steve, i have that but the program will not make mp3s. i can get it to make waves but not mp3s even when i select to save as mp3. something is kind of confusing. in the encoders tab of settings you choose mp3. I got that. now you would think to choose mp3 right in the save audio dialog right? well, if you do this it will not save as an mp3. so again i ask you steve how are you making mp3s when i know others who use the program that are having the same problems. i have the lame that comes with the balaboka program so no problems there. I'm not certain of the answer, but I believe there is a button to refresh the information in the library. Maybe that has to be done. Also, there are a lot of fields in the properties dialog, so maybe there is another that needs to be changed. I must tell you that some of how this all works is still a mystery to me. I know that when I changed the file name and the title in one case here that Windows Media started displaying it correctly. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hello Sunshine: Try doing this: When it asks you the file name to save, give it a full path, for example: C:\filename.mp3 Or better yet, create a folder inside c:\ for the files, for example: C:\tts And then when saving a file, type: C:\tts\filename.mp3 That is what I do and it works fine. Of course, you must have previously selected to save in MP3, the bit rate and sampling. Well Sunshine, I am not sure I understand what you wrote, but it seems to me that you did what I said and it worked, then you did it again with larger text and it worked again, but then for some reason something else did not work when you tried to convert text to MP3. There are always many possibilities for something to throw a wrench into the works when you are dealing with computers. You must be patient and eliminate possibilities one by one. If you are able to convert small files to MP3 but not larger ones, try using a lower bit rate. Keep in mind that bit and sampler rates go together, for example, you cannot save something at 56K bit and 44100 sampler rates. Above all, if we are to try to help you, you must take care of being very explicit when asking questions, about the detailed steps you have taken, as well as the result and error messages. No, what i said was this. 1 i converted a small file to mp3, that worked. using the method you specified. 2 then i tried to set up a larger file to convert to mp3. did the same steps as you outlined for the first one. when done there was no mp3 in the folder i had placed in the path. so while the smaller file converted just fine, the larger one did not convert at all. would you like the file so you can try it? I am sure you know but just to be sure Sunshine. Did you use a different file name for the larger 2nd file? That is do not use the same file name as you did for the 1st smaller file. I recently installed Quicktime on my machine in anticipation of getting something that uses that program to play the file! It used to be that when I would download these podcasts, it would give me the choice whether to listen or to save. Since I've put Quicktime on here, when I click the link, it immediately opens Quicktime and starts playing the file; this is _not_ want I want! Is there a way around this problem? Must I uninstall Qu9icktime in order to do what I want? I sure hope not, for what I am hoping to get (so it would seem) will only play in Quicktime; it's a video that was taken of a part of a country Christmas show our band was involved in! So if anyone can come up with a way around this problem I have (seems to me all I'd need to do is to tell Quicktime to just sit down and shut up until I need it.but I have found no way to accomplish this! Re: Balabolka
I have no idea how big was this file but I have converted big files. I did even produce mp3 files of stories and complete books with no problem. Obviously that would take much longer time compared to a small file. But, still it is much better in converting files to mp3, even faster than other programs that cost a lot like Kurzweil. Does it hang up, or does it tell you that it completed the conversion? On 6/29/2014 5:18 PM, Humberto Rodriguez wrote: Well Sunshine, I am not sure I understand what you wrote, but it seems to me that you did what I said and it worked, then you did it again with larger text and it worked again, but then for some reason something else did not work when you tried to convert text to MP3. On 6/29/2014 3:17 PM, Humberto Rodriguez wrote: Hello Sunshine: Try doing this: When it asks you the file name to save, give it a full path, for example: C:\filename.mp3 Or better yet, create a folder inside c:\ for the files, for example: C:\tts And then when saving a file, type: C:\tts\filename.mp3 That is what I do and it works fine. Of course, you must have previously selected to save in MP3, the bit rate and sampling. RE: Reposting A Question
Gary: I think I got to the right page you are telling me to go; problem is that Winamp (that's what II want as my default player) isn't there! I think in Winamp preferences, I _do_ have it checked to play all file types. However, when I try to download this particular podcast, Quicktime just jumps on in there and plays the file; this is not what I want! I want to be able to ddownload the podcast as I used to! So I need to know what it is I have to do to accomplish this?
