I suggest you try what you hear or Stereo Mix. I don't use Freecorder so
 I
am just guessing. I tried it and then uninstalled it.

 Hi all!
I recently installed freecorder, and was eager to begin recording skype
calls for a podcast. However, I'm having a major problem. I'm recording
through my plantronics USB headset, and freecorder seems to only be
recording my end of the conversation. I have Record also from mic
 checked,
and I have my headset selected as my recording device. I just can't
 figure
out why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 Thanks!

Subject: Tips For Using Urge With Jaws

Hi. I got some questions about using the new Urge music service on
another list, and I thought I'd post my observations here in case
they will help someone over here. Urge is a really nice service,
and they've done a great job with sound quality, especially for
those of us with surround sound capability. I am using Jaws 7, not
the beta, so my comments are based on that. Some window reclassing
would probably make this process easier to handle, but I haven't
even attempted that yet. Here's what I SEE SO FAR.

Urge is tightly integrated with the new version of MICROSOFT Media
Player, version 11. NP 11 is accessible and is easier to use than
MP 10 in some ways. You'll need to istall MP 11, and it will ask if
you want to install the Urge software too. Assuming you've gotten
to the point of being ready to use the software...

With the Urge software, you actually have 3 components. At the top
of the screen is a navigation area for the various functions of
Media Player. It's a little busy up there, so you can choose to
hide it if you wish. I don't, as there are some useful features in
that section. Anyhow, the second component is an imbedded IE
browser window that contains the Urge web content. If you use your
Jaws cursor and left click once in that area, you'll get the virtual
buffer and can read the album reviews and such. Below that and to
the left of the screen is a list view area where song titles are
displayed. Again, using your Jaws cursor, left click once on one of
the song titles in that list. You'll then have a traditional list
view that you can move up and down in with your PC cursor just like
a normal file list. Right clicking on a title will bring up a menu
from which you can play, download, buy, and send songs to friends in
email. So to buy a song, you right click on one of these titles and
choose the buy option. Since I don't buy tracks individually, I
can't say what the resulting screen for buying a song will look
like. My guess is that you'd use your Jaws cursor and click in that
center window so you can use the virtual cursor to fill out the form
with your payment details. I have the unlimited access plan and
download songs instead of buying them. Once you buy or download a
song, it's added to your media library in Media Player, and you can
play it as you would any other song IN THE LIBRARY. You can use the
traditional burn area of Media Player to burn purchased tracks to CD
if you wish. Also, when you do a search in Media Player, and you
have an URGE ACCOUNT, THE SEARCH WILL SHOW YOU 2 DIFFERENT SETS OF
RESULTS One is from your local collection of songs, and the other
shows you what's available on Urge. This is how a music service
should work. (grin)

Because this is beta software, I have noticed a slight sluggishness
when arrowing through a long list of titles. I think this is due to
the fact that MP 11 displays album art. I'm going to try turning
that off this afternoon and see if that helps. The sound quality
really is quite good, and it's worth taking some time to learn to use
 the software.

I hope this has been helpful to you. If you have questions, you can
email me here or off-list, or you can Skype me with rhyami as the
user name. Just please let me know you're from this list when you
add me to your Skype user list so I'll know you're not some weird
spammer who wants to send me links to porno sites. I've had too many
 of those offers lately. (grimace)

Re: More Replay

2006-05-08 Thread Juan Sosa
Hello:
Gary:
once the show/shows are completed look for them under records they will each
have there own folder. you can use winamp or windows media as far as I know
they come on a .asf extention. if you wish I suppose you could convert them
in to mp3
if the files are being to large you might want to change at which beatrate
are being recorded. you can go down to 96 KBPS and still get a clear sound.

not announced as a link or an on click, though there are plenty of
those. If anyone knows where to click or press enter or space bar to

know. Phone numbers seem scarce, too, though I'm planning to dig a
little deeper today or, acquiese to sighted help!

