Denon Cocoon Portable Wireless speaker
cananyone tell me more about this speaker? is it just whireless, or is it also bluetooth inabled?
Re: Denon Cocoon Portable Wireless speaker
I believe there are a number of different Denon Cocoon models, the portable model I have is DLNA/AirPlay with an iPhone dock and an Aux-in. I believe there’s a Bluetooth model available but it doesn’t have as comprehensive feature set as mine does. Not only does my model of Cocoon have DLNA/Airplay but it also has built-in Internet radio which is very accessible through the Denon Cocoon IOS/Android Apps. The Cocoon is one of the best portable units I’ve used, a very natural and warm sound with no overbearing tops or bottoms. Has anyone purchased THE MY VLOUD MIRROR I am looking at the comparisons: https://wdc.com/en/products/personalcloud/consumer/ I purchased the mirror 4TB it looks more complicated over the standard 4TB version. The drive is not showing up in WE. Using the Widnows setup utility I have the desktop icons and only see a public folder? Any tips appreciated, I may swap to the standard 4TB if that is more user friendly. Jamie --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! RE: WD My Cloud For Storing Audio
Very interesting to read this review and the comments about its performance. One question of anyone who has used a NAS drive in the past...generally, does the WD My Cloud offer improved performance over, say, a Netgear NAS drive? I appreciate there are many factors which would affect such a comparison but I'd appreciate anyone's gut-feel for this - certainly, the ease of use and interface of this drive seems to be far better than my current Netgear but wonder if it's worth swapping over from a performance point of view! I recently bought one of these drives and my only comment is that I'm really sorry I didn't buy one earlier. The WD My Cloud has a whole variety of uses including the storage and sharing of audio/video files around your house using DLNA and so on. Before the WD My Cloud drive came along I was using USB drives hanging off the Asus RTN56U rooter, whilst this method of sharing media was affective the speed was very slow. With the WD My Cloud connected directly to the Rooter I've fround speed has increased even to the point where the WD My Cloud can be carrying out several data operations at one time without any drop in performance, for example a backup from the Windows PC and the Mac can be going on whilst you access your favourite tracks from a Playlist with your Android Phone or whatever. The following review outlines and describes many of the drives capabilities. http://gadgets.ndtv.com/laptops/reviews/wd-my-cloud-review-versatile-and-user-friendly-552860 -- ** Those who need help are those who are prepared to help themselves
Re: WdMyCloud
Firstly, only difference between the WD My Cloud and My Cloud Mirror is that 1 has 2 drives whereas the other has one thus - by default - the My Cloud Mirror runs in Rade mode so what's copied to one drive is backed up on the other. You're going about the setup of the drive the wrong way mate, there's no need to bother with Windows utilities or anything, I don't know whether you read what I wrote about the drive but in my piece I wrote about the HTML interface which you can use to set up the drive thus you can set up the My Cloud Mirror from any device whether it be your computer, iPhone or whatever, so long as your device has a browser. Re: WdMyCloud
Depending on what you're wanting. Obviously the Mirror version is a more configurable option given its 2 drives but apart from that it doesn't seem there's much difference between the 2. I don't know what the version is called, there's on that you can configure from scratch, that is you determine what drives you want to put in it, what capacity and how they operate, that's the best way to go in my opinion and if you could be bothered. Just looking at some prices now, had I had $600 at the time I would have bought the My Cloud Mirror 6TB unit, incredible value for money. Still I'm happy with what I've got - very happy -. Re: WD My Cloud For Storing Audio
I can’t comment on the other drive you mentioned, I was comparing the WD My Cloud to the system I was using before it came along which was a standard USB drive connected to my Asus RTN56U Rooter. The My Cloud has direct Ithernet connectivity with the Rooter over a 1GBPS connection so speeds are very good though they’re typically slower using Windows than they are on other platforms as Windows uses Sambre for a standard connection but its still fast just the same, to the point that the speed is good enough to hang a USB 3.0 drive or two off the My Cloud. No, you have 4TB storage and you have that backed up or you can double this to 8TB.
