's because I work by semitone and not percentage. Any help
greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Help with Audacity

2014-02-04 Thread Dean Masters
I know the change pitch is with notes and not percentages. that is really
the only part of this program I have worked with. I like Audacity since it
does use the notes rather than the percentages. but I don't know why speed
would work with notes instead of percentages.

Greetings,

GoldWave also has the ability to move key without changing pitch, move up or
down a tone, or semi-tone, keep tempo the same works fairly well but none of
these algorythms are perfect, there is always a compromise, but GoldWave is
not free once the trial expires.