Sorry, but I cannot figure out how to purchase the Replay AV software.
Also, can't figure out price. Where I went it had multiple credit card

2006-04-30 Thread Juan Sosa

Hello Anita:
no, what's Matthew referring to is that the utorrent and bittorrent are
both programs once you install either of them you will then need to go and
find what you're looking for in either public or private sites.

for you to get a better understanding of torrents you should go to:

Hello, there's UTorrent, which isn't even an installing program. You just
hit enter on the file name and it goes. It's very accessible. Using
torrents
is not illegal, but the content you download can be both legal and
illegal.
You can get UTorrent from
www.UTorrent.com
and you can download lossless live music from
www.DimeADozen.org
and
www.BootCity.org
It may be hard to get an account on those though, because they only take
a

certain amount of users at a time. I even had to borrow an account to get
what I need. The concept of torrents is that when you're downloading,
you're
also uploading, as others are getting parts of the torrent from you, and
other parts from other people who have that torrent.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Re[4]: replay-AV weirdness

2006-04-30 Thread Juan Sosa
Hello:
the first set refers to the starting time and you can use up, down, left and
right arrow to set up the hour minute and either P.M. or A.M. so once you
set up the starting time of your show then tab 1 more time and you'll be
placed on another set where you can setup the ending time. but if your show
has been taken from the guide by adding it the time should already be
scheduled.

Hi Patrick, using Replay AV's URL finder, I have not yet found an
embedded
player I couldn't record from. Works really well and of course an added
benefit is that you can then use Replay AV to tune into the stream at
 any
time, even if you don't want to record it, and bypass the embedded
player.

 Hello Chris,

On Sunday, April 23, 2006, 12:29:27 AM, you bellowed the following:
i learned that some streams *must* be recorded using your sound card.
  I didn't think so but it's true.

For this, I tend to use Virtual audio Cable.
Yesterday, I had to record four hours from a stream which used one of
those
 imbedded
players. What I did to get around this was to open up sound forge, set
it to the input on one of the virtual audio cables, set my default sound
card to the virtual cable's output, load the stream, then change the
default playback device back to my onboard sound card. This was done
 with
a
 laptop
 and it worked great.
It's far easier to rip streams on shoutcast servers, or even Windows
Media streams where you can actually find the source address.

Hello Arthur:
the 2 programs that I am aware that can do this are total recorder, and
powergramo.
1. for the total recorder Dean Martineau did an awsome tutorial for his paid
subscribers for sound-computing hes url is:
http://www.topdotenterprises.com/
2. for the powergramo you can get a 15 day trial. The powergramo is very
easy to use and to configure. They also offer 2 types of the powergramo
program, the basic which is free and the pro which you would need to pay
for and it gives you more that you can do with it.
You can find the program and more info by going to:

As to the fast forward and rewind options, set those in the play

My demo version has expired so I honestly can't remember where it is but
 you
can speed it up to like 5 times the normal speed and it sounds just like
 a

if you have 1 of the latest versions, you will first need to search for

 1. go to your run dialog
2 type skype:echo123?add (echo123 meaning your contact id.)

I found a great way to see, what music from a certain artist is
available at which online store: www.mp3.com. One can search for an
artist there. One then selects it and gets a list of albums, singles
etc. After the downloads link of the item is clicked, a list of
services which cary it is displayed.

Well!

I can't for the life of me understand why the writer changed the
check/unchecked notification feature at all. It use to work just fine and
it did not do anything bad to the program so why bother with it. I
purchased the program back in early 2000/20001 and that original version
allowed you to just arrow up and down the list and it would let you know
which track was checked or unchecked. In fact, there was an option in the
settings area that asked you whether or not you wanted to use check boxes
or not. With this checked to yes ensured you would have this data read or
you could set things with checkboxes and know whether or not a track was
selected or not. The layout acts the same, so why not put it back. I
just can't understand why programmers feel they must tamper with things
that work. There is absolutely nothing improved in the program by making
this info ungettable.

I would say to the programmer put it back and make the program better for
us all.

