I have come into possession of a directory of files which are
supposedly the full contents of a DVD--namely, the Video_TS directory.
What software will treat this like a real DVD? Or must I actually
write it out to a real DVD and play that?

Re: Where do you put files on an Ipod?

2007-06-21 Thread Studio Montebello
Hey Brian!
Are you using rockbox?
If you are, then you just put your music in a new folder you create with
Windows explorer.
Of course, you then have to boot to rockbox.
If you boot to the I Pod firmware, then you won't see this folder and would
have to use I Tune to read your music files.

I asked my question yesterday, but no one responded. Let's try it from
another angle. If you edit audio projects in Sound Forge 8.0, what CD
burning program are you using for them.

I was using Nero, but it seems incompattible with projects edited in SF.
When I try to burn such a project in Nero, I get the following error. CD
needed for Audio CD equals CDR-RW. CD in burner equals CDR. Note that this
is for an audio CD. Also, please note that this problem occurs only with
projects edited in Sound Forge. Nero has no problem with projects edited in
GoldWave, DC6, or WavePad. Anyone care to have a go at helping me solve this
 issue?

 Larry,

In addition to saving files in dot wav format, do you save them
using forty four point one kilohertz sampling rate and
stereo? A few years ago I tried saving a monaural file in
Nero thinking I could get twice the amount of audio on a CD.
Nero wouldn't do it but I forget exactly what message I got.

 ** Message Separator **
Hello Jean. I'm saving Sound Forge edited files as .wav
files and then dropping them into Nero. I can't imagine what
I might be doing wrong. But for some reason, Nero won't
accept them.

Subject: CD Architect Question

Since I've started editing certain Vinyl and cassette to CD transfer
projects in Sound Forge 8, I've learned that Nero 6.6 will not burn projects
touched by SF. It consistently reports that I have a CDR in my drive, and
that I need a CDR-RW instead. This is not true, as I have Nero set to Audio
CD. Furthermore, Nero does not display the same anomaly when I burn a disk
that was edited with DC6, Goldwave, or WavePad. So far, CD Architect seems
to be the only burning program that will touch a Sound Forge edited project.
My problem is that some of my customers want no gaps between tracks. In
Nero, removing the 2 second gap between tracks is a simple matter. How can I
accomplish the same thing when using CD Architect?

As always, thanks for any suggestions you might be able to offer.

Hey Brandon!
I guess DVD audio extractor is allright. OGG is fine in most case and if I
want to get fancy, I can always rip to uncompressed waves but the file is
huge of course!
I do find that the ripping is rather slow. On my dual core processor with 2

I'll look into ripping the audio with DVD Decryptor. I didn't know it could
do it.
Many thanks.

 Hi,
If you want the 5.1 in AC3, DVD Decrypter does this. It's a bit weird to
get the files, so if you want I'll write you offlist with instructions,
but if you just want it in OGG or whatever else, as far as I know only
OGG supports 5.1, DVD Audio Extractor is for you.

Speaking of, how much is it, and does the site support PayPal? I'm
curious so that if I can get OGG files in one step for a reasonably
cheap price instead of getting AC3 then going to OGG, I'll take it.

 Hi all,
There is now, and apparently has been for a while, an AC3
encoder/decoder out there. Actually, there are a few flavors of the same
basic design, involving different user interfaces.
The site at which the guide for using one of the flavors is at:
 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=86897
There you can download the command line version, and there is a link to
the latest version of the recommended GUI. There are other downloads on
the page of the command line version of this program. You may have to be
cautious if you get the latest version of BeLight because there are
compiles for different architectures, and I'm not exactly sure which
ones work with which processors. I have the normal version on a Sempron
3000 and I'm getting a few errors, so I'll have to test others and let
you people know what I come up with.

The server only allows so many users at a time so if you do not

 Go to:

 Use Login user: Podcast

 No password needed.

 Choose log in button.

See if you can download the files to your hard drive.

Right click on the file that you want and then choose copy.

Then go to whatever drive you want to put it in the copied file.

 Email me with your results.

Put in subject line of your email message: FTP tester

 Thank you in advance.

There are several ways to search for binary files on UseNet. NewsRover
is a fine program, which can do that. However one has to use certain
providers for it to work. Giganews is one example. They're great, but if
you use a provider, which isn't supported, you can't use NewsRover's
search feature. You could then use a web based engine. I like
www.ngindex.com. If you find something there, you cannot download it
from the site, but you can download an NZB file, which describes all the
parts of the file. One can then download the file via the NZB from any
provider with an NZB capable Usenet program.

