Re: Audio Enhancements Found In IOS 8

2014-09-26 Thread Steve Mann
I tried the original IOS 8 and downgraded back to 7.1.2. I'm using an
iPhone 5C and almost all apps had a habit of crashing every few minutes.
also, there is this annoying added feature in voice memos that clips
sound at times and I couldn't find any way of stopping it from happening.

Also, Voiceover's volume is reduced so much during phone calls that it's
almost impossible to hear when you need to select numbers to respond to
an automation unit such as a bank's automated phone system. I'm hoping
they eventually get those bugs fixed, but until they do, I'm sticking
with 7.1.2.

Greetings,

How about memory? Take a look at the fjile formats and storage options.
also, rather than keep installing and uninstalling, take a look at the
setup

options. also, why not write to the author at:

chris2...@goldwave.com

but make sure you've checked manual, help, can give him clear details of
your o/s and GW details such as settings and the like. Chris is always
most

helpful but will assume you've checked all the obvious places.

These are my first thoughts and the areas I would check.

Have you tried the same setup on another machine and what happens?

Any tutorials out there for this so-called new version/

Two GoldWave Errors

2012-09-15 Thread Steve Mann
lately I've been getting two distinct error messages when I try to save
multiple files with GoldWave. One of them is an external exception EFace
error, whatever one of those may be, and the other one doesn't give me any type
of error number but says, cannot read audio data. It does this with pretty
much any file I work with if it's one of a group of files I have open and I
have no clue why it's doing this. Even a month ago I was able to save multiple
files at once with GoldWave without it doing this. has anyone else encountered
these errors in GoldWave? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program a grand
total of seven times so far and am still running across the same issues. I know
it can't be the files, as it doesn't matter what files I'm working with at the
time. If anyone could help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated.

That's very weird; I've certainly never gotten an error message like that

since it seems the problem is directly related to interaction with the
file system?

An interesting GoldWave error.

2012-08-16 Thread Steve Mann
recently I've been having an interesting issue with GoldWave. I can use the
file merger and other features that don't directly involve me opening a file
and doing anything with it, but when I actually have a file open and have made
changes to it and attempt to save it, GoldWave gives me the following message.
GoldWave error. External Exception EFace. Not sure if I spelled that
correctly, but it's been doing this every time I make actual changes to a file.
Has anyone ever encountered this problem before?

I get a god-awful sound through my speakers! So I shut down Winamp,
but that sound persists; the only way I can get rid of it is to restart or
shut down the computer! This has happened since I reinstalled Winamp!
How do I get rid of this? Am running Windows XP, Jaws 13 and an older
version of Winamp! BTW-I originally installed a newer version yesterday
(it did the same thing) so I went back to the version I think I originally
had (five point something; sorry I don't have the exact version for you!
But I hope someone on here can tell me how to fix this, for I don't want
to have to be restarting my computer every time this happens!

Hey Christopher. I posted about this earlier. The reading functions still
don't appear to work, and jaws still speaks as though the clipboard were
empty/selections were not made. Jaws 11 over here...might have something
to do with it, but I think it more likely to be connected with the new GW
version. Didn't you say you weren't a jaws user, or am I getting you
confused with someone else? lol

One obvious improvement though is, as I said before, that now the
filenames will speak.

If you're successfully using the reading functions and everything else is
working correctly, perhaps there's something we need to set differently
in goldwave?

Well let's face it, this machine if we ever get to see it won't be the
be-all and end-all when it comes to multi track recording.

My Zoom H1, its not a multi track recorder however I do have a computer
so I
record individual tracks - where required - on the H1, copy them from the
SD

card to computer and use Reaper Audio Production software to do the rest.

Hi!

My favourite subjectsmile, I've been down that road before.

I use Fire Field recorder though it hasn't been updated for quite
some time.

Now here's where things become a little tricky. If you're using
Fire Field Recorder for quality recordings you'll want some
external microphones and inputs, that's fine! as those devices
exist but when all boiled down, its going to cost you a little
money, not expensive mind but a little money.

If I had my time over again, I would not have bothered buying the
extra attachments for my IOS device, they're nice sure! but for
nearly the same amount of money I could have bought a portable
recorder which does far more than the IOS device I had was capable
of doing, I'm talking of course of the Zoom H1 portable recorder.

No, it doesn't have talking this or talking that, no it doesn't
have bells and whistles to write home to Mum about but it is! a
very high quality and easy to use recorder which handles MP3 and
Wave format, encoding quality for
MP3 can be set along with sampling and bit rate for Wave.

They don't really cost that much, but they do have tha advantage of speach
for those who can't see to read the visual menus. I also like their small

$300.00 doesn't sound too bad, considering how much you used to have to
spend for a multi track cassette recorder. The one I have in storage went
for $1100.00 back in the 90s. I sure wasn't expecting the one everyone's
talking about to be as low as $300.00. I was expecting it to be higher than
that.

inputs, that's fine! as those devices exist but when all boiled down,
its
going to cost you a little money, not expensive mind but a little
money.

If I had my time over again, I would not have bothered buying the extra
attachments for my IOS device, they're nice sure! but for nearly the
same

amount of money I could have bought a portable recorder which does far
more
than the IOS device I had was capable of doing, I'm talking of course
of

the
Zoom H1 portable recorder.

No, it doesn't have talking this or talking that, no it doesn't have
bells
and whistles to write home to Mum about but it is! a very high quality
and
easy to use recorder which handles MP3 and Wave format, encoding
quality

for
MP3 can be set along with sampling and bit rate for Wave.

The Olympus portable recorders have been discussed a lot lately, and I

could buy one of those. But I already have an iPod Touch, and was
wondering
about just using that as a portable recorder. The built-in mic isn't
very

good, but sufficient for most voice recordings. Is there a high-quality
external mic available? and, is there a recording app that's
accessible,

and
more full-featured than the very simplistic voice memos app that comes
with
it?