Re: Instructions on Getting IPod Shuffle to be Accessible

2005-07-01 Thread Juan Sosa
 iPod shuffle. This
prepares the Shuffle and the computer to send data back and forth.
Now, here's the really important part. Now, you're ready to transfer data
to your shuffle. To do this, locate any music you'd like to copy to your
shuffle.
So go to the directory where your music is and do a simple copy operation
there.
Note that if you have the trial version of Anapod, it'll only let you copy
one song at a time. This lets you at least figure out if it'll work for
you. Ok, now that you've copied your track or tracks to your clipboard,
it's time to paste them. I learned through experience that it's important
to paste the tracks in a specific place, rather than just in the route
directory of the drive itself. You can do this til the end of time and it
won't work. So, instead, open up Anapod Explorer via the context menu in
the system tray icon menu and arrow down to the part of the tree that
says,iPod shuffler. The item we're actually interested in is in this
section and is called shuffle memory.
Arrow down one time to get to this. On some systems you may have to press
enter to get the song list to appear, but on mine curiously, i only had to
press the tab key. and maybe it's just my system in particular, but for
some strange reason, JAWS would not read the list viw to me unless i did a
bit of cursor routing.
But after that, you should be able to paste your tracks there. so go
ahead and do that now. if you read your status line, you'll be able to
tell how fast the files are transfering and if there's space on the
shuffle being taken up by the files. these are good indicators to tell if
you're doing it correctly. Eventually your transfer will complete,
hopefully successfully! So now, you'll have to go back to the system
tray, choose anapod manager again and press enter on disconnect iPod
shuffle. This indicates that the file transfers are over. Now, you'll
also need to remove your shuffle from the computer. Don't just yank it
out of the USB port though. First, go back to the anapod manager menu and
choose eject iPod shuffle and then after a few seconds you'll get a
dialogue box saying that the operation is complete and it's safe to remove
the player. so press the space bar to make it go away. Now it's ok to
remove it from the USB port, so go ahead and do that. Don't forget to
replace the piece of plastic that goes on top of the USB port. Now, find
your headphones and plug them in.

You'll need to turn your shuffle on, next. on the under side you'll find a
switch that has 3 different positions. Move this switch one place forward
for the shuffle to be turned on and in shuffle mode. move it once more to
have it in regular mode. Now that it'son, press the play button, which
you'll find on top of the player, it's the round circular button there.
Hold it down for about 5 seconds. If you hear music, you're good to go!
You can adjust the volume by pressing the buttons just above and below
the play button. to switch tracks, the button to the right moves you
forward and the one to the left moves you back. Holding these buttons down
will let you fast forward or rewind within a track.
The only real complaint I have about the shuffle is its lack of controls
to adjust the sound. On my awesome $35 radio shack headphones, this thing
sounded really tinny. Not a lot of bass or trebble, but the sound was
certainly good enough when you're out and about. I think of it as the
no-frills iPod. In fact it's the cheepest of all of them. and wouldn't
you know it, just as an aside, I bought it last Thursday for around $150
at Target, and today I found out that Apple just dropped the price of it
by $30. That always seems to happen, oh well. In any case, I hope this
helps a perspective, or new iPod shuffle user get going.

Re: a skype question

2005-02-14 Thread Juan Sosa
Hello Melissa and everyone:
skype is a program that you just install on your computer. It works kind of
like msn messenger but with a much better audio quality in my opinion.
with skype you can talk with up to 5 people at once in a conference sktyle
and you can now send files and chat like you can in msn. There are also
scripts for the skype program and I with someone else also moderate a list
of skype users. Like I said there are scripts but the program can be use
without them as well.
if you would like to download the program you can do so from
http://www.skype.com
and if you or anyone would like to join the skype users group you can do so
by sending a blank message too

I'm new to Skype because I haven't had time to mess with it before. I never

your actual telephone for, or is this something that is done via cable
modem? I have high speed access, and I don't think my computer is currently

winamp email list and shortcuts to use the program?

2004-10-17 Thread Juan Sosa
Hello everyone:
I just upgraded from winamp 2.91 smiles, to 5.5 and I am wondering if the
email group for winamp still active? I went to the jfwlite but the page for
winamp is unavailable. I would like to be able to subscribe to it if it
stil active. A while back I remember seen some type of little manual or
some keyboard commands which would help in the usage of the program?
could anyone please direct me so that I can a least get started? smiles.
I've also heard that with this version of winamp you can also find radio
stations. I am wondering how someone can go about that?
Well, would appreciate all the help that I could get.
thanking everyone in advance for the help.
Juan Sosa

Regarding gold wave, and recording a show from the internet

2004-07-31 Thread Juan Sosa
Hello everyone:
I am writing because I am having a little problem. I am using the gold wave
program 5.08. I am trying to record a show from the internet but the
problem that I am having is that once I am done recording it, and I try to
play it
back I can berrly hear the show. I was told that I may have to change the
volume for recording and to check the box for sterio mix. I am using
windows XP and am wondering if there is another name for it because under
the volome control nor properties can't locate such option. once I select
the radio button for volume for recording then I go to the list view I have
6 options like cd, mic, phone, and a few others but I don't have a sterio
mix. I would greatly appreciated if someone could please help me out so
that I can correct this problem.
thanking everyone in advance for all of the help