To Arnaud re Rockbox for I river ihp 120

2006-06-18 Thread Studio Montebello
Hello arnaud!
Just installed the new dayly build for my I River IHP 120 and the english fast
voice! Works like a charm! I see that they have removed the 48 KHz recording
option! Guess it was no use having it there sincce rockbox will only record at
44.1 KHz.
Is there any plan to have the input gains settings in the recording screen
speek? It would be s nice!Unless there is another way to do this that I am
not aware?
Also, do you know of a way to remove the apparent limiter on the input signals?
Merci d'avance, Jean

I ran it with different books and it seemed to convert just fine here and
I
note no pauses but then again I have the speech rate fairly fast. I also
have quite a fast machine and that may make some difference. I think it's
cool the feller is giving away free codes. It's a great little full
featured editor. While parts of the program are in Italian most functions
are understandable so that shouldn't be a problem for you. You can
translate material in to quite a number of languages and that is
impressive
in itself so I can write a letter in English here and translate it in to
German or Spanish as an mp3 and the speech will speak the text in the
chosen language. I have several other conversion programs such as Text
Aloud and Saypad but this one here is one of the fastest I've used for
converting. I am quite impressed with this tool and I do recommend it.

I'd say to use that program for the conversions if you have it and use
the

Thanks for this!
That resume function is very important to me! since the only books I will be
reading from this player are the net library's. And, as you know, they are
all huge single files. It would be a nightmare to have to look for the spot

I am currently investigating another model. It's the Creative Zen Nano Plus

Hi, Jean, Kurt, and all you other aspiring Ilo users out there!

First, Jean, I've not found it difficult to play even several books in the
Ilo 1 gig. When you turn the Ilo on, the first thing that comes up for me
are my files, and when I press play, the first file starts playing. I have
several books and songs in there, and I can easily go from track to track.
Unfortunately, if you've had the Ilo off for awhile, it's been my experience
that it does take you back to the beginning of the tracks, whether they be
books, songs, whatever, and that can be a pain if you're listening to a long
book. I think you have to buy higher-end devices to be able to get that
wonderful feature, like the Bookport has, of stopping your book where you
left it.

I'm sending along a couple of things that might be helpful to you all, and
I'll be glad to help if I can also.

Below is the information from Overdrive, a service similar to Net Library.
I'm just gpoing to paste in their Accessibility Guide.

You can also go to

blindcooltech.com

and get a couple of little tutorials on how to sync your device with Windows
Media Player and how to download books from Net Library, both done by our
good pal Larry Skutchan. When you go to blindcooltech.com, look for the
links, How to Put Protected WMA Content onto Your MP3 Player
and Net Library.

Okay, here's the write-up from Overdrive:

Hi Kathy!
Just a few questions on the ILO player!
If you transfer only 1net library book at a time in the player, do you have
any difficulties in getting the player to play? I guess, what I really mean
is that if you only have the one file in the player, will the book start
playing when pushing the play button?
And, if you turn the player off, will the book resume when you next turn the
power on?
Any difficulties in syncronizing with windows media player 10?
And lastly, can you access the player's memory with windows explorer?
Many thanks, Jean

stretch of the imagination, really accessible, it's accessible enough for
me
to play my Net Library books without too much hassle. I got mine from

It's pretty much plug and play, it's set up to work seamlessly with

Portable music player

2006-05-16 Thread Studio Montebello
Hello all!
I know this question has been asked a zillion time but I really did not pay
much attention to these posts since I already own an I River IHP140 with the
rockbox software and the unit works very well!
This time though, I need a player that will play audio books that are WMA
protected files fron Net library.
I am looking for a 1 gig unit which does not require special pc software. It
would be nice if the unit had resume on startup and be reasonably accessible!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 Hi, Kevin.
You might like to post that on the Rockbox list and/or give a
 donation to the Rockbox project

The developers do this as a strictly volunteer project and their
only compensations are having a better player, hearing that users like
their
 work, and getting donations.

I just took the plunge to-day and installed the latest build of the rock

Whilst it's not perfect it's a darn site better than what I had when the
thing did not talk if the good folks at rock box get it to talk instead of
spelling file names out it will be grate their is some script that will do
this I believe but if any one on this list is involved working on the rock

Windows media player 10

2004-12-11 Thread Studio Montebello
Hello everyone.
I have just installed windows media player 10 and every time I play a music
file, the program always connect to Napster. This is inconvenient since Jaws
start talking on top of the music. Version 9 did not do that.
Does anyone know how to remove this feature. I looked all over the menu items
but I am unable to uncheck the napster thing in the view menu.
Any help is appreciated.

Try using the numbers 3 and 9 on the numpad. If that works, I think I know

2004-09-09 Thread Studio Montebello
Hi Joe.

I have re read your post and I am not too sure what you mean by silent scrub! The page
up and down feature is more like a jump feature. The lenght of the jump is determined
by the zoom ratio.

If I understand you correctly, what you need to do is use the left and right arrows .
Providing you are in play from curser orplay selection mode which you access with the
control+shift+numpad 5, you should be able to hear your scrubs while holding down the
left arrow to rewind, and the right arrow to forward.

I hope this is clear as it is very early here, and I'm not sure my brain is in full
gear yet!

Please let me know if this works.
